fangurlgrow I transplanted the peat pots into 4L plastic pots. Initially started using a cheap basic led strip light which wasn't strong enough so this week they were delayed slightly whilst I was waiting for my spider farmer to arrive.

fangurlgrow Whilst the spider farmer for being processed for delivery I bought a back up led light. It consumed more power but good to have incase I need it in emergency. The plants had been stretching of course.

fangurlgrow The new light had arrived and the plants certainly perked up. One of my cats had also stepped on a plant when I wasn't looking but still surviving.
fangurlgrow I made a start on some defoliation. I wasn’t sure how they would take any hst so I tried to do the bare minimum.

fangurlgrow Pistols and flowering sites started popping up all over the plants. The tent is getting rather crowded which was my fault but I thought it would be interesting to see height growth.

fangurlgrow Whilst kicking into flower, they’re starting to go through their final stretch. Starting to smell slight hints of pine and citrus, nice and subtle.

fangurlgrow Pistols and calyx’s are coming through nicely here. Previously I wanted to try to keep the nutes to a minimum so I can see the flower development without extra help. I topped the soil with bone meal to give it a slow release.

fangurlgrow I used a digital microscope to check the trichomes and I’d say 10% are milky. Smell is still quite subtle which is great considering it’s a low odour strain.

fangurlgrow Trichomes now looking extra milky here, I don’t think I’ll do a harvest update. For my first grow I’m not expecting a great yield but it was really interesting and I definitely learned a lot!
Very easy strain to grow and was impressed with the growth. Here’s a summary of what didn’t go so well and what I need to improve on.
- I overcrowded the tent. I did want to see how they would grow when focussed on height. The Northern Lights grew to over a metre.
- I did mess up my timings on flush admittedly and although bone meal is good it’s slow releasing and so my yields were impacted.
- There was a pest problem with gnats but I now know what works best in my environment and how to combat it.
- The pots I used I feel impacted air flow for the soil/roots so I now have fabric pots.
- Lastly HST doesn’t take too well on some Autos so I’m going to stick with LST for now.
