Germination
Germination week is to me the most stressful. Will the seeds sprout or nah, will they love they're conditions or nah. I hate this week but I'm hoping Growers Choice won't fail me again. Last time I was 3 for 3 with all 3 germinating but one got too cold and literally popped. Hoping that a temp between 75-80f will be adequate this time. So here's a day 4 update - all 3 seeds have sprouted a taproot. BB1 was the first one to come out and say whazzup BB2 was soon after. BB3 I had to investigate and found the tap root was growing towards the surface so I very carefully turned it over and placed it taproot down lol. We should see her emerge within 24hrs. I am adding maybe 1/2oz of water to BB1 and BB2 as the rest of the medium is pretty dry and the peat moss dries out pretty quickly because of it. Update day 5 - BB3 has successfully sprouted. I'm maintaining higher rh levels and have started to sub irrigate to encourage downward root growth. Final day update - all three girls are out and starting their early growth stages. Pheno 3 is a strange case here... I had to separate the peat moss to extract the taproot exposed seed and turn her over. Thankfully she handled it just fine but is also a bit deeper into the medium I hope this won't be a problem later in the early growth stages.

Still in early veg but BB1 is almost to the 4th node already... I may LST her at the end of week 1 with the other two that are going to need a ton more time. The only issues that have arose are with BB2 and 3 with some of the new growth just looking weird, besides that everything is going great. At day 3 I adjusted the light up just half an inch, and also changed the light schedule to a 20/4 schedule. Hoping that helps the weird growth phenos and helps with some relief the larger pheno as she's been pointing straight up to the lights before I train the leaves down, I train them down at least 3 times a day. Day 4 seen explosive development in pheno 2 and 1 with pheno 3 just kinda hanging out. I continue to add water 1-2oz at the base of each plant to help encourage root development

Huge update - PH has been at 5.5 for whole grow and today punched at 5.3... I have acid for soil... damn thing... needless to say got my new PH tester and will be raising ph up to 6.0 then after a few days try to get it up to 6.5. That is why my plants suffer so bad, and now I feel like a tool. Lol either way we will harvest and weigh these gals but I'm not holding my breath... Bb1 - I have started LST as she's already to 6th node, she's a quick rapid grower. I am experimenting a bit with light height and have pretty much made internodal spacing non existent. It won't and shouldn't be a huge plant but should yeild a fair bit. Looking for some education on node spacings and adjustment of lights if someone has any info. Should I allow the lady to stretch a tiny bit or rock it as is? Idk Bb2 - She is recovering now from funky genetic start, I discovered the peat pods I germinated in actually dried out and the seedlings weren't getting adequate water so I fixed the issue and here we are, she's recovered almost entirely and new growth appears normal. Bb3 - same issue as Bb2 I fixed the issue and I've been being careful to not over water any of the ladies, this lady just seems so much smaller than the other 2 and it's only 2 days behind Bb1... genetics? I have also gone to a logical and practical watering schedule based on what the ladies tell me I do not water daily and likely will not water a single time this whole week (sub irrigated and medium is still heavy) as it seems to be prime for the week to let the ladies use available water and nutes in the medium. I'll post photos as I get them, been a hard week as I recently badly injured my knee so it's hard to walk. Happy Growing and Happy Toking! Update... I snapped the stem of bb2 and left her topped at the 3rd node... I'm pretty upset about it but it happens it was a learning point. If you LST a plant make sure the stems are strong enough to handle it. Update - Bb3 is showing signs of root issues whether damping off or root rot I don't know but she's a lost cause I'm going to finish this week with her and then plant a great white Shark photo... I'm not impressed with these genetics all thing considered. They just don't seem stable. Final update of the week, BB3 is recovering I've increased the air flow in hopes of drying out the pots faster as this may be what the issue is. She's again bouncing back but she's been so stunted it'll maybe yeild 20grams... idk we shall see. Nonetheless I decided to give her a chance. See you all next week.

I'm wondering the following; I don't want tall lanky plants, but I also don't want to hurt my yeild by having the nodes too tight to where they can't grow right. So, the question is: Is it possible for nodes to be too tightly packed? I'd prefer the scientific reasons if possible.

Sure it’s possible but not likely to ever be an issue.. Genetics are more of a factor in my opinion than anything. Keep your PPFD on point and she’ll pack on bud as tightly as genetically possible (assuming all other factors are on point) My tightest nodes have been about every 1/2-2/3” and that’s about as tight as it gets indoor in my experience. So yeah just keep it around 1000 PPFD in flower and let the genetics do their thing.

Day 7 - last day of the week I decided to LST every Auto including the topped Auto. The Blueberry genetics keep the plant super short and inorder to fully maximize yeilds LST is crucial for this strain. Nonetheless, I have them tied down now and the medium's ph is now raised to 6.7-6.9 and will decrease as I water with dechlorinated tap. I raised my ph levels by adding 1Tbsp Baking Soda to 18oz of water. I then watered from the top down and added a small amount to the reservoir at the base. We will see if this helps the microbial life in the medium and help the plants uptake proper nutrients. Day 5 - adjusted the tie downs on the Bb1 pheno, that's about it. Bb3 is looking healthier for sure so the transplant didn't kill it. Day 4 - 2 phenos are showing signs of preflower, the bud sites for 2 of the 3 phenos look rather pathetic with only BB1 looking to actually yeild any mass... nonetheless two are pre-flowering and that's the update. Day 1- lst continues for BB1 she's a monster, the BB2 pheno has 3 main stems now for some reason, and BB3 is trying to recover from the low PH... goal by the end of the week is to have them recovered and a medium ph of 6.6ish. Everything else remains within "standards". BB1 is gonna stack on buds for sure though even with bad PH levels. Kinda impressed. Bb3 is now in New medium and is ph balanced and no longer stressed. Bb2 is in flower I expect this to trigger the bb1 and 3 phenos which would be less than ideal for bb3... either way the tent is now starting to get crowded. I'm excited for these 3 to be done.

Natural ways to raise a mediums PH? Is baking soda a good alternative to raise PH? Reference Bb3 from diary.

Hi fellow grower, Dolomite lime will raise the PH of your soil. Bicarbonate of soda will raise the PH of the water you put in. 5.6 is not too bad. Plants will survive happily between 5-8, soil is the best buffer for that. The condition of the plant is due to heat stress. I know this by the way the leaves are folding upwards into themselves. Kind of like a taco, screams heat stress. Maybe raise the light a little of increase the humidity to help her recover. Raising the CO2 will also help her survive high heat environments. I hope this helps, good luck and happy growing.

Day 6 update - adjusted tie down points and watered. Still no pests and no other significant signs of stress. They ladies are happy and healthy. Day 3 update - Two of the plants have started transitioning into flower. Next week BB1 and BB3 will be dubbed in flower. BB2 pheno is strange I just can't quite tell if it's even in flower... it's lanky and strange. Temps have been steady and now that the heat in the home is on I have to watch heat stress again. BB3 has recovered fully now with new growth looking absolutely perfect. No problems with pests or anything else at the moment. ....Previously.... (day 7 of week 3 - day 1 week 4) One feeding of baking soda to raise the PH of the soil. I decided to tie the girls down the last day of week 3. The topped plant (Bb2) looks more like the strain should than the other 2 phenotypes according to pictures. But the BB1 pheno is so bushy it will be a bigger yeilder for sure. The Bb3 pheno has recovered a bit we will see if the baking soda addition to the top watering helps rebound her better. Selective defoliation was done on all 3 phenos with some under growth getting removed and a couple target fan leaves blocking prime budsites.

First week of flower - 24 September 21 Day 1 - Today we tied down bb2 and bb1 phenos. Still trying to maximize top sites I'm not sure if it's a correct practice or not but we will see. Dechlorinated tap water from top down and selective defoliation were done for optimum budsite exposure. For the most part I've managed to only remove maybe 9 leaves total.

Day 4 - wilting is almost non existent since watering from the top and increasing the frequency of watering. Will monitor over the next couple days. Day 3 - more selective defoliation was done and co2 leves are controlled now between 600ppm and 1200ppm, I adjusted down from 2500ppm to avg 900 so I don't over expose co2 to the plants. The wilting appears to have been from sub irrigated watering only. So I'm now back to a hybrid style of sub irrigation and normal watering from top down doing the soak absorb soak method to make sure nutrients don't just get flushed out. I also brought the ladies outside for a little bit of pure sunshine and a bit warmer drier conditions in hopes that it would perk them up. IT WORKED, kinda mainly showed me I needed to increase my water intake and increase the ppfd so I lowered my light 1 inch as well. Day 1 - the tie-downs were adjusted and selective defoliation was done mainly in the form of removing the dead and yellowed leaves. Buds are starting to develop trichomes and the buds are starting to get bigger. No other updates.

Day 6 - Invested into a TDS Tester. Watering is at 10ppm as I filter it from the tap we are at 120ppm. No other updates. Day 5 - lollipoping and defoliation done, readjusted tie downs and watered. Looking good a starting to develop the trichomes now. Day 4 - left alone Day 3 - watered the ladies top down. Day 2 - left the plants alone Day 1 - no real updates just a watering and that's it. Letting it go for 2 days with no disturbance and seeing what happens. The end of week 6 left us in a pretty good situation headed into week 7.

Day 6 watered a bit Day 5 left alone Day 4 lollipoping the 1st and second phenos as it turns out these ladies likely have 4 weeks left. Day 3 transition to 12/12 the dark periods have a direct relation to thrichome development or so I have read so I decided to run Autos under photoperiod conditions. Day 2 left alone Day 1 light selective defoliation and rotation of the plants were done to spread the light evenly to the plants. Last week we started to develop trichomes this week I expect to see them really starting /o stack on weight.

Day 1 started out with some water and light selective defoliation. On day 3 I will be likely rotating the tent around a bit for sake of convenience. I'll move bb3 to the back and bb2 to the front of the tent. Day 4 update - I didn't end up rotating the tent because extra room was made available in the tent. Bb3 is likely the best pheno type out of the bunch and I have a sneaking suspision it's because the medium of bb3 is not miracle grow but a very nutrient full medium with root hormone and beneficial microorganisms that are activated. The bud development is unreal. Day 6 light defoliating and adjusted light down to 85%

So far wet had just under a pound between 3 plants. The strain seemed to have funky genetics with very clear differences in phenotypes. Bb3 is the clear favorite pheno which also had enough problems just trying to start sprouting lol glad I stuck with her. Curing 2 different ways with all three bud types. I'm doing classic hang dry and jar cure, them I'm doing a single run of humidor buds remaining on the branch, and then a water curing run to see flavor differences and smokability of the buds. All in all this is training for my zkittles pink panther run coming up likely in december.

@JustSomeSouthAfricanDude, sick, I'll use the water cured as my social medicating smoke! Great info. I'll likely go this route for an oz each harvest. Wonder what the hash from water cured would taste like... probably not really anything?
JustSomeSouthAfricanDude
JustSomeSouthAfricanDudecommented3 years ago
@TragicTerps, yeah definitely, still about the same high. Just depends how rough you get everyday you change the water. Sometimes i changed it like 3 times a day depending on how gunky the water looks. Could pass for a herbal cigarette of some sort i reckon with the smell.

@JustSomeSouthAfricanDude, great info! Did it get you stoned still? I guess it'd be a little more discrete if it's not loud (aroma from smoking) after curing.
