This week I was in isolation due to cancer radiation treatment and had a minder step in for my setup. I think they did great and I appreciate the pictures they grabbed for me. As soon as I got out of isolation, I topped the plant and did a light defoliation to allow more light to penetrate the canopy.
Trying to figure out when is the best time to send this girl into flower. I was feeling pretty confident with everything I have done so far---but nothing I watched on Youtube prepared me for what it actually feels like to deal with a scrog net. I feel like I did more harm than good. Also---I probably have the wrong size net...or the wrong size hands. I dunno. Any pointers appreciated.
End of week update 10/15/2021 - Everything turned out ok. Setting light schedule to 12/12 tomorrow.
So I was not sure when exactly to send this girl into flower (first grow). I tossed a SCROG net over it and spent most of my week fiddling around with the branches. The plant seems happy but I am not seeing what a lot of other growers see at this point, and I am a bit too nervous to defoliate this late in the game. Maybe for my second grow I will get a better feel for it. Fingers crossed I get anything at all. Pointers always appreciated.
I feel like I didn't manage a graceful transition into flower. Last week I saw no movement with pistil production, but end of this week, it looks like things are starting to progress.
Saw a lot more stretching and pistil production this week. There are lower fan leaves that were not blocking any nodes that I left intact prior to flower that I may look at removing next week. Mostly just sitting back and letting her do her thing for my first grow.
Aside from removing some of the larger fan leaves, I've been mostly hands off and letting the plant do what it wants at this point. 😲 I didn't have a strategy for my first grow once in flower, and I am delighted with how well it is doing.
I'm just here to learn from the plant. Watching it. Waiting. Looking at other people's grows and comparing. Finding my failures and being willing to take more risks. I think I majorly underfed during veg and even now in flower. I definitely should have done more with the defoliation and LST. But sometimes I find myself staring into my grow tent in amazement because despite all that, holy shit! I'm growing my own plaunts. Nice.
