Starting a new run of autos, which will, when ready, make their way into a greenhouse outside.
Spring has just started here, but it is still a bit too cold over night to go out there just yet.
So they're in a little tent under an LED on 5% power. Gave them 24hour per day for the first few days, but will switch to 16hours in a week as I start the hardening off process.
Did a 24 hour seed soak, into jiffy pellets, and into solo cups once the taproot poked out the bottom of the peat pellet. Using a seed starter by high powered organics in the solo cups. Always sprinkle a little bit of microbes when I uppot.
At the moment the seedlings are on a heat mat, and happy as! The first blackstrap that I sowed didn't germ so I decided to start another one.
I did germinate a blueberry auto, but planted it too shallow and damaged it trying to take the seed shell off the cotyledons... woops.
This week I started hardening off the seedlings. Starting off with 2 hours during the middle of the day, adding 2 hours per day, now they are spending the majority of the day in the greenhouse under the sun.
The blackstrap 2nd germ attempt was a success. It is 1 week behind the rest of them, but looking healthy and happy.
I've started giving them dr zymes every 3 days as a IPM, and a green supreme foilersprays to keep them happy.
I will be planting out in a few days, it will be day 16 from sprout when they get to their final home I'm the ground.
So 4 out of my 5 little ones have made it into the ground under the protection of the greenhouse. The blackstrap, being a week behind the rest, I plan on transplanting in 4 days.
It is still getting super cold at night, but
so far they have been loving their new home, and took to the ground with ease.
I have had some slugs munching on the leaves. Not use to dealing with slugs or snails because I've been growing indoors, but doing a bit of research, ive set up beer traps, and mulched with alpha mulch which is covered in diatomaceous earth. I'm going to add some coffee chaff as an extra mulch over the rest of the greenhouse. Slugs hate the coffee chaff because sticks to them eventually killing them. I'm a coffee roaster so have endless access to the stuff
Despite the slug attacks, i don't think it's slowed down growth too much, and the plants are praying every day.
It breaks my heart to see them injured, but im confident they'll keep on growing, so long as I've stopped the slug attacks.
We will see how we go over the next week.
Grower love to you all.
The plants seemed to have slowed down growth over the last week, and I would put it down to near freezing cold nights we've had here lately. I did expect this getting them out this early in the season, but they have still been pushing out new growth, and look relatively happy everyday.
The coffee chaff I lay down has instantly stopped any slug/snail attacks, and I'm seeing way less bug activity in general. I'm also using dr zymes once a week as a preventative.
The blackstrap has successfully made it into its final home and looking happy. Despite being a week behind, I have a feeling this plant is going to be bigger than the rest in the end. Just seems for vigorous than the others.
The NL is doing something weird with one of its fan leaves wanting to point straight down, could be a stress reaction to the slug attacks last week.
The deimos is leading the race, and hasn't had anything damage it.
The anvil has slowed down the most in my opinion, and yield will be affected, but im not too concerned. Tight node spacing is keeping it shorter, not a bad thing.
The medkit is looking happy even though there's a few chucks missing.
Fingers crossed for a Stella week of growth, and wishing the same upon all of you.
Much love. See you next week.
A pretty easy going week. Nights again got really close to freezing, but its hasn't stopped them growing.
Temps get as high as 40°C during the day in the greenhouse, but the plants seem to love it. They're always praying when it's super warm in there. Perhaps the high day temps are making up for the low night temperatures.
Watered twice this week, roughly 1L each. I do the old finger in the ground trick to judge when they need more water. The mulch is doing a great job the keep the moister in the soil. Had a small about of rain too.
Humidity spikes like crazy over night when the temps drop, up to 95RH, and then get as low as 25RH during the day when the sun is blazing.
Goes to show that crazy condition swings and contrasts can't stop this plant growing. They simply want to grow.
No signs of bug attacks this week.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how they're going. ☺️
It's starting to warm up a bit here, over the nights, and the plants have exploded with growth over the last week.
Already starting to see pre flowers on most of them, but still early days.
I think they'll stretch a fair bit this week, and pack on some growth, so will be thirsty girls.
I love this period of the growth!
Happy growing everyone, see you next week.
Has been a great week of growth this week, with the deimos and medkit charging alone nicely.
The Anvil has been looking a bit sad, and seems a bit behind, but I put it down to overwatering.
I think the blackstrap is shaping up to be my favourite. It's looking so healthy, and absolutely loving life. Just has this thing about it I can't describe, that draws me to it.
The NL looking good, and packing on more pistols than the others.
And over, im feeling optimistic about this grow. Love growing in the ground instead of in a pot.
Happy growing folks.
Okay, this week has been another week of explosive growth. Hopefully we'll see one more week of good growth before they start stacking on the weight.
The weather has been great, although a little windy. And now the nights aren't as cold
Starting to smell a little bit in the greenhouse. I think most of the aroma is coming from the deimos, which is still the tallest of the 5.
The black strap and anvil are starting to put on a tiny bit of purple at the bud sites. So excited to try both of these strains.
I have been watering them twice a week roughly, and giving a foiler spray of either green supreme, pure crop1, or dr zymes every couple of days.
Plants are happy, and looking like I'll get a better yield than I was expecting, if all things go to plan.
Happy growing to you all
It seems like the stretch is coming to an end, and the buds should start swelling pretty soon.
I did a top dress of some mega herb by high powered organics, just to make sure they have what they need at then end of the cycle.
Also did a very light prune of the lowers on all of the girls. Ive never done the hole shave the legs thing, so thought I'd give it a go
Greenhouse is looking great and stating to smell delicious. That makes me happy
This has to be the best grow yet for me. I'm finding it a whole lot easier growing in the ground, rather than in pots. The land I'm growing in has had chickens and sheep on it for years before I came in and started growing, so the soil was rich, and ready to go. Also using rain water instead of tap water.
So all that considered, ive just been doing some IPM sprays, foiler sprays, one light top dress a week ago, and just water.
The green house is becoming more diverse as I plant out other plants I've been growing from seed to keep my girls company. Got some yarrow, borage, tomatoes, basil, chillis, lavender and geraniums. All of which are great companions to cannabis.
Still doing 2 fairly solid watering a week. Just been watering when needed, and checking by finger banging the soil.
Getting closer to the end, and seriously keen. Ive run out of head stash, so smoking whatever I can get on the black market for the moment. And it's trash.
Counting down the days, but can't rush a good thing.
Hope you're all having success in your gardens.
Grower love to you all.
We've had pretty crazy weather here over the last week, and it's been super wet, and crazy windy. Putting the greenhouse to the test.
So it has been quite humid in there for around a week, which isn't great in late flower. But the girls looks strong, and are com along nicely.
Buds are swelling, and the blackstrap is turning into an absolute monster. Loving the colours.
And the deimos is a close second.
So keen for harvest.
Having one of the wettest November's in history, which is a pain in the ass this late in flower. I reckon we're only a week away from harvesting, but we've got heavy rains coming in. Sitting on the fence as to weather I harvest before the down pour, or risk getting bud rot for the sake of maturing the buds to ideal ripeness.
I harvested the medkit the day before the photos this week. I noticed a bit of botrytis, so cut the hole plant down. I cut off the infected site, and surrounding buds, and put it up to dry. It's been 2 days and it's looking good.
Good luck with your grow I hope you get the best taste of buds and healthy plants! Take care and stay lit! I will drop by sometimes to check on your process! Say hello if you ever visit my page!
