Third Grow of the Humboldt Blue Dream. First two phenos were a bit of a disaster. They were long stretchy with no bulky buds at all.
It stretched like crazy. I thought it was a write off but I scraped off what bud there was from the stems. Surprisingly it had a great effect, potent but really relaxing.
I'm hoping this one grows more normally and still has the same quality.
25 hours in water. 24 hours in paper towel. one inch tap root and in to the rockwool.
Moved to the DWC. Lights a couple of feet away until they adjust. PPM brought up to 300 over the week.
The Blue Dream started slow but it was growing some strong roots. Now the plant is catching up and the leaved are looking good.
BLue Dream started slow but had been growing great for the last couple of weeks.
Probably top it some time in the upcoming week.
Been upping the nutrients gradually and the leaves colour and growth looks really good.
Blue Dream is growing great. It has huge fan leaves and has been soaking up all the nutrients with no sign of burn or deficiency.
The plant was topped above the 6th node and has recovered with the two branches taking of in place of the single apex. I'm planning on SCROG for this one.
There was a bit of a crisis though as the 7 gallon container that the Blue Dream sits in started a slow leak. I had to isolate it from the RDWC and drain it. The plants sitting in a 5 gallon bucket right now and seems to be hanging in , if drooping a bit.
The container has a small crack in the bottom which I've patched with marine sealant. Hoping this will fix the leak so that I can at least finish this grow with it.
This Blue Dream is growing very strong and healthy. No obvious deficiencies on the leaves. It has very big fan leaves.
I put it in a SCROG. The stems are very bendable and I could weave the branches through the screen without damaging or breaking them.
I cut some of the lower branches with a few nodes, below the screen for cloning. I'll STS one of them for pollen and flower the other with the pollen for feminized seeds.
I think this pheno of the HSO Blue Dream strain is going to be good.
The canopy has been mostly weaved through the SCROG fairly level. The stretch is happening on this Blue Dream and it's really growing.
I cleared out alot of the growth under the SCROG and took some nodes for cloning.
I'm going to have to watch the hunidity and airflow on this as the buds start growing to avoid bud rot.
I don't like defoliating but it might be necessary if it keeps filling in with so many fan leaves.
This Blue Dream is growing really well. Almost too well, as the canopy is really dense with big fan leaves.
I don't like defoliating but I needed to, or I was going to have to deal with moisture and bud rot down the road. The last picture is the defoliated canopy. It's hard to tell but there's now a lot of space between the branches now.
I've cloned this one as it a strong grower. I'll have to see how it flowers now. They're starting to form.
Definitely a different (and so far way better) pheno than the other 2 seeds in the pack of the same strain.
Still growing really well. I've cut back some of the larger fam leaves on the canopy to let air flow and the light through to some of the lower leaves.
Lots of bud sites growing now.
Before flower the plant was at the net SCROG level. You can see in the picture all the vertical growth in stretch.
About 2 feet of growth up from the canopy in the stretch. I think it's over now.
Buds are forming really well. I keep pruning some of the large fan leaves to allow for air to flow.
This pheno of Blue Dream from HSO has really large fan leaves and is a vigorous grtower.
Blue Dream continues growing like a jungle. I've needed to keep pruning larger fan leaves from the top to allow air flow and light to penetrate the canopy.
Great plant though. So far no issues. It has a little powdery mildew which I'm spraying with a potassium bicarbonate spray which seems to be keeping it at bay. I've been fight with PM since late summer when it was really humid and it was everywhere on plants in the garden.
I likely should defoliate but it is so healthy otherwise I hate to cut off all that stored energy from the fan leaves.
I've pollenate a few lower branches for seeds with OG Kush, Cheese, SLH and Purple Kush pollen. Might be some interesting plants from that.
Blue Dream buds are fattening up and starting to form long larger buds as they grow together.
Still fighting some powdery mildew but it seems under control.
Very orange hairs on the buds which lean towards the sativa.
Blue Dream is looking good. Much more of an indica leaning pheno this time with larger buds.
Still fighting powdery mildew but it is under control.
Can harvest anytime now. I'll give it another week.
The Blue Dream from HSO grew fine, not the best and not the worst. This pheno at least had buds as opposed to the previous two, which grew long and almost bud free.
It had problems with powdery mildew, much more than the gelato in the same tent, but it was eventually brought under control.
The plant had large fan leaves and dense growth especially for a sativa leaning hybrid.
The buds are more mid-sized buds growing in a row and not quite coming together, which is likely due to the sativa influence.
Overall, not a bad yielder but on the low side of acceptable. It was 3oz dry weight in the end.
This was a better experience than the other 2 grows of this strain but unless the result is incredible, I can't see growing this one again.
There are better strains out there that I am better able to grow.
