11/10/21: Day 15. โ๏ธDecided to FIM as I decided on last night. Went well, hopefully the lower shoots finally start to form, as only node one has shoots visible, and they are tiny.
11/12/21: Day 17. ๐งPlant is looking good. Putting energy into producing new shoots, so the rest is slowing down. Lower branches are finally starting to get much longer, I'm sure it's because of the signals it recently received. Pot was quite light, so I gave it a thorough watering. There is a possibility that I may have to move everything ahead a few weeks, to keep it even with the other plant. As I already knew this plant will never be the best I wish it could be, I'll settle with whatever I get. I wish the competition was on a better schedule, because only 151 days left, isn't much time to grow out a real specimen, they are literally asking for a bunch of small plants. Shame, as it doesn't do anything to showcase what their genetics can do. Oh well, that's what they asked for, so that's what they will get.
11/13/21: Day 18. Plant is looking pretty good, but not great. That doesn't mean it won't wow me later on, it's just not as bushy as I'd like it to be. Especially with what I've decided to do. I'm going to push the schedule up a little. I'm going to transplant at the end of this week, instead of waiting another full week. The plant will definitely be smaller overall, but with this time frame, it will never be what I want anyhow, so I'll make this into one beautiful little plant, instead of one big one. Moving ahead a week is also beneficial for the contest, as it gives me time to possibly have the plant dried and tested before it's over. Not likely, but I should at least have it harvested by then, so there is that. I will be very disappointed if the other contestants don't get their plants flowered in time. The ones who are doing autos, they are secure. The ones doing a photoperiod like me, will be blessed with small plants. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else produces, as the genetics going are pretty badass. I'd love to have one of those CBD strains, but it definitely won't be grown in time for this contest. If I do get it, I will grow out a big one for them to see. That CBD to THC ratio has me very interested.
11/14/21: Day 19. Plant is looking very healthy, probably the healthiest looking plant I've had. Big broad leaves stretching as far as possible, a nice deep forest green, and a few little new shoots emerging from the decapitation. When I transplant in a few days, I hope that will signal some more growth to the lower nodes. They are moving, but at a very slow rate. Hopefully I have enough of a plant to get some training done. I don't want this to grow too tall. Pot is light enough I should have watered it, but I'll wait until tomorrow, as I'm lazy.
11/16/21: Day 21. ๐ง๐ฉ๐๐๐ I decided today was as good as any to transplant. That is, until I found out that I somehow messed up, and have another full 4 weeks longer in the contest than I had thought. I had apparently thought it ended in March, but the end date is actually in April. Damn, if I knew that, I could have waited another week in this pot, and grew bigger in the meantime. Or, I could have added another 3 weeks of veg in the new home. Dang, that's what I get for not paying attention. I thought I counted it out several times, guess I was just smoking too much. Ah well, I still would have had room to grow a big plant, not with the other plant having to be in there as well. Oh well, I will still get something to try from this plant. The new home allowed me the opportunity to easily apply some LST. All I have done so far, is bend it over 90ยฐ. Once the knew tops finish developing, I will continue to train them around the pot, in order to save some space. As the plant was transplanted, the new home was premixed with more Gaia Green All Purpose, at the recommended ratio of 3 tbsp for every gallon. I filled a 5 gallon bucket with soil, then transferred it into an 8 gallon storage container, to make mixing the nutrients in easier. I have some mix left over, I will use that for future seedling pots, or the next replanting. The decision to train came today, as it just keeps going up. Not that it's too tall, or lanky, I just see more vertical growth than I was outward. The next three weeks will be a nice opportunity for the lower branches to grow out a bit more, hopefully producing some nice fat colas very soon.
