Fox farms happy frog, bag seed from a bag of GG4, appears to be female. Unknown if autoflower or not, so using LST to obtain hopefully good results either way. You may see other pots from my Glookies grow here. Lights are a pair of used Viparspectra 300s(?) I'm also growing general garden herbs in the same little home made tent. Transferred the plant to grow bag 10/23 due to mild root binding in the original pot.

Is there a way to distinguish auto from photo in a young plant without knowing the origin of the seeds? Also, should I increase the amount of time the plant has under the lights? Right now it's at 16hrs, would upping to 18hrs now cause it to herm out?

No way to tell until flowering begins, if it starts at 3-5 weeks of age, and without going to 12/12, they are autos. 18/6 is the most effective light/dark ratio for autos and photoperiod plants in vegetative growth. No, going from 16/8 to 18/6 WILL NOT cause any hermaphroditism. Bag seeds always worry me though, most bag seeds are the result of hermies, meaning the seeds will have the genetics for being hermies too. Hope this helps, Organoman.

You’re not gonna know for probably 3-4 weeks from sprout. Go ahead and hit it with 18 hrs it will not be the cause of herming. You should see pistils/preflowers on an auto at around 30-40days after sprout.. where as a photo won’t do that until 6-8 weeks in. After a week of seeing pistils - an auto will start to have lots of them build up around the bud sites and show more signs of flower where that won’t happen with photos until you actually flip. Tho like I said around 6-8 weeks in - a photo will show two pistils at the nodes as a sign of sexual maturity

No their is no way to know until it either automatically flips or does not. As long as you don't give her 12h or more of darkness you can change the lights how ever you want. Only thing you can do is if you have the room then grow her out and see if she automatically flips( usually between week 4-6) and if she does not then flip her and enjoy the huge harvest. Happy Growing

the plant is staying lush and low, i've been nipping off single leaves from various fan leaves to increase the light to the suckers growing out of the nodes, which is working quite well.

plant was moved into a new grow tent with full spectrum non-blurple lights. shadowy because the new lights leave stripes on the photo, still figuring that out.

she's looking nice and healthy, a little droopy in this photo because this was just after i watered it for the first time in a couple days. i'd like to see those lower branches grow a little higher ideally. looks like at least 5 main stems so far but obviously more better.

i feel like it might be close to start flowering time... not sure. this is "week 4" but that's not right, i think it's more like week 5 or 6.

this plant is happy as can be and my only question is if it's time to flip into flower or not. I think I probably will.

Switching to flower this week--she's just a lil stinky and looks healthy as can be. did some light lollipop-ing on the lower branches to get her focused on the task at hand.

The sugar leaves on this plant are unbelievable. It's a good thing I vape and don't smoke--there's no way those puppies are going to waste. Using GrowBig and TigerBloom fairly minimally, every other watering or so. Plant seems absolutely stoked to be alive, and the stems have some beautiful purple lines going up them. I'm a happy camper.
