Day 26 (Since in buckets)
Since day 1 plants haven't eaten or drank anything noticeable. I thought air flow, light distance, light leaks into res, dodgy ph/ec meters, oxygen from the airstones and even my base e.c was to blame but I'm sure not. My base e.c before nutes is 0.15 from the tap & ph around 7.4. Last grow I had a 4L/min airpump setup to each pot now the plants have double that. Now they're looking their worst & I'm lost as to what the cause could be they have a rippled look to them & are droopy. Some older lower leaves looking rough from a week or 2 ago that I didn't know how to approach. Also round rust spots on the leaves in the last picture. Not sure what they're lacking, I've exhausted all attempts. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you.
Checked your nutrients again..... your ratio is respectively in the amounts you give it right now:
N : 2,14 % P: 1,7% K: 2,8% Ca: 1 % Mg: 1,7% S : 2% Fe : 0,12 %. I checked my ratio for grow with canna.
N : 3,4% P: 3,7% K: 9,4% Ca: 2,1%Mg:1,7% S :4,3%Fe:0,23 %.
This i also use for indica dominant Critical kush Barney's farm.
So, if you take in comparison with your low level of ec. In your stage i use a ec value of 1 or 1,2.
I also use extra Mg and Ca in growth and bloom, on top of the 'base feed'. Those are macro nutrients not micro.
Hope this helps, i have no deficiencies in growth ever.
How do your roots look? Slime and yellowish is lack of enzymes. Your amount of air must be sufficient.
Hope this helps man!!
I've grown LH for a while now, the thing i notice with my dwc setup is that the ratio NPK must be right. You are growing with nutrients that i don't know but if you check the ratio there is not much nitrogen in it. A lot of phospor and kalium and the right amount of mg ca. I'm thinking change the nutrients to canna aqua, this is designed for recirculating systems like dwc. In growing period i use aqua flores not vega because LH doesn't want that much nitrogen. When you start to flower add 1/3 P/K 13/14 and extra calcium and magnesium. Around 25 ml of each flores (A/B) and around 2 ml calcium and 3 ml magnesium for 13 litres, and of course 25 ml PK 13/14. This is a boomer ratio when you start with it around week 4. After week 6 you change to 25 ml flores (A/B), 50 ml PK 13/14 and of course 3/4 ml calcium and 4/5 ml magnesium on 13 litres water. this way you have ec value of around 2 and ph of 5,8/6. Ideal and a plus is that canna aqua has almost no changes in reservoir ph. From week 3 bloom start changing your res every week. ALSO don't forget to add enzymes, i use ata zym. Is cheaper than canna here in holland.
EDIT: Wedding cake is indica dominant, so i'm thinking you have lack of nitrogen. Indica loves nitrogen and higher ec levels in comparison to sativa. Also maybe a Fe deficiency.
Hi!
I had same kind of troubles at the beginning with my last DWC grow. For example lower leaves losing colors, getting crispy dies/falls off, generally unhappy and droopy plant. And it actually looks very similar to yours!
I have same sized DWC bucket and same kind of pumps. Also I used and still using GHE TriPart (same as yours) so we’re pretty close to match!
Never really figured out what caused it, but the plant just slowly got better between weeks 4-5.
But here is couple things I later came up with, and they could work for you as well:
#1 GHE Micro - are you using Micro/Hard water or Soft water? (If soft water then you do have enough Ca - Soft Water micro has 6% Calcium).
= Lower your Grow dose for a little and increase Micro dose. IF its for hard water then try to give additional Cal/Mag supplement.
#2 Your medium:
- Did you plant your seeds/germs into Rockwool? If so, did you buffer the RW cube to 5.5pH before use? = If you’ve RW there I would recommend to flush the RW slab and your netcup + reservoir with Hydrogen peroxide (3-6% mixed with water works well)
- Your Hydroton/Caly pebbles: did you wash and rinse them well before use? You should soak your Hydroton in 5.8pH water as well before usage (kinda like buffering them)
#3 - Cover your Hydroton. I see youve got an intense light so it penetrates through the pebbles into res, and roots dosn’t like light..
#4 replace your airpumps somewhere else. Right now theyre like drumming the reservoir lids which causes hydroton and whole ”root anchor” to shake and wiggle all the time.
#5 and one more time h2o2 aka Hydrogen Peroxide - you might have some bugs/pest/infection there.
I see youre not using beneficial bacteria (Hydroguard) so Peroxide wont do any harm.
Pharmacy/drug stores selling 3-6% Hydrogen Peroxide and that works well to kill any kind of bacteria.
Mix 1:4 h2o2:Water and rinse the net cup, your germ plug and let it drip into the reservoir.
Let it stand like that for couple hrs then do a res change.
And you can add like 1-5ml Hydrogen Peroxide in your new reservoir water, it will evaporate/turn into water in less than 12h. BUT I would highly recommend you to buy some beneficials such as Hydroguard or Cannas root beneficials.
Conclusion: your tap water is close to mine, which is very soft. BUT I highly doubt one reason as well could be chlorine or chloride. Chlorine evaporates when you let the water sit atleast 24h before use. Chloride does not evaporate so you could try with RO water as well.
- Those BOYU two output pumps wont generate too much oxygen in your 15L reservoir.
- Have you fed them something else amongst GHE TriPart? Because that could be Fe(iron) toxicity which causes almost every micro nutrient and some of the macros to lock out.
I bet your tap water has Fe amounts close to mine - and Micro has chelated iron on it.
- I assume youve some what kept your pH in 5.5-6.5 range. Even daily swings/drifts from 5.5 to ~6.3 wont cause that kind of symptoms and the growth is still that small so plant isn’t moving cells/ion binds upwards from lower leaves.
Hopefully some of these helps!
Oh and may I ask where you from since your rig and everything looks so similar to mine.
Hi friend! I love your set up, super clean and organized! I had some pineapple haze seeds that all did the same thing as far as the twisty leaves at two different grows by two different people. They grew out of it after about 4 weeks.
I’d recommend cleaning the buckets and soaking the air stones in peroxide and then with next nutes also add in a water conditioner and cal mag solution. Also a little puff of diatomaceous earth on the stones and leaves right now will help if there is anything super small in there, and won’t harm them is there’s not. Good luck! I’m excited to see how you do!
Where's your CalMag mate? Always add calmag in dwc might help with spots n droopy. Some mycorrhiaze to help prevent root rot. Lift your light and change to 18/6 light schedule, they like a break.
