So I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing with the nutrients. I've read a lot of the diaries so I'm just going a little lower than I've seen other people use. I moved him to a 5 gallon container with a large air stone and a drip system. I got more hydroton to fill the net pot and new T5 grow lights
The rip in his leaf is just due to cats being reckless not insects. His leaf tips were turning yellow so I raised the light a few inches. He seems to be growing slow but he did stretch a lot as a seedling so we will see how it goes
His roots started looking a little brown so I added a little extra hydroguard this week. His bottom leaf tips are drying up. I flushed him after 3 days with pHed water
I rinsed his roots under tap water during the reservoir change because they were still slightly brown and looked like they were sticking together and slimy.
Pre-res(before changing)
Res. temp: 75.5*F
Ppm: 185
pH: 5.86
Later in the week...I noticed his leaves were drooping so I took out about 1/3 gallon of water from the reservoir. I also aimed a fan at him slightly to hopefully encourage his stem to stiffen up. Roots still look slightly brown but less slimy (yayyy) :)
His roots have white little strands which if I have read correctly means hes getting better. I topped him hopefully that wont put too much stress on him. His pH keeps dropping and I'm not sure why.
His nodes grew pretty big so I decided to cut off all lower foliage so he focuses on growing his new leaves. Got new nutrient supplements throughout the week (courtesy of Mr. Beans❤️🤴) and added them as I got them. His leaves are not getting yellower or drier so I think thats a plus. I noticed some little black dots on the stems of the lowest leaves. They don't scrape off and they don't seem to be spreading. I havent noticed any bugs in my grow room besides the occasional daddy long leg.
So I asked Mr. Beans to check pH and he ended up realizing that hydroguard is labeled as mL/gal and EVERYTHING else was mL/liter so basically I have been underestimating everything by a 1/7th 🤧 (and I call myself a scientist pfft). His reservoir was fully cleaned and I tried to give a more appropriate amount of nutrients without overloading him so I hope to see some growth within the next week :)
Update: Hes growing!!! And he smells minty!!
He started growing a little faster. Some of his new leaves have lopsided growth but who am I to judge? His newer leaves were a shade lighter than the old ones which at first I assumed was just because the old ones grew forever ago but then some of his leaf stems started turning red. Some sites said it was either a deficiency or due to the light so I added some sensi and big bud. Either way his reservoir was changed and filled with 2 gallons of water. He drank almost half a gallon during the last week so thats good. His roots look like they are strained on the old roots but I'm not sure how to fix that. That's all for now. Good luck growing yall
So I cut off all lower leaves and left 2 leaves on each node. I'm not sure how long he is going to survive or how good his product will be if he does survive. We are going away for a few days this week so if he takes a turn for the worse we might just start again. I also removed the revive because he seemed to be getting nutrient burn and he didnt need that anymore. Either way we will keep you updated. Bye for now 👋
Update: so the day before our trip I found out that my extension cord pulled out of the wall so my air pump, lights, water pump, everything was off for a few hours. He still looked okay (roots looked a little darker) but I plugged everything back in so hopefully it stays plugged in
Update: His lights and air pump turned off while we were gone. Might have been a cat might have been gravity who knows. So we will sterilize everything while we wait to get more seeds and then we will start a new diary. Thank you for following along everyone good luck growing!
