Looks like the lemon auto wants to recover a little. I'm giving her lots of tlc! Northern lights is growing well!
Update: caught my idiot cat chewing on the leaf of the lemon auto. Hoping for more recovery... Plant is securely in it's tent now
Growing every day! Attempting some lst but these girls just want to be bushy AF
Update: accidentally removed a giant fan leaf which is leading to more light to bud sites. Hoping no adverse effects from this!
Seedsman lemon auto is about to take over. I honestly didn't think she would do well
Really hoping this northern lights does well. She's a bushy girl and responded well to some defoliation. Crazy how genetics works
12/20: lemon auto leaves were showing signs of deficiencies... Gave her a quick water flush.. the flowering stretch is REAL. Northern lights is just kinda chugging along... Pretty sure I may have stunted her. What a learning process!
Did some ballsy defoliation yesterday, but the girls seem to be rebounding well... Not sure if I stunted the northern lights plant or if she's just genetically shorter and bushier.
I find myself popping my head in the tent to check on them enough that my husband walked by and said "I wish you loved me as much as you love your plants"
12/23 update. Unsure what my leaves are trying to tell me. Soil felt a little dry so I took the opportunity for a pH balanced fairly heavy watering, no nutrients this feed. Maybe a salt build up since I've been giving light nutes with every feed? Last flush earlier this week with solid pH on the runoff, so maybe not. Maybe just too much nutrients in general. I'll back off for a bit and see how she does.
12/26 update: lemon auto is getting light burned AF. Wound up rearranging the light situation to take her farther away from the light, but still within it to get enough light for some (hopefully) dense buds. I think a bigger tent is in my future. Feeding every other, otherwise getting pH balanced water
Northern lights is perking up, I think I'm done rearranging her... For now. Not too much to report, future bud sites are lightening up a bit which gives me hope.
Lemon auto is still doing it's thing, I think she's going to have a decent yield!
It appears my cat is equally interested in this grow. She loves a good fan leaf
12/31: Rotated LA 180 degrees so that side could get a little light. Probably should have done this a bit earlier, considering the current space situation... My bad. It also appears NL is trying to spread out a bit more. It's definitely a 2 plant tent. I'm growing impatient since I just got more seeds in the mail!
1/2: Northern lights is looking like she maybe wants to really start doing something about flowering.. .still unsure if she's just slow growing or if I stunted her since I keep defoliating. Probably both.
1/4: NL clearly showing some sort of stress. Possibly light related? Gave a good flush today in case of pH issues. Will continue to monitor and adjust nutrients prn.
1/5: northern lights is still being fussy. Soils still pretty damp from last night's watering. I think I'll check another run off pH and adjust. LA is still beasting along. Rotated her some more. Hoping she finishes up quick... I'm running out of room in this tent
1/6: nothing too exciting. Watering + nutrients today.
1/8: did some plant rearranging because space is an issue. Northern light plant rotated and a shocking amount of delayed growth was noted. I pulled down the highest branch as I deduced that my leaf issues may have been light burn. Not really sure what is going to become of this plant... especially since I just did some rather aggressive large fan leaf removaI. I suspect I manipulated her too much during this grow and she may not reach max potential. I hope I'm wrong!
Lemon auto has been an absolute joy to grow so far. I got rid of some fan leaves so these buds can get as much light as possible. I believe she's got at least a few weeks before I can start thinking about harvesting. Trichomes are becoming a bit more obvious so she's starting to look frosty😍
1/12: impatiently waiting for lemon auto to finish up. Still not sure what the northern lights is trying to do, but..the little buds are slowly growing. S l o w l y...
1/14: things are getting out of hand in here. Northern lights is bushy AF again but the budlets appear to be increasing in size. Lemon is getting closer every day. Looks like I've got milky trichomes and the pistils are darkening. Still a bit early, but I'd be lying if I wasn't anxious for the space..
1/15: I've accepted that I have at least a week ish left on Lemon auto, but she's getting there! I did some rather risky defoliation on northern lights and holy shit, she's got potential. I'm hoping she's just a slow grower and those buds will really fatten up! Perhaps lemon is just a really fast growing plant? I've also decided that since space is limited, my best bet is to probably rotate the plants every other day to allow all bid sites an opportunity for direct light. I'm reigning myself in. Once lemon auto is harvested I need to NOT immediately plant another. I've got some mephosito seeds I want to get going, but I've learned my lesson. This tent fits two 5 gallon mature plants... Uncomfortably. Three is too many 😂
1/17: wondering if northern lights has is it her to fatten up. Gave her a good flush &feed. Popcorn buds or not, I'm invested (#forscience). Lemon auto is still finishing up. Can't get good enough pics with phone to see trichomes. Clearly, I have a minimum of a week left, but I got a digital microscope so I can keep track! Should be here for next update.
1/19: Not much to report today. Got a good look at lemon autos trichomes under a digital microscope. I guess this is just another week of saying "one more week" 😂
1/22: gave lemon auto a good pH balanced water flush, northern lights got some bloom nutrients to help those buds do their thing. Trichomes look mostly cloudy- a few amber on the sugar leaves which means it's only a matter of time!
1/24: lemon auto update: trichomes on some outer buds are amber! Main cold nug looks like it's about 100% cloudy trichomes. Will evaluate tomorrow for possible harvest?!
1/26:
-Lemon auto: I was THIS close to doing a partial harvest today. I'm opting to wait a couple more days, and then reassess. The trichomes somehow look less cloudy, but I'm unsure if that's related to the light on my microscope? Buds are looking delightful, smell keeps getting better. Overall, super impressed with this freebie seed.
-Northern light: still doing it's thing. My overall expectations are low for this plant. Honestly, it's my 4th attempt growing this particular strain.. and I've likely done everything wrong. However, my other plant has giving me a newfound confidence. I will figure out this plants love language, even if it takes me several more grows 😂
1/29:
-Lemon auto: harvested! I opted to keep a fair amount of stem since she looked a little dry and I didnt want to expedite the drying process. Will update weight before I put in jars to cure.
-Northern lights: Bushiness got out of control again so I did a fairly heavy defoliation. Buds are fattening up slowly, but they overall seem like they're going to be thin and possibly somewhat airy. Remaining cautiously optimistic.
This plant produced some dense, heavy buds! super easy to grow, resistant to user error. Will update weight before putting in jars for curing...and because I have zero self control, will also likely sample
4oz dried... Drying a bit more before putting in jars... Humidity shot up to 80ish. My bad. Sampled a bit and dang, she's sticky. I'd say sativa forward, strong pine notes. Got me feeling super chilled out
2/2: not much to report. Slow going, but going
2/5 NL: Still have a few weeks to go, but buds are fattening up. Watered with pH balance water as she was given nutrients on last watering. I didn't have high hopes for this plant. Still unsure of the density of the buds.
2/9 NL: slow going, but going.
2/11 NL: few more weeks? Gave pH balanced water today. Pistels seems to be darkening, which is encouraging. Going to check trichomes this weekend... Hopefully mostly cloudy at this point!
2/15 NL: I seem to be in the final stretch of things! Lots of white pistils still, but they're starting to curl in. Going to keep her in the tent and recheck this weekend! Harvest window is approaching! Very excited for the extra tent space.
2/19 NL: Not quite ready for harvest. Soon...
