All 6 seeds sprouted in wet paper towel with within 48 hours. Transplanted seeds into 2 oz plastic condiment cups filled with Dr. Bruce Bugbee's recommended media mix of 50/50 peat/vermiculite pre-amended with dolomite lime @ 40g per cu. ft. and gypsum @ 10g per cu. ft. After seedlings broke soil, all plants were fertilized with Jack's Peat Lite 20-10-20 @ 0.6g per liter (pH 6.2 and ec 1.3 ms/cm) until 10% runoff was reached. Light was turned on to 50% power on a 20/4 cycle.
Green algae began to bloom on the top of some pots, probably from too much moisture in the medium. The parts with algae were scraped off and discarded and fresh peat/verm was laid on top. The algae has not returned.
Day 15 - Fertigated with Jack's Peat Lite 20-10-20 @ 2.3g/gal (pH 5.6, ec 1.3 ms/cm)
Day 18 - Realized after further reading I should be fertigating at least once per day, keeping media saturation between 90-100%. Electrical conductivity from runoff was between 2.5 and 2.7 in all pots😱 Fertigated and flushed all pots with 1.23 ms/cm, pH 5.7 nutrient solution. It took between 2-3 gallons in each pot to lower runoff ec to 1.31 - 1.37, pH 5.6 - 5.9
Day 19 - Fertigated 0.5 gal per pot. Nutrient solution ec 1.18 - 1.29, pH 5.7 - 6.0. Runoff ec 1.36 - 1.49, pH 5.8 - 5. 9
Day 20 - Fertigated at ec 1.29, pH 5.7. Runoff between ec 1.33 - 1.44, pH 5.8 - 6.0. LST leaf tucking on all plants.
Day 21 - Fertigated at ec 1.22, pH 5.8. Runoff between ec 1.33 - 1.44, pH 5.8 - 6.0.
Day 29 - Fertigated with ec 1.29 ms/cm, pH 5.6. Runoff between 1.29 - 1.42 ms/cm, pH 5.6 - 5.8. More wire training on all but Mango Smile #2, which is still too small to train.
Day 30 - Fertigated with ec 1.29 ms/cm, pH 5.6. Runoff between 1.18 - 1.44 ms/cm, pH 5.6 - 5.7. More wire training on all but Mango Smile #2, which is still too small to train.
Day 31 - Fertigated with ec 1.31 ms/cm, pH 5.7. Runoff between ec 0.99 - 1.35 ms/cm, pH 5.7 - 5.9. Runoff ec seems low on the largest plants. Increased fertilizer by ~15% to reach ec 1.47. Will see tomorrow if this helps increase runoff ec to ~1.3 - 1.4.
Day 32 - Fertigated with ec 1.48 ms/cm, pH 6.5. Runoff between ec 1.25 - 1.44 ms/cm, pH 5.6 - 5.8. Increasing the fertilizer by ~15% has brought the ec back up to appropriate levels. Will continue with increased fertilizer as long as ec levels remain on target. All plants have started to flower/pre-flower.
Day 33 - Fertigated with ec 1.59 ms/cm, pH 6.2. Runoff between ec 1.33 - 1.58 ms/cm, pH 5.5 - 5.6. Some leaves canoeing from too much light. Raised light to 18" from canopy.
Day 34 - Fertigated with ec 1.57 ms/cm, pH 6.5. Runoff between ec 1.35 - 1.57 ms/cm, pH 5.6 - 5.7.
Day 35 - Fertigated with ec 1.56 ms/cm, pH 6.5. Runoff between ec 1.41 - 1.61, pH 5.5 - 5.7.
Day 43 - Fertigated with ec 1.32 ms/cm, pH 6.2. Runoff between ec 1.38 - 1.51 ms/cm, pH 5.3 - 5.9.
Day 44 - Fertigated with ec 1.34 ms/cm, pH 6.3. Runoff between ec 1.41 - 1.56 ms/cm, pH 5.3 - 5.9. Skywalker #2 pH 5.3. Tilled in 2 tablespoons of dolomite lime to raise pH.
Day 45 - Fertigated with ec 1.35 ms/cm, pH 6.3. Runoff between ec 1.38 - 1.56 ms/cm, pH 5.4 - 5.9. Skywalker #1 @ 33", AVT #1 & 2 @ 32". Noticing some purple leaves on Skywalker #2 and Mango Smile #1.
Day 46 - Fertigated with ec 1.33 ms/cm, pH 6.5. Runoff between ec 1.47 - 1.54 ms/cm, pH 5.6 - 6.0.
Day 47 - Fertigated with ec 1.37 ms/cm, pH 6.4. Runoff between ec 1.46 - 1.62 ms/cm, pH 5.5 - 5.9.
Day 48 - Fertigated with ec 1.34 ms/cm, pH 6.5. Runoff between ec 1.38 - 1.54 ms/cm, pH 5.5 - 5.8. Some slight calcium deficiency in two upper leaves on Skywalker #2. Tap water should have enough calcium so it's likely a result of the low pH (5.4) several days ago. Will continue to monitor as the dolomite lime should slowly raise the pH while adding calcium and magnesium to the media.
Day 49 - Fertigated with ec 1.41 ms/cm, pH 6.4. Runoff between ec 1.53 - 1.61 ms/cm, pH 5.4 - 5.6. Used all 8 gallons from reservoir but ec remains a little high. I will begin fertigating twice a day to prevent salt buildup in the media.
Day 50 - Fertigated with ec 1.38 ms/cm, pH 6.4. Runoff between ec 1.46 - 1.71 ms/cm, pH 5.4 - 5.5.
Day 51 - Fertigated with ec 1.35 ms/cm, pH 5.8. Runoff between ec 1.45 - 1.50 ms/cm, pH 5.3 - 5.7. Calcium deficiency appeared on two top leaves of AVT #2. Added 1.5 Tbsp (half of recommended dose) CaliMagic to 9 gallons of nutrient solution. Hopefully this will prevent further calcium deficiencies on other leaves/plants.
Day 52 - Fertigated with ec 1.38 ms/cm, pH 5.8. Runoff between ec 1.53 - 1.65 ms/cm, pH 5.3 - 5.6.
Day 53 - Fertigated with ec 1.46 ms/cm, pH 5.5. Runoff between ec 1.53 - 1.62 ms/cm, pH 5.1 - 5.4.
Day 75 - Into the final few weeks. Skywalker #2 is locked out, but trichs are mostly milky with a little amber, so she is being flushed for the next few days before being chopped. She never developed like her sisters, but that's certainly my fault as a first time grower. AVT #1 has about 10 massive colas and AVT #2 has some beautiful purple hues on several buds. Mango Smile will be the last to finish. Her trichs are mostly clear so I expect 3 weeks or more on her. The others have a mixture of clear and milky trichs so hopefully they will be ready in the next couple weeks.
Day 79 - Skywalker #2 will be getting the chop sometime this week. Lowering the temps to 66-70°F has brought out more purple on all except Mango Smile. Smell is becoming almost too much for the 6" carbon filter.
Day 80 - Skywalker #2 chopped after one week of flushing. Drying conditions: temperature 60°F, humidity 50%
Day 81 - AVT #1, AVT #2, and Mango Smile trichomes mostly cloudy with few clear. Skywalker #1 mostly cloudy with few amber.
Day 89 - Chop day for Skywalker #1. Trimmed fan leaves only and will dry for 10-14 days at 45-55% humidity, 60-70°F. Skywalker #2 has been drying for 9 days and still has a few days left.
Day 90 - Trichomes cloudy throughout, with some amber, and even pink/purple trichomes on both AVT plants. Just gonna let them ripen another week or so until I hit 20% amber.
First grow = success! 45g dry from one plant and 73g from the other. Following the advice of Dr. Bruce Bugbee, I used Jack's Peat Lite 20-10-20 from day 1 through harvest with no other nutrients. I had some low pH issues late into flower, but overall it was easy to grow with no real issues from the plants themselves. Flowers are sticky, small, and compact. Smell very piney and fresh. Taste is piney, earthy and somewhat lemony. Well balanced high that is great for after work or on weekends. The buds are now curing for the next 30 days. After curing, I will report back with a final review.
Harvested days 80 and 89. Easy to grow strain that handled every mistake I threw at it. I would say it's a good strain for new growers since it seemed quite resilient. I had some low pH issues issues late into flower which took a few weeks to correct, almost certainly affecting the yield. I will definitely grow this again.
I've been a cannabis smoker for over 15 years. I've smoked a lot of good dope, and this is some of the strongest I've ever smoked. The smell and the taste are unreal. While growing, it smelled like a candy store, very sweet and fruity. After drying, the smell is very sweet/citrusy and very skunky. Dried flowers are sticky and very pungent. It was not very forgiving of my mistakes as a first time grower. While she did gow tall and wide, all her flowers were loose and fluffy. I chalk that up to my inexperience, not genetics. Still, she managed to produce 85 dry grams of fluffy, very potent bud. Will update review after a 30 day cure.
Harvested on day 94. Fantastic strain. Strong high, great taste, great smell, high yield. Not as forgiving to mistakes, so probably not a great option for first-time growers, but more experienced growers should definitely giver her a go. I will definitely grow this again soon.
Day 94 - And then there were two. Mango Smile harvested and hung to dry. Both Alien Vs Triangle plants are taking their time to ripen. Just waiting for a good 20% amber trichomes.
congrats on the harvest. I'm using Bruce Bugbee Method as well (1st grow), are you going to use that Peat/Vermiculite medium again or do you think it can be only used once!
Great following along with your grow. I just started the same.
You show you are watering about .5l per 24hrs per plant how much runoff are you getting?
I water every few days using a soil probe and weight to determine dryness. But, I may switch to more regular lighter watering if I can get your results.
@Dusty_Shackleford, well I am definitely going to make some changes to my watering. I probably water about 1/3 of what you do.
My plants appear healthy but my yield is typically about an ounce. AVT will get more water going forward. Thank you for your assistance
@Aberj3, At this point it's up to about 1.5 gallons per plant per day. During veg it was about 0.5 gal per plant and I watered once per day. I now water twice per day and always get at least 20% runoff. I would strongly suggest an automatic watering system because hand watering and measuring runoff takes about 2 hours every day.
