It's a bit late. You try and bend that main stem, she will most likely snap... I've done it... Must have us have. But what you can do is try and bend the lower branches out so they're not overshadowed by the main but, most of them will do that anyway so maybe just leave it this time.... Your Mimosa may start soon to go into preflower, for now there no pistils or white hairs showing yet ,instead of chopping of leaves try to bend them or tuck them ,you can chop few that cover bud sites ,but not in one go to avoid stress her even more.I would do 1-2 leaves a day others tuck and bend.
I do NOT "defoliate". The plant gets it's energy from the leaves. Less leaves = less energy = less buds. If the plant is short I will sparingly remove very low annoying leaves that make watering difficult. In flower I will remove leaves that are really shading bud sites where tucking doesn't work.
And I'll remove leaves from the very bottom that are heavily shaded. But, I don't remove leaves if I can help it. Even leaves at the bottom in the shade are a source of nutrients for the upper parts of the plant and they serve as an early warning for nutrition problems as they will show mobile nutrient deficiencies first.
Mine vegged 6wks aswell she gets big. I started to LST her around wk 2 and also fimmed her. Which worked out great really made her get wide and full instead of just growing upwards
Great looking plant. My autos have always thrown pistils by 28 days so this one is going longer for you. It's not showing yet. I'd start lst if you don't have the height. Also, you can do 20 to 24 hours daily with an auto. You are short changing yourself at 16 hours. If this doesnt show soon you might have to flip to 12 hours to flower.
