Popped her in Rapid Rooter then put her in the Clay Pebbles in the net pot. Hand watered around the plug.
No roots showing up yet. Net pot lid is 6" deep and 6" in diameter.
Using the Maxibloom Lucas Formula for Bubbleponics DWC.
Using 3 grams of Maxibloom for the seedlings. Will up the ppms as she gets bigger and I notice a drop in TDS.
I added Myco+ from Element Nutrients to help with benes since my water is above 70F.
I also added Hydroguard.
I do have UC Roots on hand in case something happens and I need to go sterile.
My first time ever doing hydro so its a learning experience.
Noticed the 1st set of leaves are getting light green to yellow. Some spots maybe drops of water LED cooked it.
The 3 fingered leaf looks better. Could be from the LED lights as I have already moved them up 1" to 13" instead of 12"
Maybe its because the roots havent reached or maybe the plug is staying too wet.
The pH is floating from 5.5 to 6.4. Ive been able to get it to stay in range longer after the first 4 days of struggling
to keep the pH from going to 6.6 in just 24hrs. Maybe I have to bubble my tap water 24 hrs before I add it to the bucket.
I also have Citric Acid and Potassium Bicarbonate to adjust ph as wells as GH pH up and down.
I didnt change the reservoir yet as no roots were growing until this week.
Theres 2 roots now and 1 is in the water now. So far they look good.
Upper leaves look better than last week.
I check the pH daily and adjust to 5.5 to 5.8 as needed.
It doesnt take that much pH down now to move it back down which is good.
My tap water is 177ppm. GH Maxibloom has all the Macro and Micro nutes in the mix.
Going to increase to 7g/gal of Maxibloom when she starts digging into the seedling solution.
Day 14- Lots of roots have emerged from the net pot now. They look really nice and white and healthy.
Day 15 - Plant got greener now that roots are in nutrient solution. Water level down slightly and ppm nudged up a little. pH was 6.6 so used Citric Acid bring it down close to 5.5. Roots look nice. Hope she takes off soon.
Day 17 - Changed out buckets for vegetative nute strength. I used 7g of Maxibloom per gal but didnt factor in my 220ppm tap water so the TDS was 1100. I had to take some water out and add fresh water to lower it close to 800ppm
I will have to figure out next time how many grams I need to reach 800ppm as to not waste nutes. I added 3g of Myco+ and 6ml of Hydroguard.
End of week 3 - Seems to be growing and is healthy.
Day 22 - Growth is steady but not as fast as I'd thought once roots got in water. Roots look white and healthy. pH is now slowly floating. Bought a new batch of pH Down and it works better.
Day 24 - Topped her above the 5th node
Day 26 - She's hot a nice green color and she's working on her new branches. Added aluminum foil over the clay pebbles to keep any light out.
Day 29 - Tranferred to 4X4 Grow tent using Mars Hydro TS3000 at 75% power. Topped off half gallon of water.
She looks healthy and growing nicely. Literally no sign of stress from the topping. She's droopy because she's on new time lights off were 5pm to 11pm now it's 8pm to 2am off. Her circadian rhythm usually gets ready to sleep at 4pm. So she gets an extra 3 hrs of light.
Day 32 - She has exploded in growth. Grew 5 inches in 2 days. Showing yellow tips on new growth shoots. I lowered the light levels to 50%. I also changed the bucket cleaned it out and put new Maxibloom nutes and Hydroguard.
Roots are really nice and white still.
Day 37 - Drilled holes to add tomato cage to LST the girl. I accidentally broke one of the branches real good. I put duct tape on her so we'll see if she heals or if I gotta top that branch.
She's growing nicely. Did a water change the other day. Upped my Hydroguard to 2.5ml per gal and stopped using the Myco+. Roots look really good still. Still lots of white. She drinking water consistently as well.
Day 39 - Growing nicely after LST. She drank half a gallon water and nutes.
Day 44 - Added Calimagic a few days ago due to brown spots showing on middle leaves. New growth looks ok.
She is starting to grow out more and fill in.
Day 47 - She's growing faster. She's drinking 1/2 gal water a day. She looks real nice and even color.
Day 49 - Cleaned and Changed the bucket. Ppm is higher to prepare for the stretch after flipping next week. She's growing nicely.
Defoliated her a bit to improve airflow because she was wetting herself.
Day 54 - She drank 1 gallon of 1100ppm nutes in 1 day. I now premixed 2 gallons of Maxibloom nutes for topping off. Going to do a complete change out of the solution on Monday when I flip the whole grow tent.
Day 57 - Flipped the light schedule to 12/12. Time for the stretch. Red bloom lights on the smaller LEDs are on. Temps went up 2F from. 76F to 78F..
Temps at floor level is 70F.
Day 64 - I did some light trimming to let light get down below the canopy to bud sites. She's stretching pretty good. 3 inches the last 2 days. She's starting week 2 of the flower stretch. More preflowers are popping up now.
Day 68 - Noticeable stretch now. Tops are now outgrowing the other bud sites. Weird looks like a straight line almost. She's growing faster now. Hopefully she doesn't get too much taller. I can go maybe 45 inches tall with her.
Day 71 - Whew. She is growing probably faster than I want her too. LOL. She is 38" tall and 5 sq ft in size. Lots of branches stretched real nice. Lots of bud sites are showing up all over.
I did some targeted defoliation to try to get more light down to the middle and lower bud sites.
Day 72 - I cleaned out the bucket. It wasn't that bad but she wasn't drinking that much nutes. It was swinging 1200ppm to 1800 and pH was going down to 5.4
So I made new batch of nutes at 850 and we'll see if that's close to what she's eating.
Day 80 - Lots of flowers starting. They are growing nicely. The stretch seems to be over now. Next is peak bloom and the smell. Slight smell now smells like grape bubble gum or berries.
Day 90 - Everything is going great. Lowered the humidity to around 50%.
Dropped the ppm of the nutes. She wasn't eating for awhile and the ppm were going up to 1400 after drinking 1 gallon of solution. So I did bucket change and put lower nute strength around 800. After 2 days the ppm hasn't spiked and the pH isn't going to 5 now.
The buds continue to get drenched in trichromes. Branches are a little heavier and buds are swelling still.
Day 99 - Slight defoliation again. Buds are thickening. Some pistols turning orange. Buds are drenched in trichromes. Looking really yummy. She's drinking 1 gal a day still.
Day 105 - Topping off with 1 gal of water a day still. Ppm is maintaining around 800. Seems to be her sweet spot. Ph fluctuations are 5.6 to 6.4. Everything still looking good.
Day 106 - I have confirmed 2 buds went herm and popped out naner pods. I excised them carefully with precision snips. Checked the rest and saw no more male naners.
Other than it trying to have sex with itself everything is looking great, The ppm is steady mid 800s. pH is going from 5.7 to 6.3 daily. No wild swings. Just waiting for her to fatten up and ripen up.
Trichromes are drenched on her. Lots of resin. Smells is very strong. Even the 6" carbon filter is having issues keeping up with the smell now. Come home at night and you can smell them. Not as strong as the Super skunks I grew last time though.
Day 113 - She's getting heavier. Went to change the bucket and was hard balancing the lid when lifting it. She's really top heavy. Water was brownish. I just topped off for 2 weeks. She's still drinking 1 gal water solution a day
Day 121 - This DWC grow is fun. It's my first and next grow I'm doing all DWC. This Kush plant is crazy heavy now. Lifting the lid to change the water is a chore now.
But they are yummy so it's worth it.
Day 127 - Everything looking good. Leaves starting to show signs of senescence beginning. Harvest is around the corner. Harvest window is open. Most trichromes are milky with a few amber. Waiting for more amber with this strain for the medicinal properties I need for insomnia and chronic pain.
Put yellow sticky trap over the net cup opening as fungus gnats invaded the bucket and laid eggs. Larvae were on sides of bucket and in the water. I flooded the bucket 2 times to drown the adults and trap the ones trying to escape the flood. Seems to have worked well. Changed bucket again less larvae than last week. I will setup my grows with these sticky traps over the net pot in future grows although I'm going all DWC and no soil after I disinfect the grow tent and equipment.
Wow this DWC has been really cool. She has taken a beating from the extra LED lights on her top 2 colas. The fan leaves got a little light burn and possible heat stress due to me lowering the humidity with the dehumidifier.
Temps here in the Mid Atlantic are starting to go up. Was in the 80s today so I put the A/C in the window and got my high velocity fan to push the air into the grow room. So Temps in the tent were hitting 81F but now back down to 75-76F with lights on.
Other than that she is still drinking about 1 gallon of solution a day. She's still looking good. I've had to tie up many of the smaller branches as they aren't able to hold up the buds anymore.
Hoping this baby is a pound dry.
This was my first DWC grow. It turned out real nice. I got a decent amount of bud and lots of larf and trim.
Next time I'll focus on. Lollipopping them better. I didn't weight the bud wet but will update in a couple days on the dry weight.
The buds and trim were very sticky.
I got 15qt bags of trim and larf from all 3 Purple Kush plants. Will bubble bag then.
