For this Grow I will be using an ebb and flow system and General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients.
12/25: I started three Wedding Cake seeds and two Chemdog seeds in rock wool cubes. I used a nutrient solution of the base nutrients at 350ppm on the 500 scale ph to 5.5.
12/31: Great way to start off the new year with 100% germination.
1/2:
After just a few days roots started poking out of the cubes. I then transplanted 2 Wedding Cake and two Chemdog seedlings into 6x6x6in. Hugo blocks. I had one Wedding cake seedling left over and I am going to continue growing it in the small cube to just see what happens. I feel like I may have transplanted too soon and that the seedlings could have stayed longer in the starter cubes.
1/11 : I moved the plants to the ebb and flow system. And the plants are looking good. My temps and humidity are very stable and the exhaust fan is only turning on three or four times a day.
I have one wedding cake plant in the starter cube still and it has tons of roots coming out of the cube. I think I will be keeping the seedlings in the starting cubes for longer instead of transplanting to soon.
Plants are looking great.
last weeks nutrient solution was at 540 ppm with a ph of 6.5.
I will be using 7 gallons of solution in the reservoir this week.
This week has been good so far.
I changed the nutrient schedule to a more aggressive feed. The T.D.S is at 1160 with a ph of 6. Only one feeding a day seems sufficient for now.
I have switched out the light to the HLG 225 because the plants have out grow the 65 watt veg light.
Temps and humidity are still staying in range but I will be adding an a.c. unit this week.
Topped all the plants and did some light defoliation.
One of the wedding cake plants is already growing pistols. I’m am now convinced that the seeds are auto flowers and not feminized like it says on the package.
On 1/29 the plants have reached the desired height. I then switched to the 12/12 light schedule and changed the nutrient solution to the early bloom recipe.
I change to a 12/12 light schedule this week.
One of the wedding cake plants has decided to flower and has stretched to 18 inches tall. The other two wedding cake plants seem to be fine. All the plants are starting to stretch a little now and it won’t be long before flowers start to form.
I lowered the humidity to 50% and everything seems to be good.
I topped the plants last week and removed the top fan leaves that were covering some bud sites and overall I’m happy with the results. Once the plants have stopped stretching I will do a final defoliation. I also took the branches from the lower part of the plant and zip tied them to the main stem. The branches are in now along side the two main stems and should produce some good colas.
This week was a bummer. I Had to let one of the ladies go and mold is forming on top of the grow media
The wedding cake plant in the front of the tent had begun to show signs of fox tailing. The plant also grew tall and was blocking out the light to the other plants. It grew so close to the lights that the buds and leaves were beginning to burn. In the end I decide to pull the plant.
After pulling the Wedding Cake plant I moved the other plants around. With more light the plants seemed to perk up a little.
Mold has formed on top of the rockwool cubes. I have reduced the number of water cycles down to twice a day. I need to get another fan inside the tent to dry things up a bit.
