I see a lot of plants here at GrowDiaries, and they are all stretching out a lot and are very airy. Why is my Amnesia so compact and bushy? Does anyone have tips?

Hi friend, your plant is looking healthy! A nice canopy of dense green leaves producing plenty of sugars for the plant will leave you with a good yield of buds (you can look at my Euforia journal for an example of an extremely dense heavy yielder). If you are looking for a stretcher plant structure, genetics can be a factor (think "sativas"), or reducing your light intensity can induce more stretching and more distance between the nodes. But you should be pleased with what you've grown so far, I would take that over an overly airy stretchy plant. If it's absolutely too dense for you, you could remove a few fan leaves from the most dense portions and if they are laying over bud sites. But be careful, you don't want to take too many! Happy growing 👍🌱

Kolibri I only use rainwater for watering, which is collected and stored in a barrel with selected stones. Since I use my own - highly potent and living - soil, it’s enough for me to occasionally add compost or use green manure. I have mycorrhiza, companion plants, pill bugs, worms, and who knows what else in the bags.

I know it's still a while until the harvest. But since I grow completely organically, I'm wondering if I should flush before the harvest. Does it make sense - or is it even possible - to flush living soil?

Just give plain water for the last 7-10 days before harvest, nothing else.

I grow organically with slow release dry amendments. I Dont flush in the sense of runoff but i time the last feed about 3 weeks from harvest. Then use just phd water til the end.

If your not adding anything and just watering because your using an organic "Super Soil" There is not much you can do in terms of flushing. Flushing is what @B_dawg does, water only for the last phase of growth. It is done with added nutrients since most of them are salt based and buildup in the medium. Adding only water for the last bit removes this buildup and ensures the final bud's don't have excess amounts in them when your drying. Happy Growing

Kolibri The lady is amazingly hungry, maybe I really need to apply some nutrients. I added more worm humus and watered with more mineralized water. The lamp is now hanging higher, so hopefully I can manage the burns. There's no more vertical growth happening, which I find a bit disappointing since I was hoping for more yield. At least the buds are filling out and getting bigger. I lowered the night temperature and hope for a reddish coloration. A bit overwatered, but hopefully she'll bounce back. 01/12 A deficit is becoming apparent, I've already taken countermeasures, but with organic growing it takes a bit longer. This Amnesia is my first autoflowering plant; otherwise, I only use regular seeds. The rapid growth she's putting on seems to overwhelm the soil without synthetic nutrients. For the next plants, I either need to provide more soil or use nutrients after all. I'll see. 01/13 Raised TDS to 290, practically overnight there was an improvement.

Kolibri 16.01. Mangan deficiency! There's nothing I can do about it at this stage. I miscomposed my substrate since I've only grown photoperiod strains so far. I've now adjusted the substrate for the other auto plants. I'm learning ;) 18.01. Nitrogen is being depleted, which is normal and also desired. 19.01. Nice color, unfortunately due to a deficiency... 20.01. Heavy infestation of fungus gnats. I didn't notice it because of the dense canopy. Now I know what's causing the deficiency, the roots are being eaten! I've applied neem oil solution and tomorrow I'll water in nematodes. 21.01. After 24 hours, the yellow trap is full. Surprisingly, only this one plant is infested. 22.01. I feel for her!

Kolibri 24.01. The plant is approaching harvest. I made a few mistakes, but it's my first autoflowering grow and I still have some seeds left. Considering that I underestimated the nutrient needs and only recognized a heavy infestation of fungus gnats late, it has developed quite nicely. From now on, it's just osmosis water with a pH of 6. 28.01. The buds are gaining mass. 29.01. It's such a shame about these buds. Next time, I'll do better!

I like to harvest photoperiod plants in stages, so first the ripe buds at the tops and I let the rest continue to mature. Does this also work with autoflowering, or does it stop growth as soon as I use the scissors?

Reduce watering amount, they will be in shock from that for a bit, but you can easy do in steps. Think will you have space to dry two harvests too ??? All the Best !

Yes it’s a commonly used technique for autos as well. No worries there. I’ve done it on a few autos when I first started growing and it was fine. Good luck

@Kolibri hi there mate yes you can safely harvest any buds that are ready to be harvested and the rest of the plant will happily continue to grow as long as you keep providing the same conditions

Kolibri 31.01. The buds are continuing to grow, although slower than hoped. Trichomes are 80% clear. 03.02. She's diligently producing more buds. The stems are short, but almost completely covered in flowers. I really have to be careful not to catch any mold.

Kolibri 07.02. The buds are continuing to gain mass and the trichomes are slowly changing color. From now on, there will be no more water, as I will be harvesting soon.

Kolibri 10.02. Today I cut her down. She hasn't reached her full potential yet, only about 5% of the trichomes are amber. But a lot went wrong with the plant, and I can make better use of the space with new plants. Now it's drying, and afterward, I'll update the diary.
