Thank you FastBuds for the opportunity to try Blackberry. This will be a first time for these genetics. Can't wait to see what kind of results we get. I feel like I'm in a better mental place for this grow.
As week 1 comes to an end a weird mutation may have formed/appeared, trileaf nodes. As you can see with the last these leaves and branches are all on the same line. Makes me curious to see what happens.
This is going to be a for grow indeed. We have a three headed monster growing. Each node is a different arrangement of 3 laterals. Never had a mutation like this. But I am honestly excited to find out where this goes.
I've decided to start training already w/ a super simple form of training, the ponytail. I'm doing two rounds and going to see what happens with that. I'll do some LST in a week or so.
Week 3 saw the start of the real training. Started performing LST and selective defoliation. There was a panic scare at one point when one of the circulation fans fell into the pot and hit part of the plant. It didn't break any stems, but it did damage some leaves. She is responding well to the training so far. There are no visible issues. I just need to leave her alone so she can grow up some before I consider more training.
I think she is close to having her final base shape. Now it’s time to let her grow through the stretch. She hasn’t shown any issues so far with temperatures, training, or nutrients. I like what I have seen to this point.
Some of the laterals have now developed the three head mutation. I’m hoping that means the plant was successfully confused in where to send the growth hormones to say “I’m the main top.” Excited to see where we go.
She is taking off and has doubled her height in one week. The lights are nearly maxed out in the tent for how high I can set them. This is turning out really well.
She is shaping up nicely. I'm pleased with the amount of growth during the stretch. Can't wait to see how many flowers she develops. I really enjoy the plant training braces. They are soft effective. I plan to use them if any more laterals get long enough to be pushed away their main. She will probably get a decent defoliation soon.
She grew ten inches from the start to the end of week 5. What a beast! She barely has any room left now and is approximately 11-12 inches from the light. The “good” thing is that the tallest nodes are not directly under the lights. This will be my first test to see how close the plant can get before bleaching.
This is turning into quite the plant. I’ve decided to up the nutrients for the 2nd to last week of nutrients. Based on what I’ve seen this should be ready for chop by week 11. So next week nutrients again and then flush. I missed adding the silica so I’ll wait to see if she shows any issues before adding it. The color on her is very nice, parts look very purple, other parts look almost chocolatey.
She is not showing any signs of bleaching, which is nice. I was worried she was too close at less than 10 inches. She has some slight fox tailing, but I’m not worried about that. She is also starting to show her weight with some of the branches now leaning wherever the bulk of the weight is. Her nugs feel pretty dense right now and hope they stay that way through the dry and cure.
Week 9 and we have started to flush the plant. The fade is happening at a good rate. We are on pace to harvest at week 11. She became so heavy that we had to install a paracord brace. Then use pipe cleaners on specific branches.
This is going to probably be her last full week in flower. She is set to be chopped around the 4th day of week 11. This could of course change, but I hope not. I'm looking to maintain a schedule.
This was a very easy grow. She had a good stretch and good fade. We achieved 25oz. of wet weight and 6oz. of dry weight. We also had 5oz. of wet trim that we have used to make a THCA tincture. Some of the flower will be converted into a syrup for edibles. We haven’t tried the edibles yet but do look forward to it.
