For this grow my lady and I will be growing our own Sour Stompers side by side! She's watched me throughout the years but never grown her own so with me and the help of the GD community we should be in for another great harvest. It's not a competition...until she says it is.
Day 3 - Broke soil yesterday, misting the top layer every 8 hours to keep the soil moist for the first few days. Seed shells should be popping off soon!
Day 5 - Took longer for the shells to come off, needed some help again. Makes me worried that my soil is still too hot and these will be stunted like my last Sour Stomper :(
Day 6 - Everything looks alright now, normal growth and coloring on the leaves. It was just a slow start but I'm not expecting it to make a huge difference in the end. Hers is looking a little healthier than mine at the moment.
Day 8 - Looking good! Topped off both of the pots with some more FFOF to compensate for the stretching while trying to get the seed shell off. No more misting, real waterings now but only about .2 L every 2 days.
Day 11 - Some decent growth in the past 3 days but not really where I'd expect them to be for 11 days in.
Day 23 - Hers is beginning to flower. Side-branching is just now starting to develop so I'm not expecting a huge yield from this stunted grow.
Day 25 - Both plants are flowering now. Yesterday I started some LST on my plant. I think it's too late for hers since it's so tall and the stalk might be too rigid at this point. Some crispy edges and a few dots on her fan leaves, might have to submit a grow question if it persists.
Day 30 - Hers has a mild thrip problem so I tried to kill as many with my fingers and then applied Captain Jack's Spinosad. It doesn't look too devastating but I've never dealt with thrips before so I really don't want it to get out of hand. I've continued the LST on his which should make for an interesting comparison between the two plants. No nutes yet as my FFOF has been running kinda hot lately.
Overall I'm very surprised with how these 2 plants bounced back after a very slow start. It may have taken a while to get to flowering but the main stems are very thick and I expect another decent harvest from my favorite Mephisto strain.
Day 31 - His has popped right up from the last round of LST and some side branches are already benefitting from the extra light.
Day 33 - Short video tour of the tent!
Day 37 - Hers is in the lead with some early frost coming in. I think the LST on his will be very beneficial, much better than if I just let her grow natural. Just finished trimming my Auto WWxBB so a little too lazy to set up the good camera, phone pics for today.
Day 39 - Looking good!
Day 44 - Hers is starting to bulk up and pistils are turning orange. His is not far behind. Gave his a feeding of Tiger Bloom this morning, we'll see if the lady wants to feed hers or just keep going.
Day 51 - Hers is looking great. All medium to large buds, and smells so grapey! Probably 1 - 2 more weeks. His is not as far along but I'm liking what the early training did. Looks like there's 3 main stalks now which look like they're just about to start fattening up.
Day 53 - Flushing
Day 58 - Hers is chunky! Still has another week or so but I'm very impressed with it at this point. His has at least 2 more weeks. The grape smell is strong in the tent.
Day 64 - Scratch that, hers looks like it's just entered the harvest window so I'm leaving it up to my lady to see when she wants to chop. Might come down tonight.
Day 67 - Hers is chopped, his has just a few more days at most.
Day 68 - Probably chopping his today. Main bud is showing close to 25% amber while others are more like 5-15%.
My partner wanted to do a causal grow with me so we decided two of the same strain would be best. They were both planted in the same medium and given roughly the same nutrient schedule. The main difference was hers grew naturally while his underwent LST. In the end hers had the larger yield but his had more dense buds. We had fun watching the plants develop side by side and are excited to be able to sample the buds in a few weeks!
