Day 38 and the flowers are starting to develop.
Soil was preamended and then top dressed on day 30. Started the seed in a solo cup and then transplanted on day 4. One week dose of CalMag was given on day 30 as well.
Noticed so lower leaf yellowing so did a light top dress of bud and bloom ferts. Also tried brewing up my first compost tea using the bud and bloom at 25% strength. Seemed to slow the yellowing a bit, but also seems to have burned some leaf tips. Yellowing continues on lower leaves. Watered with Cal-Mag because its a 2-0-0 and thought a bit of nitrogen would be helpful.
Some nutrient burn issues I believe, but I'm just running water now. The buds have swollen up a good bit and I think she will finish within about 2 weeks. Great sweet smell on this one. Glad I have a couple more seeds left to pop in the future.
She seems to be finishing nicely and bud swelling seems to have stopped. Main colas have pistils turning and retracting. Lower bud sites are starting to finish up. The calyxes on this plant are massive.
So I did a partial harvest on the hopes that the plant will finish up the remaining branches. One branch was pollinated about 5 weeks ago so I'm trying to let that one go as long as possible to finish up seed development. Not sure if it worked, but hopefully - the calyxes seem extra big on the pollinated branch, but the pistils don't seem to want to turn. I probably should have pollinated a higher branch that got more light.
So she is finishing up for sure. Not the most beautiful plant after some nutrient burn issues, but I think she had finished up nicely. I think the nutrient issues were related to not PHing a dose of compost tea made with Dr. Earths Bud and Bloom and also letting my medium dry out too much (it's mostly coco).
I've already done a partial harvest of a few branches and have those trimmed up and in jars curing now. Will post a harvest report once I get the full plant pulled in a couple days. I attempted to pollinate one of the branches which is why I'm letting it go longer. I also want to see the difference between an early and late harvest since this is my first grow.
Very thick stalk in a 3gal pot. Semi dense buds. Lots of trichomes. Very sweet, baked goods smell with some banana mixed in. Did a partial harvest on 2-12 and had some bud in a jar curing for almost two weeks now. Sweet, baked goods taste on the smoke so far, but still waiting for a longer cure before really digging in.
SMOKE REPORT - Lovely sweet flavors of baked goods with some banana notes coming through. Smell is the same, extremely sweet with a bit of a banana fruit mixed in. Mostly uplifting and happy smoke with a bit of body high.
Full harvest on day 80. Harvested a couple branches earlier. Trying to determine when I prefer it in terms of trichome cloudy percent, but I usually prefer daytime smoke. Based upon what I already harvested (23g), I think I'll get at least another 28g dry off of what was harvested this weekend.
Had some nutrient issues where I think I gave them a bit too much, but overall I think it turned out pretty good for my first grow. I will definitely grow this one again.
Mate. Just cause one or 2 leafs turn yellow doesn't mean anything. If you had a nitrogen issue or any issue for that matter you'll see it on a lot more leafs. And, as you can see, it's all turned one color, not spots, no leaf degradation. If you look at my hydro you'll see the end leafs are like yours too. Its really nothing just the genetics of that plant. They are fine, they don't even have to be removed but best to, if you start messing with stuff just cause you see changes on 1 or 2 leafs you'll make it worse than better, trust me. I was like that too, when first starting, you'd be surprised at how resilient your plants can be, best to keep the course and wait, espically when it's the case of the leaf being a uniformed color and another thing, no matter if you had the best nute in the world, you wouldn't get that to go back green unless it changes color cause it wants too, understand? It's a living thing, like ppl, we get deformities/birthmarks. If you had of kept the course you wouldn't have burned your plant. Which were/are excellent looking, cause when you said nitrogen issues, I was like, WHAT, WHERE. lol. Your grow looks great pal. Keep it up. Oh, and if I were you I'd really consider switching to 12/12 they are autos, see how it's already growing buds and you haven't even switched to flowering. You are just wasting energy, and thinning your bottom line.
Looking good man. Just a couple of pointers to help out, Get those lights closer. If you do not already have a PAR meter & a thermal gun to read temps get them ASAP. They will really help you get the most out of your lights, 100W should be squatted down nice and close. Lack of light intensity will lead to airy buds & not very much cake. Secondly, it is a little late now but next time, Keep your temps within 9 degrees for veg & up to week 4 of flower. Cannabis plants stretch a lot when they are receiving larger than 10 degree temp swings between day night cycles. When we pass week 4 of flower we want to open that gap up past 10 degrees. The same stress signals that would have told the plant to stretch will now tell it to chunk up more and produce more resin. If you get the time check out my diary and follow my profile, If you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to ask ! Happy growing
@LegacyMarketFarm, hey thanks for the help! I put up a scrog net and wish I hadn't in hindsight. The Pina in the middle of the tent shot up and made keeping the lights even a pain and the net makes moving stuff kinda impossible. I'll check your journal out for sure!
