New grower.
I started my first beans in Feb of 2021 and have had pretty good results while learning lessons.
Lots of great growers with great ideas out there.
Thank you for all your effort in documenting your grows.
OK this is my first Diary! YAY!!
This strain is Auto Gelato(mom) from Herbies that I hit with pollen I collected from an Original Afghan #1 from Seedsupreme.
The beans are huge.
Seeds were soaked for 6 hours in a H2O2/H2O solution I have been testing for months, before moving to paper towel. It works amazing.
Portions of solution- 6tsp to 2cups of Neutral pH water.
The Dad had a beautiful stem rub and was gorgeous, bushy and very drought resistant as I ignored it once I sexed it and it grew into a beast.
Mom grew like a monster in a 1 gallon. Bud structure and crumble were absolutely amazing.
BUT, Terp Profile was definitely WOODY and in my uneducated opinion showed Ruderalis flavor profile.
But she was a monster with no effort..
SO I am hoping that Dad changes the Flavor, I get the Bud Structure and vigor of Mom and Dads Leafy bushy structure.
Living soil style organics. 3 of the 5 will be in 3gallon Burner Pots with BuildaSoil Lite.
The other 2 will be in 5 gallon Plastic and Burner for experiment with Lightly Re amended BuildaSoil 3.0 mixed with older FFoF.
Nutrients used will be Basic;
Worm Castings
Mushroom compost
BuildaSoil Craft Blend
Cal/mag Light feedings once a month or?
Flower Fuel
Molasses
Now, I do have a small advantage that I get to feed once every other feeding with Water from a 9 year old Auquaponic System fed with Tilapia. Presently the ppm is @1250 average, feed the fish and everyone is happy.
😁 I have a youtube channel with all the blah blah if anyone is interested. I will also be starting another channel this spring based around Aquapods I have made.... and cannabis.
We will get into more of that in other Diaries.
I can be very long winded, I get excited.
Nice to meet all of you!
Sorry, was doing some more expansion and re-arranging day 12 and 13 so no pics.
We got some rain so all plants have been given a treat.
I believe of the 5, I already see (2) I do not like the traits of and will go with the 3 that are most obviously bushier and stronger looking.
Mom shot up fast and you can see the length and weaker, smaller looking leaf structure on the day 8 profile picture.
Dad was stocky and bushy... so we are on our way.
I have included a glimpse of the Aquaponic garden that the Indo plants get periodic feedings from. Once they are being fed... But for now just Neutral or rain water.
Now these should be Photo plants as the dad was Photo and therefore the Auto gene from mom is Recessive and the Dominant Photo gene should kick out the Auto correct?
If I understand that correctly I have to say I am amazed how these plants are coming up.
They are acting more like an Auto (as far as speed of development) in my very Limited Opinion.
It's very exciting.
The pots they will be going into have BuildASoil cover crop that is coming along amazing and it should be an easy transition once they are ready.
Thanks for looking and have fun growing all.
So these plants are just going nuts. They are bursting with Auto like Vigor! (Again IMO, and limited experience so far LMAO)
I was hoping that would happen given how the mother did.
You can see from the pics that these plants are not waiting for anyone, they went into the soil on day 17 from being Soaked!
I will start referring to them as #1 , #2 and #3. I feel that is the order of strength as well.
Once Sex has been established the plans are;
Either #2 or #3 will be getting topped.
#1 will be left alone for total shape and size observation.
Provided it is a female and has a nice stem rub then hopefully I will be able to back cross and move on.
They had a little treat of 50/50 Aquaponic water to plain treated water @ 6.5ph.
I DO NOT trust my Ec/ppm meter so I will try my best to give garden up dates so you can see the effect overall.
But that being said, when the meter is acting correctly... the Aquaponic water averages 1250ppm, 6.2ph and a TDS of 186.
That may seem extreme but in this Organic matter the plants just take what they need when they need it.
The garden is VERY adept at making plants flower and produce fruit.
Tap water is hovering around 600ppm and a TDS of......365-461! Yes, I know right.
Treated water, ATM is 1tbsp per 5g water/General Hydro ph Down to get to 6.5ph.
Those numbers will RARELY change as the Aquaponic Garden is very Stable, it has been running like this for over 9 years.
Thanks to everyone for their interest and the comments.
On to week number 4.
First off, these plants are no fuss at all!
The 3 have shown their cards in my opinion.
Early in the week #3 had a pleasant odor and #1 had an odor from a rub.
Now all three have a great stem rub odor.
Noticeable differences are:
#1 looks to be the perfect blend of mom and dad.
It should be taller than dad but still bushy and has a great smell.
I would say it is aggressive but elegant.
#2 has the height difference I was looking for, it has an odor different than mom, bushy and the structure over all is not bad.
BUT, if you look at the end of the week top down photo, you can see the longer more spindly leaves on the lower part of the plant. And the 3 finger leaf sets... that is mamma and what I believe is the Auto/Ruderalis poking it's head out.
It is not what I am looking for.
#3, hell... that's daddies little girl all day long. (hopefully a girl, no sex on them yet) 😂
Regardless of sex, this plant is short, fat, bushy and stinky.
Now the next week hopes are that maybe we get to sex them.
Once the plants are sexed then the rest of the plan will take shape.
They are just cruising right along, I hope the pictures and descriptions do them justice.
I have included some other photos to see the full environment.
Happy garden over all.
You can see that the plants shift a lot.
Even if they are not shifted for one reason or another, all but the veggie plants get turned 1/4 turn everyday.
I get to see and handle them lovingly every day.
Or several times a day but.... 😏
Non stop excitement.
I hope you all feel the same with your grows.
Thank you for taking a look at mine.
Cruise control...
Watered plain water 6.7ph on Wednesday and Sunday.... Literally no fuss.
The Stalks are fatter than a #2 pencil already.
No sex yet.
I need them to hurry on that because I think they are already getting close to needing a flip.
They should be some good sized plants.
Which the 3 gallon are obviously going to be to small for a plant this robust.
Maybe if I had flipped them already...
All 3 are showing desirable traits.
So I think we just send them all into flower and decide which one gets either Back crossed or maybe 1 of these will be a male!
If one is a male then I will shoot for an F2 pollination / Offspring.
But if not the back cross should be good as well.
Not much else to report on this diary, easy cheesy week.
Thank you all for looking.
So the week started out big, the plants had a major growth spurt.
I decided they needed to be flipped and soon.
Monday I started cleaning and re setting up the flower closet and Tuesday they moved into their new environment but still @ 18hr schedule.
They all grew 2" vertically the first night in the closet.
Wednesday/Sunday all three got 1/3 gallon 6.7 ph'd water all though #1 in the plastic pot really didn't "need" it.
I have come to a conclusion on the Burner pots.
If you want to be busier and water more, then just go with Coco and Hydro feedings.
For "living" soil they require more care.
They dry out to fast and are just not ideal, at least in this size.
I may use 3gl for very fast strains but going into the future I am going big and mobile, but that's for another time.
Anyways.... role the tape....
Wednesday Night I saw signs of sex and was instantly concerned.
Thursday.... I am seeing boy on #1 for sure and #2 Female.
Friday under 30x #3 confirmed Boy.... :(
So the only female is the one I did NOT want to breed LOL.
Go figure right.
So anyways the plan is to run the female, and the boys are gonners.
I could try to F2 breed but the strain is already unstable and I have way to many genetics to go through,
I decided Not to continue the line.
I did Pollinate a Zkittlez x Afghan #1 and I am more excited about that.
This girl should make a nice big cola so not a total loss.
Included are some Pics of Herbies Purple Haze Auto I harvested.
Small but nicely formed and tight buds.
Also maybe some Aquaponic garden Stuff.
Thanks for looking, I hope you are enjoying your grows.
Started week 7 from soak with a 36 hrs dark cycle. Started 11/13hrs on/off, 2/22/22... that was a coincidence
I was amazed when I opened up after 36hrs of dark that she was beautifully praying as though nothing happened.
Since she was not limp or looking needy I waited a day before watering.
First watering was a full strength watering of the Aquaponic water which had been hit heavily with rain. (1/2 gl)
The Aquaponic plants are out of control! :)
Friday just received straight rain water. (1/2 gl)
She grew 5" vertically this first week since flipping schedule.
Sunday starting week 8 since soak, I top dressed for the remainder of the flower cycle.
Top Dress for 3gl of soil consists of:
---------------------------------------
3 - rounded tbsp BuildaSoil Craft Blend
1 - tbsp Vegetable grade DE
1 - 16oz cup WiggleWorm Castings
2 - 16oz cups of Mushroom Compost
3 - 16oz cups of lightly re-amended potting soil
Watered in with 2/3 gl rain water, very minimal drainage.
First Defoliation of large fan leaves covering tops. I also pruned the lowest 3.5 branches for obvious reasons.
I have changed my mind and I will be back crossing her again.
She isn't what I was looking for initially but I think she is going to make something beautiful.
So I will make sure to have some genetics from her to mess with in the future.
Other than that she doesn't ask for much. :)
Included is some flower porn.
Thank you all for looking.
Sorry, I am missing a few days of photos. Was not feeling well.
But that's the beauty of growing in soil like this, the plants don't ask for much.
Watered Thursday, 2/3gl of rain water.... that is it.
She stretched 9" in 1 week.
I need to re mount the light as it is as high as it will go presently. 😋
As not to burn/light stress her the dimmer is at 60%.
No complaints.
Not much else to say, more or less in cruise control. 👍
A lil more Garden shorn included as usual... 😂
Check out the colors from the Purple Haze Auto in the Aquapod.
Thanks for looking.
Not a lot happening, just watching her stretch and stretch. 😅
Monday I trimmed the 2 lowest branches and then brought the others up with ties.
She gets watered on Sundays and Thursdays and doesn't ask for anything else.
This week she received what I call a Sweet Feed. 1/2 gallon per watering.
1/4 tsp of Flower Fuel
1Tbsp of Molasses
To 1 gallon of 7.0 plain water.
She is crazy, she grew almost 8 more inches vertically this week.
I may have to perform a major re-work of my lights.
I really want to keep the shelf in there but,
I may need to raise the lights again.
At the moment the light is at 60% as not to stress her out.
Luckily, the other light is supporting the side branches.
But she looks happy so no complaints.
Literally no complaints.
She is just under 4' tall in a 3 gallon burner pot.
Just love this shit.
Including weekly bud shorn.
I removed the rogue Tomato plant from the Aquaponic garden.
It was huge but you can't even tell with that San Marsano coming in.
The purple haze is Gorgeous and fattening quickly.
Thanks for looking.
Cruise control!
Watered plain water ph7.0 Tuesday and Friday.
Sweet feed Day 70 (Sunday), 1/2 gallon of:
Water ph7.0
2 tsp Molasses
1/8 tsp Flower Fuel
1/2 tsp Cal/Mag (She wasn't asking for it, I am just preventative dosing because the 3 gallon may take a hit later in flower.)
She finally stopped stretching, she probably could have gone to flower after 2 weeks of veg.
We will see in the distant future how her offspring behave.
This coming Wednesday, 3/23, I am going to Back Cross/Pollinate a few lower branch buds. Keep fingers crossed.
Not much else to report, she asks for nothing and I can't ask for more.
Included are some Aquaponic pics.
Cruise control.
Her drinking is slowing and she is not asking for anything.
Just plain Watering on Tuesday and Friday...
Literally that's it.
😁
Included is a little video right before lights on.
Oh and I harvested the Pineapple glue Auto ... 😎
Thank you all for looking.
Happy growing.
Note* In the Nutrients section, it has the craft Blend listed.
It's just to satisfy the Diaries 😟 face during update.
No nutrients were added this week.
Just cruising along.
Monday got a sweet feed of- 3 tsp Molasses and 1/4 tsp of Flower Fuel to a gallon of 7.0ph water.
Wednesday and Saturday plain 7.0ph water.
You can see now with the 3 gallon and a plant this size, sign of an N deficiency this early in flower.
Not a huge deal as I can use the Aquaponic water in conjunction with the flower fuel in small amounts to finish her off.
But clearly for this type of growing small pots just aren't ideal.
That being said all is well and she has her smell now.
Ironically it smells VERY much like my previous Zkittlez grow...
Realistically that's not surprising when you look into the lineage of the Gelato you see Afghani back in the roots of the line as well as the Zkittlez...
Included is a catfish I caught this week... lol.
Thanks for looking.
Happy Growing
Edit:
Please excuse the terrible pictures this week.
After looking at them I am very disappointed lol.
Received last Sweet Feed the beginning of week 7 of flower.
Plain water ph 7.0 with:
1 Tbsp Molasses
1/8 tspn Flower Fuel
A lot of nice tight small egg sized flowers.
The plant actually has some weight to it even being as sparse looking as it is.
I would guess we have maybe a week , maybe week and a half before she is ready , but the fade was insanely fast.
Trichomes are about 80% opaque with slight hints of orange here and there.
Other than that just plain ph'd watering on Thursday and Saturday.
Getting close, very close.
😎
Thank you all for looking and happy growing.
We are soooo close, I think another 5 days maybe...
Nothing but fresh neutral water, she is still drinking a little bit.
Smells of Semi Sweet Chocolate and Berries.
Just fattening up and finishing off.
Love the colors.
😎
Thank you all for looking and the comments.
Happy Growing.

Week 13. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!
Gelato Auto X Afgfhan #1 - Custom Breeder & Strain
I will have updates in the future... you know a smoke report.
I need to mention that, at week 4 of flower I attempted to back cross again on a couple of branches.
However I am NOT sure whether or not the pollen was still viable. I will report on that as well.
