This grow I made some beginner mistakes lol, but I wanted to share the experience. I thought it came out pretty good despite the challenges.
1. Forgot to set my lights to 18/6. Lights were on 12/12 the whole grow.
2. My Blueberry Cookies caught powdery mildew from a dying plant (Week 7) and surprisingly recovered. First time dealing with powdery mildew.
- Spray with RO & Kelp until about week 1 or 2 of flower.
- Feed tea once a week and RO when needed.
- Found powdery mildew due to a dying plant in the tent. It happened so fast, it was starting to fade purple.
- Defoliated molded leaves and wiped down the saved leaves with water.
- Cut down plant dying plant and cleaned tent.
- Added dehumidifier.
Did some research about powdery mildew and found an interview with Doc Harley Smith stating: “Calcium forms the glue that glues the cell walls together. Calcium strengths your cell walls & increases your chances of not getting powdery mildew. It prevents it from getting inside the cell and spreading.”
Then, it dawned on me that this was my first grow not using cal mag and my first time getting powdery mildew. Lesson learned.
- Decided to finish her out. Turned out pretty good despite the mold problem.
- Buds faded into a nice purple/blue color. Solid.
- Started 48 hours of darkness before cutting down.
