Seed set in water for 24 hours then set right into 2qt plastic pots with BAS 3.0 soil. Regular seeds so I'll most likely end up trying a few different sexing methods during early stages of the grow.
This will be my first indoor grow and also first time using regular seeds.
3 of 3 seeds popped on 2/22.
All 3 seeds popped same day. Middle popped in early am hours while the other 2 later at night on 2/22/22.
Light set at 20" but had the intensity half of what I needed it at so they stretched a bit. Corrected the light to 60% strength.
Day 19 since sprout. Starting to get some smell. Leaves look heavy indica dom already. Will be sending samples to get sexed shortly. The plants will be moved to the main grow room this week under a ROI-420E LED.
Day 26. Plants are getting bushy. Every day or two I start playing with the stems to try and open it up a bit and bend them over. Tests out to farmer freeman today so I should have the sex by next update.
Water every day or every other day. Still. Transplant and feed will be next week once I pick a female keeper (if I have a female).
Stems are a bit purple and it might be due to the untreated tap water I give them. I think I need to start bringing the ph down a little.
Temp and RH have been kept spot on. 75-80F with 65% rh.
They are definitely starting to have a smell. I definitely get a sweet soft smell from them.
No need to run the inline fan yet. Not until it gets too hot or I can smell it from upstairs.
I just put the black tray underneath because roots are coming through looking for water. I don't want them to go into the main medium too much yet.
Day 33: All 3 seeds i popped were female. Moved my favorite to the 30gal under the ROI-420E light in the 3x3 section. I gave 1 of the girls away and potted up the other to a 5L . Mykos Mycorrhizal used while transplanting on the roots. Fed with craft blend and some black frass then watered. The one i put in the 30gal seems to have stalled a bit. better color than before but the 5L one sprung up like crazy.
Some LST just to strengthen the stems a bit day after transplant. Light kept at 50% but just bumped to 75% at about 20". Inline fan is kept off during veg for now but i have 2 fans blowing around.
Edit: On 3/27/22 i determined what i thought was shock was actually underwatering. I dug down about a foot to feel the soil. The soil would clump together under some pressure but not as much as a well hydrated soil should when squeezed. I added 1.3Gal of tap water and today 3/28/22 the leaves perked up. texture and color are a bit off i'd say but i'll check back in another day or so.
Day 40 from sprout: The watering helped the 30gal out after 1 day.
3/30 and 4/1 i topped each plant and continue to tuck leaves. Some defoliation on the lower fan leaves that were touching the medium a bit. I will defoliate a little more this week. Scrog will come out in another week or so.
I am seeing some canoeing at the very top of each plant. Could be a pH thing or from heat but chances are its a pH thing. I'll keep an eye on it and lower the water pH i am giving it if it persists.
Gave the 2L pot some water (a little top and mostly bottom water) on 4/1. Medium was looking very dry on top but wasnt showing signs of needing water so i didnt give it much.
Day 47 from spout: Both plants look very healthy. Mostly did defoliation this past week and some watering of the smaller potted plant. I will do a compost tea hopefully this weekend for both ladies. A heavy defoliation is needed for the smaller potted plant but the canopy for that one is pretty even. Increased light intensity to 75% a few days ago. I will begin Scrog'ing the plan once it reaches 18 inches and lollipop at that time. I continue to bend the stems to strengthen them up. 30Gal will not need much other than a feed once in a while at this point. smaller plant i hope to keep as a mom since i like that one the best.
Day 54 from spout: Did a 4gal compost tea on 4/13 of worm castings, molasses, craft blend (bigger handful), build a flower (smaller amount), and frass for both plants. light/medium amount of defoliation every so often. I am trying not to take too much off at once to limit stress. After seeing how the plant did with topping, i think just bending (LST) branches will have similar results so i dont think i will top again. Scrog net will be on once it gets a little taller so i can really spread her out. Super bushy. Both plants. I feel bad for the one left in a small pot in the corner. I really like how it performed during veg so i might take clones of it a bit more than the main girl. A lot of bending an tucking almost daily. I think i will step up defoliation once the scrog goes on in a week or 2. I am trying to fight impatience but i cannot wait to see what the girls look like in flower.
temps stable at high 70s tp 81 or 82F. Humidity i am keeping at mid/high 60s. 30Gal pot doesnt need much watering after the first correction or the last feeding i just did. the smaller potted plant i water once dry (every other day or 2).
Day 61 from sprout: probably last week or 2 of veg for the 30gal lady. Top dressed today with a little craft blend, a decent amount of build a flower and a little bit of worm castings then watered it in. Net went up so I could keep the canopy even during stretch and fill the tent a bit more.
Small potted plant I feel so bad for. Stuck in the corner in a small pot. I want to get it outside but we don't have enough light in the day for it to stay veg. Ill have to come up with something soon. I still want to take clones from it since it handled stresses well.
My newest blunder was while doing some defoliation, I turned the light down to 25% then accidentally left it at that for almost 2 days. Caught it right as some deficiencies appeared.
I do small amounts of defoliation ever few days but I think next run I would do more less often.
Day 68: top dressed a few days ago with some castings and build a flower and did a good watering. Definitely have been underwatering as i can finally see the lady perk up and start praying. I was doing 1 heavy watering / week but i think that should change to a 5% watering every 3 days or so. Flipping to flower this coming week. Another compost tea will be done this weekend as well in preparation for the 3 week stretch.
Outdoors has reached 14 hrs of daylight so im thinking of replanting the small potted one outdoors (in the ground) after i take some cloans.
Fed may 1st with mostly flowering amendment based tea. Watered 1.3 gal on may 6th. Bending and deflating to uncover bud sites. Flipped to flower the other day with 13 hrs of dark.
Day 4 of flower. After a session of defoliation my hands were actually sticky. Watering 1.3gal every few days now then 1 heavy watering on the weekend with either a tea or a top dress. Top dress last done on May 13th.
Day 11 of flower: More tucking and defoliation each day. I did a major defoliation the other day, making sure the underside is clean and bud sights are not covered up by the growing canopy. Stretch is on for sure. Watering every other day 1.3gal religiously now. I should have started doing that a bit sooner. Compost tea being made now for tomorrow (5/22) use (3gal deep water/feed).
If i did not mention it before, i am doing 13 hours of dark rather than 12-12. I have no base to go off of but have heard it can cut flowering time a bit without sacrificing yield or quality. We shall see. I took cloans but those will be for a long outdoor grow.
Nutrient amounts listed was random. I just eye ball this shit.
Day 18 of flower: Picking up the pace with watering. I think 1-1.3gal / day might be starting (if not, already necessary). Compost tea done 5/22. Some major defoliation every few days to keep unblocking bud sites. Bit uneven canopy but its staying short with tight bud sites. Smell is starting to become more district. Cant put my finger on it, but i can clearly tell the difference between the two plants by smell.
(Day 29) week 4 flower: Watering every other day 1.3gal with some extra waterings on weekends. Build a flower top dressed on 6/5. minimal defoliation done from here on out. maybe pluck 1 at a time to expose top bud sites. Stretch is done. chunking up and putting on trichomes now. SUPER FROSTY.
Flower week 5 day 35: picking up the watering pace a little bit to make sure they dont go dry. Last top dress will probably be the last and i will ride out the rest with waterings and 1 or 2 more compost teas. The plant is so sticky, i cant touch anything without my fingers getting very stuck together. Smell has turned from simple floral to a bit more fruit (tropical i would say). Smell depth is starting to develop along with the trichs. Temp is still around 78-83 during day and 73-75 at night with Rh dropping to 60%. I might need a dehumidifier to get a little lower so the inline fan doesnt need to work as hard as often to keep that level down. Humidifier is no longer needed.
Week 6 of flower - day 45: Heavy-ish watering done 6/21/22 with some build a bloom after a 4 day vaca away from the ladies. WOW it is starting to really develop its smell. Heavy berry smell on the big lady for sure. Buds bulking up and will be continuing to just water every day or every other day. A little worried about humidity but in-line fan and house AC seems to keep the tent to reasonable levels during the day. Still only running 75% power. when i switch to 100% the tent gets a little too toasty. With no supplement AC, i think i will run 75% the entire way which i am not thrilled about but the buds are really starting to stack well.
Week 7 day 52: Ladies are not drinking as much it seems. Probably will continue to water 1.5gal every 3 days. Gave it some build a bloom today 6/29/22 as a final push. Just water from now on. They are just working on fattening up. Still throwing some white hairs but it is not much and trichomes are 20 % clear, 70% cloudy with the remaining 10% amber from what i can tell. I learned today, while using a microzoom hand held camera, that i am very shaky! I need to rig something up to hold the camera in place to get better pics.
Week 8 day 59: Almost there - Buds are super dense to the touch and have a more granular sticky to them rather than straight grease. Smell to the touch is different than smelling the bud which was cool. little more depth and berry on the nose if smelling the buds. looks like the fade has started with minimal white hairs appearing. Watering every 3 days but thinking it was a bit early to start the dry off period. Although its a stressor so may see more terp production because of it. Either way, i am happy.
Let dry out almost completely over 3 or so days. harvested today, day 66, before lights came on and hung in the dry tent with 1 6" fan blowing towards wall with 2 little USB fans continuing the clockwise circulation on the bottom of the tent. Tent is around 70F with 60Rh. checking back in 7 days to see the progress but aiming for a 10-14 day dry.
