So I will try to keep long stories short. Bare with me.
The Cali Connection Deadhead OG clones are from a mother plant that is sort of a miracle.
A childhood friend had bought several strains from The Cali Connection in 2011.
He never got around to popping any of them and they sat in there containers in a drawer for 10 years!
Here in AZ that is NOT the best way to store beans long term.
So there was not much hope.
I tried Germinating a couple of the strains, and they would crack but just had no energy.
After reading everything I could about soaking solutions and methods I ended up back at Ed Rosenthal's methods using H2O2.
And success. Beautiful BIG mother is alive and the second seed is ..... a Male! Yay.
So we shall see how long these take to root and go from there.
The Mephisto Northern Cheese Haze was a gift from a fellow grower I met recently.
I am very excited about this, as I have read and seen nothing but good things here on the Diaries about Mephisto Genetics.
Both will be run the same way as all my plants indoors with a minimalist living soil Organic mindset.
BuildASoil blends FTW.
The Mephisto is coming along just as expected, and I believe after 7 day it is wanting a little something extra.
I may just go straight into the pot so it can start getting some food.
H2O2(Hydrogen Peroxide) solution is the real deal.
Since switching to the solution for germination, I have had a 100% germination rate on all strains.
Mix is 6tsp H2O2 to 2 Cups of Neutral De-clorinated water.
Here we go!
Have a great day and Happy Growing to all.
Sorry a couple days late with this Update, I haven't been well.
Anyways not much to report on the Mephisto Northern Cheese Haze.
To me I am seeing Mega Runt, meaning it will be Fast, tiny and not produce. 😟
I will let it keep going because It wont use any nutes or occupy much space.
I really hope I am wrong but I have seen it enough times with batches of autos.
Time will tell but I think the writing is on the wall.
The Cali-Connection DeadHead OG is doing great and I learned that the clones wont need much.
They all showed Roots after 8 days from cut.
No complaints there.
They will be going into their pots this following weekend.
Not much else to report, just light plain 6.8phd watering every 3 days.
On a side note, I don't think the problem with Autos is the Breeders.
I get the feeling it is just the nature of Autos....
There is 2 ways to look at this in the long run IMO.
1 - If you order a 3 pack and only 1 of the beans produce then that one plant paid for the pack.
-OR-
2 - If you order a 3 pack and only 1 of the beans produce then you didn't get what you paid for!
If that percentage sticks through 5 or 10 packs then I would say Autos are not worth it.
It makes no sense to grow something that only has a 33% chance of return.
And that's with Feminized Genetics....
This is NOT a statement against anyone or any Geneticists,
I am purely talking about the randomness and un-reliablity of Auto Flowers in MY experience so far.
The best Autos I have had so far did NOT Auto!
They had to be flipped.
Look at the pictures in my other Diary ATM and you can see 2 - ZkittleZ Autos from the same batch.
Cracked at the same time but have come out completely different.
And you could tell the difference as soon as they emerged from their root cubes.
ANY Breeder out there that wants to prove me wrong,
I will Gladly do a Diary on their Genetics if they send me something. 😏😁
Anyways it's all about learning.
I have some more experiments coming up with Autos as well.
IMO I think people are doing more than needed but.. we will get to that hehe.
Have Fun and keep growing.
Not much to report.
The DeadHead OG Clones went into their Pots on Saturday night.
Normal 1/2tsp of Mykos shared on the roots and in the hole.
Watered in with rain water.
No Fuss.
Excited for the next week.
Mephisto Northern Cheese Haze did not gain any vertical height since last week. 😟
But I could tell after the first week she was going to be a runt.
She has a couple new sets of leaves but we are talking micro plant.
I imagine she will flip in the next 9 days or so and then finish really fast, unless she is faking me out.
This next week will confirm this IMO.
It's to bad, I was so excited.
I have another Mephisto bean (Pink Panama) I am going to pop tonight, I will just put it into this same pot.
This NCH is not even going to be noticed by the soil.
So we will see if we have better luck with the Pink Panama.
It isn't totally discouraging because there has to be some Auto Genetics out there that are consistent.
Right?
Looking for and sourcing Genetics is part of the game.
😁
Thanks to everyone that has taken a look.
Not much to mention, everything in cruise control.
The Mephisto NCH is just a side note at this point.
After a month I can say it will be a micro plant.
So from here the Height numbers in the Info section will be referring to the DeadHead OG clones.
They are just doing their thing. Just light waterings on tuesday and Friday, plain water ph7.0
I am going to put them into a 24 dark Cycle starting tomorrow after lights out.
And then they will go into the flower closet to be flipped.
Monday 3/7 I started soaking a Mephisto Pink Panama Auto.
I will include this auto into this diary as it will probably still be in the same time frame as the Photo plants.
And it will be reared the same as all the other plants.
Again it was soaked in the same H2O2 solution and successful at cracking in 12 hours.
Paper toweled for another 12 hrs and then into root cube.
Seedling emerged and has first set of leaves after 1 week from soak.
It already has a nice thick stem so we will see.
Not much else to report.
The beauty of living soil.
Included is a little Aquaponic Garden Video.
Enjoy and thanks for looking.
Cruise control.
Watered plain 7.0ph on Monday and Thursday.
Both the clones and the Mephisto NCH stretched nicely their first week and this will be interesting.
They are both with in days of each other.
The Northern Cheese Haze More than doubled it's size in 1 week of stretch.
It's a shame that it banzai'd because the stretch is going to be very aggressive.
She will make a nice cola, but will still be small.
But not much else going on, living soil for the win!
Thanks to all for looking and happy growing.
Not much to mention.
Everyone is in cruise control.
The 3 gallon burner pots got 1 extra, light watering as they dry out much faster than the Plastic container and the 5 Gallon Burner pot.
These will be the last 3 gallon burner pots I use.
Just plain 7.0ph water.
Almost boring!
Lol, but I will take cruise control any day.
Also Pictured is the Mephisto Pink Panama.
It is behaving similarly to the NCH, so I topped it, and then up potted it the next day...
That way if it has an insane stretch, like the NCH, it will have had some training.
The Northern cheese haze will end up much larger than I anticipated before stretch.
However it is still going to be a modest/small plant.
I am looking forward to seeing it's flower.
But nothing big happening, everyone is happy.
Thanks for looking and happy growing all.
Note* In the Nutrient section is shows a custom nutrient.
This is to satisfy the Diaries template with a frowny face if I don't put something there.
That should be rectified as I don't think these plants are suffering by NOT getting any extra and potentially excessive nutrient.
😏
Cruise control.
The clones and the Northern Cheese Haze should be finishing their stretch and let the stacking begin.
The shortest of the clones I have decided to pull out, I have enough to do.
I don't have time to treat that one special.
They had their first real sweet feed at the time of this update.
1/2 gallon Aquaponic water mixed with plain water to make a gallon;
1/4 tsp Flower fuel
1 tbsp Molasses
Watered plain water 7.0ph on Wed and Sat, Sweet feed Mon.
But that is about it, not much to report.
This coming weekend I will top dress to take them through the rest of flower and thats about it.
😊
Have fun and thanks for looking.
The Mephisto NCH is coming along nicer than expected but I don't think it needs much as most of the nutrient in the soil has only been utilized in the stretch.
It is now starting to stack.
We will see but I think sweet feeds will be enough to get through the rest of flower.
The clones got a little yellowing from an N deficiency.
It's my fault as looking at what week we are in, I was a full week late top dressing.
Not a big deal, got top dressed for the duration of flower.
1 tbs Buildasoil Craft blend per gallon of soil
2 cps worm castings
3 cps Mushroom Compost
Watered in with water 7.0ph
Right now they are being watered Mon, Wed and Fridays.
Fridays get a light Sweet feed.
Not much else to mention.
I think the next set of Deadhead OG will do much better given and extra week in veg with a topping,
and will be much more prolific.
However you can see they are getting sticky and frosty very fast. Pretty exciting.
Gotta love it.
Thank you all for looking, I appreciate the support.
Happy growing all.
Just in cruise control.
The Mephisto Northern Cheese Haze is just stacking and fattening. Very pretty flower.
The aroma is mild so far but pleasantly lemony mixed with some of the "Rudi" woods.
I ended up top dressing just for the over all health of the soil, the plant is doing great.
One 50/50 watering pond/fresh 7.0ph water.
And 2 regular plain waterings.
The Deadhead OG clones are stacking. Getting sticky.
The next set of clones will be topped before flower and will probably be great for a SoG grow.
The flowers are already very sticky and dense and leave a terrific perfume on the nose.
Almost a bubble gum smell.
I think they are going to make some great tasting flowers.
It's always exciting.
San Marsano Roma tomato plant in the Aquaponic garden is going nuts.
The tomatoes are sooo good.
Thanks for looking and all the nice comments.
*note;
In the nutrient section it has custom listed, that is just the pond water referenced in the the description.
The format gives you sad faces if you do not put something in the nutrient section... lol
