THE FINAL WEEK (prollly):
My my, the smell that would come out of this tent as this week began. Wow. It entered your nostrils hard, in a too-aggressive fashion.
Smelled like there was a good deal of the good stuff in there. Took my first lights-out videos and pictures on the final night of the prior week. You can see them in Week 14 of this diary. I like when I finally do this because that's when I can really get a sense for what she really looks like as compared to most weed porn you see online in general. 😄
I was, again, encouraged by what I saw.Some buds were overflowing with growth, but most were pretty much just good solid nugs - and we still had one more week to go.
The final feed would occur on the morning of Day 99 - 6.1 ph at an EC of 1000. From then on, she would get a half gallon of pure non-ph-adjusted water with 2.5ml of FloraKleen twice a day. Once runoff ECs were under 300, no more FloraKleen and just the water.
Red hairs definitely curling in now. She could have been cut down on Day 99, but as the advice goes - when you think you can cut her down, wait one more week. So that's what I planned to do. Was aiming to cut her down on Day 105 - the last day of Week 15. Additionally, since my next grow was fast approaching, and she needed to be under the flowering lamp by some date, I really couldn't go past this date, anyway.
I had a little bit of regret about this by the end of Day 102. I whipped out the old loupe again and saw varied results around the plant, but most of the heads were firmly cloudy. Some 5% were amber. Many were clear,
Got the impression that going to day 112 could be done and would make this plant an utter monster. But we'll never know. Oh well.
This plant set my record for largest bud. There was definitely some substance to many of these buds - even to some of those under the canopy. Many there were more than an inch in diameter. Some up top were close to three inch diameter buds. These were probably the best buds I'd grown yet, and it had me thinking that I may have ended my first grow a bit too soon, because those buds did not look like this. That plant was under duress, though, so I ended her misery early, I guess.. 😂
Also started doing a little pre-trim for harvest on Day 102. I removed single leaves that were more than two inches long, as a rule, around the plant. It really allowed me to see her naked. She was looking like a good yielder. Couldn't wait to weigh (not to trim). 😁
Day 105 arrived, and I gave her a look over.
Super chunky buds everywhere, up and down the plant. Even down low in the dark parts of the plant.
As for the trichome reading way of doing things, I was still not confident in it as a gauge, yet. It made sense as a strategy to me, don't get me wrong. The main problem was knowing where on the bud to look, and I was still not sure if sugar leaves should count and stuff like that. But anyway, it looked like the vast majority of trichomes were cloudy now. I saw amber trichs, but I wasn't sure those weren't on sugar leaves. (But I keep frosty sugar leaves, why not? So should I count them? (sigh) Never mind. I'll focus on the pistils... )
Only places where white pistils were visible were in the very very underlying parts of the plant where I was more surprised there was any bud growth at all, and even more surprised about how good the growth was. The red hairs were mostly curled in now. So I was happy with the results from that perspective.
Again, I thought she could have gone one more week, but I had pressure from my next grow, so harvesting on Day 105 would be the best idea.
Next time, we'll do slightly better?
Hope that was fun, interesting, or helpful for you.
Thanks for reading.
Have a great grow day!

Oh and by the way no other grower has ever left such an impression on me man. I love how you noted every single week and took such great pics to help me understand and on top of all that your notes as well as the nutrients and mL amounts was unbelievable helpful in teaching me to understand and feel.more comfortable in feeding! Much appreciated! Cheers
@LstNlsd, Oh really? Wow.
Well I'm glad, buddy!
I write my diary honestly with the intention of being helpful and encouraging to anyone reading, so I'm glad it's helping someone out there. I'm definitely coming to your page to see what's going on now! 😀👍
@EBxAH, Hey buddy!
I went to her page. I saw Zelda getting topped.
The plants look great!
I'm still very new to all this so I don't know how much advice I should be offering.
But with regards to defoliation, my main reason for doing it is to get light penetration somewhere usually. Then somewhere around day 65 or 70 I might do some lollipopping if I see lower leaves couldn't possibly get any light, in order to reduce humidity and improve airflow in the tent. But that's it.
Hope that helps?
@TinyTenter, hey man! So my wife started some gelato, wedding cake and Zkittles autos. I made a homemade scrog for the Zkittles. I suggested to her she should do defoliation with the wedding cake and let the gelato be. Would you check out Gekyumes Mom grow diary and give an honest opinion? Or any advice? You're killing it with auto my man so I been paying attention.
@EBxAH,
I mean, I only have three grows under my belt, so I'm hardly the expert. (And as for inspiration. I've been to your page, buddy. I'm pretty sure the inspiration works more the other direction.. 😉👍).
But I read somewhere someone say that early LST, like Day 11, was as good as topping, and maybe better because you preserve bud sites.
The grows I've done so far have been 60-90 cm plants. Small, so topping not a need. The one I just started is 80-100 cm.
Maybe I'll make the decision to top that one, but I'd prefer not to.
No, my plant-size-control method-of-choice that I've been using/testing is picking the right day to switch from my blue-spectrum growth-slowing veg lamp to my red-spectrum growth-exploding blooming lamp. The later in the stretch you make this switch, the smaller the plant should be in the end. Since she's an auto, the stretch ends on the day it ends. So by retarding her stretch with the blue lamp longer, you get a smaller plant when the stretch ends.
Oh. And that branch healed for me, so she wasn't topped. I think I even got an extra cola out of the spot where the break happened. Cannabis is so rewarding, even when you mess up!
😜
Have a great one!
@Sorsdetacachette, Oh! I just noticed the progression of your emojis there!
😄😍 Pretty cool! I like that. Yeah. If GrowDiaries was on the side of a cave wall instead of on the internet, that would be how I would explain my LST/grow strategy, yeah.
LOL! 😂
Man thanks for all the details on this I’m in week 2 now so still a long way off but a great read and a great outcome well done man I’m hoping I have a better yield than my first grow and I’m hoping it’s good for my anxiety aswell
@Civicgrows, Thanks buddy!
Look at it as a learning experience.
What matters is that you keep getting better at it by learning as much as you can.
The results are less important, I think.
You're obviously studying, so no matter what, you are doing a great job!
😊👍👌
I know you're done these but I keep coming back to compare mine lol I have a wedding cake from lgm going. Day 35 today. Ty for all the pointers in your comments :)
@GekyumesMom, I got the notification! Leave comments whereever, I'll get em. lol.
I just wrote to EBxAH and thanked him for how sweet both of you are. So thank you too.
Oh I need to come check out that Wedding Cake grow. I;ve been vaping Wedding Cake last couple months. Such a great strain. Strong, uplifitng and relaxing at the same time.
I'm running out of the stuff from my 2nd grow. parting is such sweet sorrow. 😢😂.
Have a great grow day!! And thanks again!
i copied everything I do from other people, so who am I to claim copyright on anything? I just hope whatever you steal works for you.
I change my mind a lot so stay tuned to my grows! lol
Take care.
@LstNlsd, Yeah. It's a 2x2x3. It's all that I could fit in here, really. And if you are gonna flower in something like that, LST/ScrOG becomes SUPER essential. I took cues from GrowWeedEasy.com's article about how to grow in a mini-tent, and it started from there.
Adopted/created some new techniques along the way.
But yeah. Nebula Haze is really the muse behind this grow. I'd love to give her thanks in person. She positively changed my life a bit.
But thanks so much for your kind words. Super appreciated.
You are very afraid of light burn.
Believe me, with modern LED it is almost impossible to burn the leafs with too much heat! All effects you see, are no light burn at all.
If you want to see real light burn effect, you have to hang the light 1-2 inches away from the next leaf. You can test this, if you dont believe me. Maybe on an older plant, because then it is not much damage.
You can hang your lights only 10 inches away, because then your plant can collect much more light.
Important, is the temperature of the leafs, not the air! The leaf should not have more than 28° Celsius.
