This is my 2nd try...
The seedling was soaked in warm water for 12 hours, and after less than one day between paper towels it got so far. I found a great germination spot was my Laptop power supply since it only got very slightly warm.
04/02: I reduced to light time on the 6th day down to 20h daily. Wont change it in this week, but the next one will display as 20H. Also I added a 14W LED Beamer I had laying around. It is rated at 6500K and actually draws 14 W from the socket
The strain seems to honor its name already ;)
Macro shots are so hard to focus... All shots are taken with my phone only

5 20170401 Opening up to show 1st leaves
6 20170402 2nd set lf leaves start to emerge
7 20170403 Side lights are installed for one day, nice growth
Starting week 2.
Reduced the light now to 20 hours for the early seedling stages.
She still gets only water.
Growing slowly... added shot 3 for this week
I am growing a bit impatient... Grow fast... How are you going to become a big girl?
I decided to add some more light to my box. My 12V Power supply is currently running only the fan. It is rated at 20 W, so i decided to add some side LEDs on top. The Fan is drawing about 2 W so i have 18 W left over. With 15W/M my LED strips allow me to add 4" or 1,2 M of them. They are warm white 5050 LED with around 2700K or so.
Ok, Snack time... I started to give them some nutes... Lets see if it makes a difference :)
The only issue is that i wanted to run my fan non stop and my light on a timer... I might have to finally build my arduino contraption into the box ;) - BUT There is a stupid loose connection somewhere on the board and it messes with my display. Annoying :(
Should i add some nutrients slowly? - Answer was yes the Master ;) - so added some
Upgraded my Mars with a more silent fan since i still had one around. Only drawback... Changed the airflow from push to pull... Monitoring if that impacts anything.

5 0408 added side lightning (~18 W worth of LED Strips), Daily plant shot added..., started to add nutients
6 0409 Swapped the fan for the Mars for a more silent arctic cooling one. I think the color looks better
7 0410 last shot for this week added...
Its the beginning of week 3...
I started to add nutes a few days ago and she likes it. The color is much better now and no hanging leaves anymore. Though, she is still not stretching at all...
Guess my abuse during week 2 delayed her a bit, but my space is limited anyway, so lets see what happens.
I added the reflective cover since some algae started to grow on the rockwool, and I hope to minimize it this way.
The new feed was mixed with demineralized water, since my tap water is shit, with over 550 mS
Uploaded 2 more pictures.
The "humidifier" was added at the beginning of the week...
Update:
Ok, The loose connection seemed to be caused by the cheap LCD display. I am now tossing the whole "Brain V1" and building now a "Brain V2"
The new Controller will:
- supply power to the internal fan
- removed the relais since I have a regular timer
- removed the real time clock since I am not doing any time based stuff and I only have 1 ;)
- Finally connected the DHT11 up
- removed the LCD and replaced by an 8 LED strip to show temp (Red) , humidity (blue) and fan status (yellow) - Easier to see also since the LCD was quite dim
- added a 2nd Mosfet so I can control the side light LEDs. This is controlled by a photo resistor which will turn on the 12 V bus if it is VERY bright (todo)

Day 1 of the week: 0411
Ok,
She is looking a lot better today.
I replaced the nutrient solution I had 2 days ago, and she has been enjoying it a lot it seems.
My office started to smell a lot better, but I need to do something against that soon I guess...
I am getting some serious wife agro and my carbon filter seller is a lazy sucker, since he has not shipped in 2 days yet ;)
Filter got shipped, but wont arrive this weekend :((
Ok... I let my PH run a bit wild since I wasn't checking it for 2 days. It managed to creep up to almost 8. So I lowered it again to 5.6 and also started to add a new batch of nutrients, bringing my water up to 1150 ppm
I replaced the Airstone against a bigger one and noticed the tubing was all slimy. This could explain the step raise in PH. So I decided to nuke the micro orgs a bit by adding a nice dose of h2o2 to my tank. I added about 25ml to 5 liter... I think I overdid it a bit though :(
Lets see how this develops
I am gone for almost a week... I hope she survives without me ;)
Updates for last week have been sparse since I was on a business trip and was unable to check on her.
But I got the carbon filter delivered and will install it tonight when I get home.
PH is a little high (6.9) and it took 6 days to get there. I will adjust it lower myself later tonight. Much better than the outbreak to 8 a week ago...
Ok...
PH Moved to 5.5 to compensate
Filter against smell is attached
Some new Pictures uploaded - Pleasantly surprised since the shots my daughter delivered were all of an odd angle... Didn't realize how much she grew....
Validated the air filter by dragging my wife down in the basement... Got her seal of approval :D
Started to train her to the side a bit to have the lower stems get some more light. I hope this is still in the "Low Stress" range... Bend and not break...
Last picture for this week... She is getting bigger and here is another shot of her... She took my abuse quite well and I like the looks so far. I added a tiny bit of H2O2 again to the reservoir (like 2 ml @ 12%) in the hope she likes it.
This is start of week 6 of my plant...
It got moved to the basement and I now actually have a filter that kills the smell.
I am growing her in a shallow tub which holds slightly over 1 Gallons of water with an air stone in it with 2600cc air / Min (Slightly over half a gallon)
Fur nutrients I am using a HESI Starter set of Amazon + a bit h2o2 to keep the res. sterile.
The plant took a LOT of abuse (See last weeks, chemical spill and bad water at the start) but its still coming strong.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Ok, after some feedback I did redo my nutrient solution.
I cleaned out my res. and replaced it with the above mix. I set to PH to 5.9-6 and the final mix now has 600 PPM Nutes (+190 water).
This time I used 50/50 destilled/tap water
Currently the mix is ready and I am flushing her with normal water.
Changed her water yesterday, and today the PH raised to 6.5. So I gave her about 3 ml of diluted PH-Down to bring her back to 5.7.
PH was on the raise again... 6.6 this morning. I knocked it down to 4.5 (Ooops) and then back to 5.6
Mixed up some CalMag (Blue bowl... https://www.autoflower.net/forums/threads/diy-calmag.57199/#post-1310772) thanks @HolyTHC
I replaced the valve on my Air supply against a better one... WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Airflow to the water is so much better now. If you are using a valve there, try blowing it. If you cant without any issues... Replace it NOW :D
0509: Decided to pluck 2 leaves from the plant in order to get light to all bud sites. Hops she is not getting mad about it ;)
1 more day in this week ... I like her looks so far
Last day of the week... Gave her some extra water again. And here is the compare shot between day 2 of this week and the last day. Also added a root shot of the plant
Week 7 starts
Keeping good care of the water and checking on it daily. The high PH value seems to be 6.5 now when I check.
Dropping it down to the 5.5 - 5-8 range then (Takes about 1-2 ml of dissolved PH-)
I think I have an issue with her roots and that she cant get sufficient water. But overall she is growing well. I see small discoloration on the tips on top only, so that might be light?
Adding some start of the week pictures now...
I was told the tips could be caused by nute burn. I checked growweedeasy and the pictures look most closely to mine. So I diluted my water by about a third and now I am waiting to see what happens.
I got a cheap ass macro lens for my mobile phone... So Check out those close up pictures. That's not a microscope, but only a 12.5X Macro lens for the phone (6$ for a set of 3 lenses at amazon)
Ok... Hydroton is the culprit. I was told it raises the PH level of my res. Any time I correct my PH I am adding about 100-150 PPM to it. Since I reduced the PH each day... This is a LOT. So after diluting the res down 1/3rd I am now getting signs of Potassium defficency. So therte must be to much of something else and not sufficient potassium.
So I am going to replace the res. again today with the manufacturers guidance. And that should help out I hope.
Ok...
The buts are slowly ripening up and getting fatter.
PH is still in the correct range. I diluted the solution a bit and added some P&K to it. I did this because I had the nute burn on top but in the bottom I saw some brown leaves that looked like potassium defficency on the bottom. So in total the nutriens stay the same, just a different mix..
So some new pictures are coming up soon.
Ok... The plant is getting quite sticky ;) I decided I cant wait much longer and I want to try a bit o weed... Since I don't buy it I haven't smoked for several month now... So 3 tiny popcorn buds that basically had all their light blocked were plucked from the underside for a force dry in the oven...
Here are some close ups ;)
Enjoy
Fixed growth typo...
Ok... This must be the smallest harvest posted here so far.,.. But I had to try :D
(edit: This comment applies only to the 1st picture where I plucked the 3 popcorn buds)
I have NOT smoked in over 6 month and this was insane ;)
I plucked 3 popcorns which would refuse to grow from below the plant.
They hit me REAL hard. Extremely good mood and I already made me a chocolate cream pudding, watched family guy and yellow submarine.
Still feeling very light headed.
So growing this stuff actually works... I am impressed... and still have an extremely good mood.
Ok, the final harvest is now in. I pulled 122g UNDRIED and with a lot of stems from the plant. I think in total I will loose 75% so that should come out to slightly over an ounce dried.
Final toll on the scales is 30g.
I also tested making some hash, and from my 100G of cuttings I managed to reclaim 0.5g without using any tools/Bags etc... Just plain gravity separation. I just wanted to try to make it ;)
I tossed my frozen trimmings into a container with ice water... Mixed them for 10 minutes. Did a "rough" filtering, then let it settle. Waited and dried the part on the floor.
Does it work? No clue, I have not yet tried it ;)000
Update 07/14 : The prizes from BioBizz got delivered... They even made sure to send me the Hydro Version of the try Pack... Thanks a lot Folks...!
07. Aug: The fastBuds prize Package arrived ;) -3- New strains and not one... Thanks a lot! :D0
Its a mars-Hydro-300 and its about 40 cm away
This is one of their older lights (~130 true W) with 60 X 5 W LED...
and I have a few W side lightning (~25 total)
I upgraded my bucket with a 14W LED beamer I found in the basement ;)Its perfect for Veg since it has a 6500K and when checked with my Power meter it actually consumed 14 W of light. So now my seedling(s) (I am a bad dad... I only grant the healthy girl direct access to the light... Lets see if she can take it or if I have to move her away a bit...) get an extra dose of light from the side in order to better Veg.
I love it how you just jumped in there and kept going. Small typo: In week 8 you have written the length in inches instead of cm, or your plant shrunk 20 cm's :D.
not enough oxygen in the water and water temp is probably too high you need calmag to also bring ph down 5.8 i like a little drift so i start res at 5.6 and let it go 6.0 the knock it back to 5.8
@thrashordie, the small harvest applied to the 3 popcorn buds only...
But the total harvest could have been a bit bigger, since I could have waited a week...(which I could not due travel). She had some nice roots going in the end ;)
Looks like it turned out pretty great 😀. Patience is always tough but I guess that's part of the learning process. Good luck on your next grow! I just started my second quick one as well.
Hello my old friend!
I have only one note to you.
After the second week of vegetation,
Hydro-Grow should be used. ?
Please do not be angry.
It must be a technical error.
Be alive and healthy!
