Instead of putting the eazyplug with the root sticking out the bottom straight into the substrate, this time I have put the eazyplug into another 2.5" eazyplug cube and let it live its first week there in the open. Some algae has formed but that doesn't bother me it will soon be covered. She's now covered up and I am hoping that the cube will cause the roots to now expand out through the substrate better instead of heading straight down.
Day 14 and I've decided to bend this one over rather than top. One of the lowest pair of branches is strong and the other weak, so I remove the weak one and bend the plant so that cut branch is facing down.
This looked like a good candidate for bending over rather than topping, as one of the lower two branch was weak so I cut that off and bent the plant over in that direction. She is well set now for a nice growth structure. Took a couple of the fan leaves off that looked a bit ratty and some that were covered, plus a few small side leaves, mainly just to give her some space.
Normal week 4 growth. Some minor defoliating, but some major work will be coming up. There seems to be some excessive branching and I'm not sure how I will deal with that yet. I'll get rid of a bunch of leaves and see what she looks like, that will be coming up next week. Until then take care.
It's hard to believe what this looked like after my continuous rounds of defoliation. This might be my last hydro as I'm going to try a large eazy pyramid next grow. So I did a bit of a defoliation experiment, I removed everything, even all the healthy large fan leaves that didn't need removing, This was necessary anyway to keep humidity under control, I'm just in a wardrobe. The result is that these have bulked up and are heavily covered in crystals.
I'm glad I did the undergrowth trimming a while back, it's about as crowed as I'd want her at the moment. I will see if I can keep her going for another two weeks.
Very heavy trichome production, my experiment in excessive defoliation see a few weeks back, has proven to me anyway that it works, there is no room for any more buds. I am going to try to go another week, but will assess on a day by day basis.
Not much more change, I took her down a couple of days short of 12 Weeks. Buds look very frosty defoliation and pruning worked well. Harvest report when she is dry, but looks like about 5 zips maybe 6 not big but looks to be nice quality.
