Kakui Starting a new grow with 12 Jamaican Dream seeds from Eva Seeds. Substrate 50% peat, 50% vermiculite with a pH of 4.0, so I had to add dolomite to raise the soil pH to 5.5. 1.- Germinating directly in substrate. 2.- Indoors to take advantage of the temperature generated by the LED, the days are a bit chilly and I need to keep the temperature above 20 degrees Celsius, I sprinkled some great white on the substrate and added more water. 3.- Still nothing, anxiety x1000 😰, I hope at least 9 out of the 12 germinate. 4.- Day 1, they finally germinated!!!!, 12 out of 12, the last one is peeking out, I already took off the plastic and gave them the first watering of 6.0pH water with voodoo juice, tarantula, and piranha, 1ml per liter of each. Happy!! 😁 5.- Day 2, they are already showing the first single-finger leaves, 2~4cm tall. Now to wait for the first true leaves to come out so I can start counting as the first week of vegetation.

Kakui Day 1 of Vegetation Veg1, when the first leaves over a finger/points start to grow, I consider they have stopped being seedlings and have begun vegetation. So, I gave them their first food with very light nutrients (micro, grow, and bloom) at an EC of 0.5, with a pH of 6.2, in addition to continuing to inoculate the soil and roots they are developing with Voodoo Juice, Tarantula, and Piranha, at 1/2 strength. Veg2, watering with 0.3 EC and pH 6.1, since the first watering they are growing faster. Veg3, watering with 0.6 EC and pH 6.0, first watering with enough water to get drainage, the drainage measured 1.2 EC and 6.5 pH, all good. Veg4, nothing today. Veg5, watering with 1.2 EC and pH 6.2, used Sensi CalMag in this watering @2ml/liter due to a bit of yellow in the new growth, B-52 as well. Veg6, they continue to grow well, it seems the yellowing in the leaves has been corrected. Veg7, watering with 0.7 EC and 6.0 pH, drainage of 1.1 EC (ok) and 6.6 pH (a bit high), next waterings will be with pH 5.8. I raised the light and lowered its intensity so the plants stretch a bit before transplanting, the roots of the smallest one were ok, the smallest one was sacrificed, now there are 11 left from the final 9 plants. Now to wait for them to develop enough (3-4 sets of true leaves) to transplant to the final 18-liter pot.

Kakui Veg8, they keep growing well, there are still 2 plants left to sacrifice, I'll decide during the next watering. Veg9, the 9 plants have been selected, the last 2 were sacrificed. Veg10, watering with 0.7 EC and pH 6.0, drainage of 1.0 EC and pH 6.6, the pH will need to be lowered in the next waterings, the plants have stretched a bit more, in about 2 days they will be transplanted into the final pots. LST is planned, but since the nodes are very close together, if they don't stretch much, I'll have to do Main Lining. Veg11, nothing significant. Veg12, watering with 0.8 EC and pH 5.5, drainage 1.0 EC and pH 6.5, plants ready for transplant in the next few days, starting to mix the substrate for the final pots. Veg13, transplant day, substrate with 50% peat and 50% vermiculite (silica), dolomite was added to raise the soil pH to 5.5~5.8 and also dolomite adds calcium and magnesium to the soil, agricultural gypsum was also added to the substrate which is slow-releasing and adds calcium and sulfur. At the time of transplanting, the roots are directly sprayed with voodoo juice, tarantula, and piranha, plus great white is sprinkled, once placed in the new substrate, watered with 1.2 EC and 5.5 pH, of micro, grow, and bloom, plus b-52, etc. Veg14, nothing significant, they keep growing well, in about 2 more days I'll do Main Lining.

Kakui Veg15, they've grown about 2 centimeters since the transplant, they still don't need watering, from now on I'll water every 3~4 days when the substrate is 80~90% dry, they've stretched a bit since I raised the LED distance and lowered its intensity, tomorrow I'll do Main Lining. Veg16, today the plants were tortured with Main Lining, I cut above the second node and also trimmed the leaves one finger below the first node, the plants that had enough growth got LST too, when the lights go out I'll do a foliar spray with B-52, and tomorrow a new watering. Veg17, watering with 5.5 pH and EC 1.8~1.9, they were watered with 1.5 liters and there was no drainage, the next watering will have to be with more water to get drainage, the water was heated to 23 degrees and oxygenated before watering, tomorrow I'll adjust the LST since they're still growing very well. Veg18, today only the LST was adjusted, they're still growing well. Veg19, LST adjustment, nothing else to note. Veg20, they're still growing, maybe I need to adjust the DLI light amount. Veg21, I had to put a heater to raise the temperature in the indoor and lower the LED intensity to 50% to achieve an optimal DLI. Today I'll adjust the LST and check the substrate humidity.

Kakui Veg22, watering with 3.0 EC and pH 5.9, average drainage of pH 5.8 and 2.6 EC (very good), first watering with Sensizym to clean the roots a bit, and this will be the last vegetative watering with Voodoo Juice, Tarantula, and Piranha. A small defoliation of the lower fan leaves was done, and the LST was adjusted again; they are starting to take their final shape. Veg23, growing well. Veg24, leaf temperature is measured at 22°C and compared with the indoor temperature of 23°C, with a humidity of 50% RH, the calculator shows a VPD value of 1.24 kpa, which is within the optimal range. Veg25, today I’ll do a small defoliation and I’ll also try to do a last apical on 2 or 3 plants as a test. In the end, I took a big risk and did several extra apicals and a larger defoliation than I had in mind; I have faith it will turn out well 😎👌 Veg27, watering with 0.8 EC and pH 6.0, drainage of pH 6.0 and EC 2.0, they are feeding and growing well, there are almost 2 weeks left to switch the photoperiod to 12/12, I hope they grow enough by then. Veg28, a couple of leaves from 2 plants show caterpillar-type bites; I checked and found nothing, applied insecticide spray, and hope it doesn’t keep happening. Other than that, they continue to grow well; there are a little over 10 days left until the switch to 12/12.

Kakui Veg30, the plants are growing well, they need a little defoliation and LST adjustment, maybe tomorrow. Veg31, this will be the last defoliation and training for a while, you could say they already have the desired shape, now we just need to let them grow. Veg34, it was watered with pH 6.0 and EC 2.0, the drainage had the same values, so the next watering will be with a much lower EC. The plants continue to grow well, a couple of leaves were removed, now they will have 1~2 more weeks to stretch before switching to 12/12.

Kakui Veg36, they are growing quite well, just waiting a few days for the next watering. Veg38, it's time to check the ties and see if there are any fan leaves covering any branches, the next watering was in 1 or 2 days. Veg40, watered with EC 2.5 and pH 6.0, cut a couple of leaves, need to keep doing LST to achieve an even height. Veg41, some leaves are showing tip burn from excess nutrients, the next waterings will have to be gentler.

Kakui Veg44, big defoliation, and tie adjustments. I always say it will be the last defoliation and end up defoliating more, now let's let them grow a bit more before the 12/12 switch. Veg46, the plants are already recovered and growing at a good pace. Veg48, watering with just Sensizym and Sensi CalMag, with pH 6.3 and EC 0.8, drainage EC 1.9 and pH 6.1 (ok). Due to the growth, I need to adjust the ties and remove a leaf here and there.

Kakui Veg54, watering with 6.2 pH and EC 1.5, drainage of 2.0 EC and pH 6.3, all good. The plants have already reached between 25~30cm, in 2 more days they will start pre-flowering. Veg56, they are almost 30 centimeters tall, last day of vegetation, tomorrow they will enter pre-flowering, they need some defoliation.

Kakui Veg59, third day of pre-flowering. Today it was watered for the first time with Bud Ignitor to stimulate flowering, the watering was at 6.2 pH and EC 2.0, drainage at 6.2 pH and EC between 2.1~2.5. It is expected to take about 3 weeks until signs of flowering appear, hopefully it happens much sooner.

Kakui Flower4, day 4 since flowering started, watered with 1.8 EC and pH 6.2, with the nutrients listed in the description, I'm not too convinced but I think they're getting better. Flower9, defoliation and watering, this time Bud Candy was added to the watering, which will continue to be used throughout the flowering phase. Flower13, watering 2.0 EC and pH 6.2, Voodoo Juice, Tarantula, and Piranha were added to the watering water.

Kakui Flower18, watering with 6.2 pH and EC 2.2, small defoliation. Flower22, watering with 6.5 pH and 3.0 EC. Today the plants surprised me, their flowers are growing a lot, they look very full. I'm worried that due to the very tight space, they might develop mold, I'll have to place supports to separate the branches a bit and improve ventilation by adding 1 or 2 extra fans, maybe also increase the power of the extractor. Other than that, they're doing super well 😁

Kakui I was away from updating the diary for a while because I caught COVID, now feeling a bit better I'm back to update. Flower58, the plants are ready for harvest, in one or 2 days I will start cutting and hanging them to dry. Drying, drying with humidity parameters of 60% at 16°c for about 2 weeks, they are 2 to 4 days away from being ready to jar and see how much final yield was achieved.

Kakui Harvest: -632 grams dry, much more than I expected. -good flavor, strong smell, very cerebral effect. -I fell behind in several processes, which extended the grow by at least 2 weeks; without making the same mistakes, I think I can achieve more quantity and faster. -Advanced Nutrients has always given me good results, although the products are expensive; in the second grow, I'm trying another cheaper fertilizer and so far with excellent results. -I will continue using the same substrate (peat + vermiculite in a 50/50 ratio). -In the second grow (Jamaican Dream 2), it's possible that the harvest will be bigger and faster, as I'm learning from the mistakes made and refining the method. Thank you very much for the comments, cheers.

@Valleywestbuds, hey, I would make the following changes: 1.- germinate directly in the final pot. 2.- for Main Lining, only leave 8 arms, 10 was excessive. About filling your 39x39 space, I would use 4 plants. I currently have 9 plants in 47x47, but I’ve used 6 plants before and the space was more comfortable. With 9 plants, it feels a bit small since they block each other. The method is excellent if you don't mind the time it takes, as your yield will be 40% more than usual. If you want to do it in less time, you can achieve a similar structure just with LST. Keep in mind that for Main Lining, you also need to do lollipopping and defoliation. Cheers

Valleywestbuds commented4y ago
@Kakui, thanks for the tips. I would rather do 4 plants however I have two autos growing outdoors and technically I'm only allowed 4 so for thia run I'm stuck with two. I'm thinking I will use 7 gallon pots maybe even 10 to achieve the size I'm looking for to cover the whole area.
Kakui
Kakui commented4y ago
@Valleywestbuds, 7 gallons seems enough, the rest would just be the vegetative time you give the plants. Keep in mind that once you change the light cycle to 12/12, the plants can double or even triple in height, so change the light cycle once they reach half of the desired final height.

Hi mate love your setup very good looking. I see you feeding advanced nutrients product line the same I do at my diary in the moment. You feeding "irrigation with 3.0 EC " that is about 6000 ppm? Looks way high to me, greeting 😀
Kakui
Kakui commented4y ago
@WeedDude, many thanks 😁, about the feeding, i'm doing 2 things, One is follow Advanced Nutrients recomendations for each week, and the second One is try to always get runoff to see if My plants are eating enough, if the EC of the runoff is lower than the EC of the feeding, is ok, if the runoff EC is higher the next feeding Will be with a lower EC, that way You can give the most feeding to your plants without lockouts or burning them. I adjust each feeding based of that, the next feeding Will be with a much low EC, Cheers ☺️
