First Grow - Critical

Setting up the grow room, got my seeds all set for germination. I am germinating 5 seeds and my hope is to get 3 full plants by the end of this grow. It should be clear to anyone that watches this progress that I am learning as I go. My goal at the end of this is to have 3oz of dried bud between the 3 full plants. We will see what plants survive my general lack of knowledge. Day 1 - Placed to Germinate in a Jiffy Pellet. Day 7 - She has finally come above ground. Must have been within the last hour as I checked when the lights went out in the tent. We will see how she does tomorrow.

Day 8 - She opened up overnight and is starting to take shape. She is about 2" out of the pot already. Humidity remained stable around 50, the head is still getting a bit warm when the lights are on. Day 9 - She has progressed just as the others have. She has sprouted up a few cm overnight. Day 10 - Took a new angle of her to try to get it in focus. I can't wait until my girls are bigger so I can take better pictures. She has a sharp set of leaves and the third set is coming in already. Day 11 - I love how sharp her leaves look. She got a bit taller overnight and her leaves have gotten longer, but not much fatter. Decided to feed my ladies today, they each got their first drink of nutrients along with 500ml of water. Day 12 - She is my 2nd tallest lady now. She has very pointy leaves that look almost sharp to the touch. I've decided to name this girl Melanie after someone special to myself. Day 13 - Melanie had some good growth last night. No rust spots and she looks healthy. I used the same soil and water on her as I did on my Pineapple Kush so I am really starting to wonder what it could be. Day 14 - Melanie got taller last night and her skinny leaves got a bit longer. There is now a noticeable gap between the 2 sets of fan leaves that are coming in.

Day 15 - Melanie has now become my tallest plant. She sprung up overnight and is over 3 1/2 inches tall now. I have her some water today with calcium in it as I want to avoid any rust spots on her. Day 16 - No growth overnight and her leaves are droopy. I hope I didn't over-water her. Day 17 - No growth, lots of discoloration with her. Very discouraged. Day 18 - Got some new growth last night. That made me happy. She was super droopy this morning, once I misted her leaves she perked up quite a bit. Going to let the soil dry quite a bit before making any major changes at this point. Day 19 - Melanie perked up quite a bit over the past 24 hours. Some new shoots developing underneath. A bit of vertical growth, but not much to report. Day 20 - Likely the most dramatic change from yesterday. She got a bit of water last night (about 1l) and she is looking much happier this morning. Some new growth up top and on the side. Only positive thoughts for now. Day21 - Melanie is looking a bit deformed. Not really sure what to expect from her. She is growing though.

Day 22 - Growth underneath and up top. She is lopsided a bit, but really turned a corner. I'm not so worried about her now. Day 23 - More growth, that is good. I'm really not sure what to expect from her when she matures. I will likely top her last because I think she fell about a week behind. Day 24 - Some water for her today. Her canopy really opened up overnight. I topped her today. Day 25 - Not much to report. She is getting bigger, but not at a great pace. Just small growth all around. I hope her growth rate speeds up soon. I did not do any LST on her yet as she is too fragile. Day 26 - She seems less fragile today. Though I will still wait to do LST on her. Very decent growth up top again. I am thrilled to see that she is coming around. I do think that my mistake has added an extra week in veg. Still a ways to go before I flip them. Day 27 - In a rush today, won't be much of an update. Just a picture

Day 30 - What a difference a week makes. Hard to believe this is the same plant from a week ago. She is looking happy now. Started to do some lst on her. Day 31 - She has recovered real well from the over feeding I gave her early in life. Gave some more water today. She has a thin leaf structure compared to the others. Day 32 - She has fully filled out underneath. I was able to pull her apart a bit today and do some more LST. Happy with how she is looking. Day 33 - I made some alterations to her canopy and tried to move her branches around to open her up a bit. I will see how she does overnight, but I still have a lot of training left to do on this girl. Day 34 - Good solid growth, she is a ball of stem and leaves at this point. Very happy with the change overnight. Day 35 - Topped her again today. I hope that helps with growth over the next week. Did some more LST to her, as I am trying to get her to fill out the pot. She is starting to fill out underneath now, so that should help with lst over the next few days as I get ready for flip.

Day 36 - The topping went well for her, there is already new growth sprouting up on her 2nd top. She is spreading out nicely and even though she is my shortest plant, she had the biggest change in the last week. She is shaped like a perfect ball almost of leaves reaching up. Day 38 - I feel like I should defoliate her a bit, but I am not sure where to start. All the fan leaves appear to be similar in size with only a few exception. The exceptions all have growth where the branches intersect so I don't want to snip them until it becomes more pronounced. Day 39 - Growing, growing, growing.... Day 40/41/42 - Had a couple blurry photos in there. Shame to because I was hoping to have some continuity. She is doing well, and has become a ball. The LST I did seems to have worked as each main branch has direct sunlight.

Day 43 - Shame the photo is a bit blurry. Flipped the girls to 12/12 and gave them some water today. She has quickly become my favourite plant. Just the way she is growing into a perfect ball. Day 44 - I think her color looks better today. Some growth all around and she is becoming bushy similar to the Pineapple Kush plant. Very interesting progress with her every day. Day 45/46 - I gave her a haircut today. Trimming away some of the larger leaves so that light can penetrate deeper into the plant. No sign of stretching yet with this gal. Day 47 - I did some LST today to try to spread her out a bit. Trying to give each branch direct access to sunlight. It will take a bit more work to get her how I want her. Day 48 - I gave her quite a haircut today. I also did some more LST as I want her to spread out a bit more. She is one of my smaller plants, but it appears that she has started to stretch and flowers have started.

Day 50 - I moved a few branches around and gave her yet another haircut. Day 51 - Today she got some water and a small trim. Trying to stay on top of the large fan leaves. She has really started to stretch and has flower spots. Day 52 - Hard to believe I took some fan leaves off her yesterday. It seems to have had the desired effect as she is opening up now. Day 53 - Some LST today and spent some time admiring her flowers that are starting. Should become obvious in the pictures in the next few days as her flowers become big enough to be visible from a distance. Day 54 - She is stretching and coming into shape. Though she is not as tall as the other plants, her node spacing is really good for her size. Day 55 - Her bud sites are obvious now, and some secondary bud sites are starting to look like tiny little nugs. Day 56 - Her stretch has been perfect so far. She has opened herself up to light and really taken shape. She got some water today.

Day 57 - Took a photo today and reconnected one of my ties that had come off the paperclip. Bud sites all over this plant are starting to show. I'm not sure she will be a huge yielding plant, but I am optimistic that I will get a good harvest from her. Day 58 - She added about an inch in height last night. She is spaced out well and looking great. Her thin leaves help the light penetrate the middle. Really excited to see what she does. Day 59 - Got some water today, that is about it. Tried a new lighting technique that failed miserably today. Day 60 - Buds are starting to grow in size, Secondary bud sites are showing good growth. Happy as a clam right now. Day 61 - Bud sites are getting bigger and she is still stretching a bit. She is looking really promising right now. Day 62 - Not much to report. Growing and looking good so far. Day 63 - This plant is looking fantastic. She got some more koolbloom today.

Day 64 - Buds are starting to add some weight to them. She seems to have stopped stretching and is now working solely on flower production. I'll be switching her to powdered KoolBloom likely by the end of the week. Day 65 - Her flowers are getting bigger. I haven't noticed any calyxs on her yet. Just pistols for now it seems. She looks very happy. Day 66 - She continues to impress. Just a photo today. Day 67 - Buds are starting to get thick, I did a bit of LST on her today to move things around and get better light penetration. Day 68 - Looking great so far. Got some water and KoolBloom liquid yesterday. Day 69 - Great bud development throughout the plant right now. Going to be nice to watch her add some weight the next 2 weeks. Day 70 - This girl is looking great, very excited to see what I get out of her.

Day 71 - Buds are getting thicker on this girl. She is putting on quite a bit of weight, I hope that trend continues. Day 72 - I have a feeling she will become my new favourite plant once I give the Amnesia the chop. Day 73 - Love looking at this girl, her buds are the biggest of the group. Very weak smell from her right now. Day 74 - Not much to report today. Just a picture and back into the tent. Day 75/76 - Didn't really check on the girls yesterday as I was busy. Today I fed them some water. Day 77 - She is my most impressive plant right now. Looking great and producing bud. Just the way it should be.

Day 78 - Likely to give her some more water tonight. Overall, she has the most bud of all my girls at this point. Her bud sites are starting to get sticky and you can get a small hint of a distinct smell from her. Day 79 - Stupid me broke a branch taking her out of the tent. Not much give on them these days. I taped it back up, and I will see if it dies or not. If it does die, i'll harvest that branch early. Day 80-83 - Sorry I've been busy this week. She got a flush today as some of her lower leaves have been yellowing quite a bit. Hopefully that helps, but it hasn't stopped her bud growth. Looking at her, I would say she has the most bud on her of the girls, though I might be wrong. Very happy with her progress this week, trichome development is going well and she is starting to develop terpines as her smell is changing. Day 84-85 - Had to put in a stake to help hold up one branch that was starting to break

Day 86 - She is much thicker than she was a week ago. Trichomes are almost all cloudy at this point s well. RQS says that this plant is a very fast plant from flower to harvest (7 weeks), and I think I am looking at a harvest sometime next week. Very exciting stuff. Day 87/88 - Trichomes are still just cloudy, no amber yet. I'm guessing she will be harvested very soon though. Day 89 - Things are moving in the right direction. Likely harvest looks like sometime next week. Maybe as early as Monday. Trichomes are cloudy, but no amber yet. Her leaves are turning into her fall colours. Exciting stuff. Day 90 - Off for thanksgiving weekend whenever my wife decides she is ready. I did some defoliation last night.

Day 92 - Just got back from being away for the weekend. The girls all look fantastic. I was able to spot a couple of amber trichomes on the Critical (maybe 1%), I'll be feeding her tomorrow. Day 93 - Lots more amber on her today. I have some time tonight so she will be getting the chop. I'll take some bud photos tonight before I put her down.

I cut her down today. The trichomes showed about 10% amber at the time. I could have let her stay for a couple more days, but I had time to trim tonight. My wife says it smells like someone killed a skunk in the house. I find it more of a sweet smell. Trimming this plant wasn't all that bad. I got a small little ball of scissor hash I can enjoy tonight before bed. The wet weight was 158g, Literally the exact same wet weight as the Amnesia I grew. This plant had denser buds. I am hoping that they don't lose as much weight during the drying period. Overall I was thrilled with how this grow turned out. Now I have to start counting down the hours until she is dry. I will update with my final weight in and hopefully a smoke report at that time. She is all dried up to 36 grams. I will smoke some tonight, and then put her away to cure.
