OnTheMoon Very quiet in the grow window. Not much going on here other than the plant doubling in size. Does not look like I have over watered, yet! Yes I am trying to suppress the very bad habit of over watering. Using only a spray bottle is working for me thus far.

OnTheMoon Since the plant has produced 5 pairs of leaves, I decided now would be a good time to pinch off the top growth. Little plant responded well by growing little leaves where the branches exit the stem. I have taken away the small LED grow light and now using my 600 watt LED light. It looks like I can begin adding a wee bit of nutrients when I water.

OnTheMoon Moved the plant on to a larger plant earlier this week and it needed more room. I used a commercial soil that has some nutrients added, so I am postponing adding nutrients to the water for another week or two. It is getting stretched out so I have allowed it to get closer to the LED lamp.

OnTheMoon Still a bit to cold at night to put the plant outside. I did put it on the deck for 2 hours Friday in order to get it toughened up to real sunshine. It has been raining for the past 3 days. I expect it is pot bound again, so I intend to add nutrients this week.

OnTheMoon On three sunny days this week I put the plant out on the deck so that it could get direct sunlight. I have had the experience of starting garden vegetables indoors and then having them get sun burnt when put directly outdoors without toughening the plants first. A little more topping was done to help the plant produce more branches. I added some nutrients to 1/2 of the water provided this week. Today the plant was transplanted to its outdoor location.

OnTheMoon The plant was put outdoors last week. It has rained 4 out of the last 7 days. The soil has had commercial compost, woodstove ash, and horse manure mixed thoroughly with normal soil over the past 3 years. Sprinkled a little garden granular fertilizer into the soil below the plants roots. Glad I did, as I have not been able to water with nutrients added due to all the rain. Plant looks good, with its buds getting more developed. Using extra strong tomato cages again to help support the plants again this year. Old windows leaning on the tomato cages will protect the little plant from wind for a few days

OnTheMoon The plant has been outside for 2 weeks. It will be supported with extra strong tomato cages. I tied some of the main branches over to the wire to allow more light to reach lower bud sites. Windows were used to protect from the prevailing winds. In spite of it raining 4 days this week I have been able to give the plant 3 liters of water with nutrients. On the sunny days it has been very warm, reaching 30 C.

OnTheMoon Plant growing well and looks healthy. I tied down a couple more of the lower branches to allow more light to reach into the plant. Rained several times this week and the nights were colder. TV Weather Man warned of frost in the north of New Brunswick, it is July, not supposed to be that cold at night. I did some watering to make sure the plants was getting some nutrients. All the rain must be washing some of the necessary nutrients out of reach of the plant.

OnTheMoon Doubled the volume of water this week as this plant is three times the size of any of the others. Increased nutrients would also result. I have tied down several of the lower branches and new bud sights have begun along the branches.

OnTheMoon Growing well, I have removed some of the bud and leaf sights that are close to the main stem to allow light to get into plant centre. I believe it is called Lolly-popping. I tied down some more of the branches. This week I have also begun covering the plant in the evening and removing in the morning to start flowering. Yes, it will be very work intensive, but I want the 8 weeks of flowering to be finished before the real cold of fall arrives. Until this week all the water I have given have contained nutrient. This coming week is to be very hot and dry I expect to have to offer straight water a time or two.

OnTheMoon As the plant grows larger and I keep tying the branches down to expose the lower bud sights to more sunlight. I have been covering the plant in the evening with a tarp, then in the morning I take it off. I may need a bigger tarp, as I continue to pull the branches out to the sides and tie them down.

OnTheMoon It was a hot dry week. Even though I have completed two weeks of covering the plant to lengthen the dark period, there is no sign of beginning flowering. I had the thought that, the blue tarp may not be cutting out enough light, so I added a second tarp. Meanwhile the plant is growing quickly. I removed a few more inner leaves and tied down more branches.

OnTheMoon It rained all week. I mean it rained every day. Yes, some days more than others. With the amount of water the plant has received, I decided not to give more water soluble nutrients. Plant has not started flowering yet even though I have now been covering it for over 12 hours a day for the past two weeks. Usually this trick works much faster for me. It is growing and adding more bud sights.

OnTheMoon To much rain again this week, resulted in only 1 day I could give water soluble nutrients. Plant has finally started flowering. The covering the plant at dusk and removing cover at 8:30 in morning has begun to work. This should make the 8 weeks of flowering required possible before the really cold weather arrives. Plant did stretch out a bit as its complaint about lack of sunlight. I have picked of some of the lower inside leaves and bud sights that will not produce a large bud.

OnTheMoon Dry week, so I was able to water with nutrients 4 times, 2 liters each time. Spent some time picking off some of the leaves that were preventing light from penetrating into the center of the plant. Fall has arrived, Yuck. I hate anything that reminds me that winter is coming.

OnTheMoon The hurricane did break a few branches and some areas have mold starting. I had to pick off some damage buds. Disappointed in the weather this season as I had to struggle more with mold than ever before. This is last plant I have to harvest this year. I am planning on trying to grow a plant indoors this winter as I now own a stronger LED light. The good new is that I have buds left over from last year, so I have plenty of stock to see me through to next year. I picked off damaged buds and most of any fan leaves left this week. There is not much left to trim other than the sugar leaves. I am keen to start the harvest of this plant soon. Then I will keep myself busy by preparing the soil for next year. The last few days have been sunny, which is appreciated by everyone who has lost trees and have had damage to their homes. I was one of the lucky one that only had minor damage from the storm. Nights this week had the risk of frost so I am back to covering the plant at night and uncovering in the morning when it warms up. Yes, this has be a difficult year for growing. The sunshine has allowed me to give some water soluble nutrients.

OnTheMoon I covered the plant at night to get a 12 hour night cycle starting in early August. The natural 12 hour daylight hours does not start here till September 15. Late October is way to cold around here to be finishing plants. I seemed to use a tarp that allowed to much light to penetrate onto the plant. The plant began to stretch between bud sights when it began flowering. I will use a better tarp right from the beginning next year.
