After my recent test go with the Eazy Pyramid Mini, I'm now very interested to see how these three different beans go. I have not grown the Jack 47 or Gorilla Cookies before but the Amnesia is one I've seen and is fairly slender so I am curious as to how she will grow in this restricted root system. Water only for the first two weeks in these pots. Amnesia is 7 days old and the other two are a few days behind.
Everything proceeding with no drama. The Eazyplug Pyramids are a beginners dream. The Seedsman Amnesia is growing as well as it does in a full hydro, it is taking on it's typical slender stretchy form, interesting to see how it proceeds Gorilla Cookies is 3 days behind and Jack 47 is a further two days behind. While the Gorilla Cookies has squat chunky leaves, the Jack 47 is exceedingly slender and feeble looking. She almost fell over, but I did not add any support and today she is getting herself back upright, she's only nine days old so a couple more days for her to begin to thicken up.
As usual no nutrients added until week two when I add some weak vegging nutes but that has only been for the Amnesia so far.
Amnesia is 21 days, Gorilla Cookies at 16 and Jack 47 at 14 days. All plants growing perfectly in their one litre eazy plugs. Gorilla Cookies is dark green and curly while Amnesia is lighter with more papery leaves but all look great. Although the Gorilla Cookies is very tiny but very strong looking, may I will not top this one. Again it appears that Amnesia is turning to flower early, maybe that is a characteristic of these pots. We shall see. Each plant is growing as well as if it was in a full hydro set up at this stage.
Amnesia growing as well as in a 16L hydro, she has to slow down soon, very bendy and super easy to manipulate, lots of light gets through. I'm waiting for some LST clips to arrive.
Jack 47XL, is an absolutely magnificent looking specimen. Huge symmetrical leaves, open structure but not too much like amnesia, I topped at the fourth node and the lowest branches were growing fine but I cut them off anyway so I just have the top six shoots which I think is enough for a one litre plug.
Gorilla Cookies is a massive disappointment but only because there appears to be a genetic deformity with the bean, this is one more advantage of the this type of substrate, you know there's not root problems it can only be genetic. I have a new bean on the way and I am looking forward to seeing what the first week of growth is like compared to the deformed one which had odd looking leaves immediately. I hoped she might grow out of it, but it appears to be baked in which is why I conclude it's genetic.
Amnesia is 5 weeks today. Lots to say about this one, as expected she is big and bendy, so bendy in fact that I was able to try out my new LST clips on her and they work pretty well, able to ben the branches 90 degrees without snapping and the clips hold it all in place instead of trying to stand up again. I was even able to use them on the much more rigid Jack47. So this enabled me to have a scrog effect. The flowers are coming along fast. Can't wait to see how this ends up.
The Jack 47 is not too rigid but it's thick branches would normally just be left till they grow long enough to try and bend them out a bit without snapping them off at the stem. However I was even able to get some LST clips into this and form a lower canopy with the two topped branches coming out the top. I may also flatten them out later depending on what happens. Now that she is flipping I'm expecting some good growth next week, but I don't know, never grown this one before, my LST work made all the beautiful large lower fan leaves point downwards, I removed them all today.
Gorilla Cookies, what to say about this genetic monstrosity, she it beginning to stretch. The only reason I'm not throwing this out is that I want to be certain that it is a Gorilla Cookie, because I planted a replacement bean, and it looks completely normal. I thought the fat leaves on the Gorilla was good when I first saw it, until I realised it wasn't.
Amnesia, is the oldest at 6 weeks, droopy style leaves putting on some fluffy flowers tufts, hopefully will begin to fill out now. LST clips have worked nicely to create a monster canopy considering she is in a one litre pot, hand watered!
Jack 47, has responded very well to the LST clips making a completely symmetrical square canopy, there are lots of smaller branches and I don't know what to prune not having grown this before. Next time I will grow two and test out different pruning techniques. Still staying relatively small at 13 inches but there is some growth to come, I did have to do some careful defoliating too which seems kinda ridiculous in a one litre pot, but there you go!
Gorilla Cookies, the mutant, has suddenly shot up to 14" but she looks pretty crap, the replacement bean it couldn't be more different at two weeks old now and looking pretty powerful.
Amnesia is beginning to fatten up now, Gorilla Cookie suspected mutant, is making a valiant attempt at a result, meanwhile the replacement Gorilla Cookies is looking more like she should. And Jack 47 is looks is hard to make out yet if she is going to produce a good result, the potential is there for sure, could be very interesting if she fulfils her promising looking canopy.
All the three girls even the mutant Gorilla are beginning to fatten up, they all look so different from each other, if Jack 47 fattens up she could be spectacular, at the moment it's hard to tell, there's a lot of potential there for sure.
Lots of defoliation on Jack47XL especially which is now fattening up and putting on very dense trichomes. Amnesia is almost ready with a nice piney smell and all buds developing, the replacement Gorilla Cookies is becoming very bushy and lush meanwhile the one I originally planted while still looking weird, has managed to produce some very frosty bud nonetheless. Still hand feeding these twice a day at least.
OK, Amnesia is down, and the mutant Gorilla Cookies is down, may produce 10g of decent bud, maybe a bit more, and Jack 47 is becoming very handsome, with olive, cream and beige colours in the flowers. Possibly another week to go maybe more she smells like an absolute killer. The Replacement for the mutant Gorilla Cookies is coming along well. Maybe 5 weeks to go.
Jack47XL could be harvested at any time but I'm going to see if I can push this one because of the reduced danger of bud rot due to the dry weather and mini pyramid. The trichomes are the fattest and juiciest of any bean I've ever grown in any medium. The colours are unique showing olive and khakis and browns rather than the usual green and pink hues. The replacement Gorilla Cookies is about 4 weeks away from finishing and then I'll know if the mutant Gorilla Cookies was a mutant or a completely different bean.
Looks like it's time for the chop, I don't see any benefit of more time. She is incredibly frosty, it's dry and chilly at the moment so could take a couple of weeks to dry, but I'm really excited about this strain.
The replacement for the mutant gorilla cookies is at nine weeks now and has gone very purple due to cold weather, she is small but bulking out and frosting up nicely.
Gorilla Cookies is at about 10 weeks now. A surprisingly small plant but still looks like it will be a couple of zip. Buds are quite frosty and I'm getting lots of autumn colours. Maybe another week see how she goes.
Week 11 now for the Gorilla Cookies replacement, she has gone full on into her autumn colours which I don't see very often, trichome density is high. I could harvest now but I'm going to see if I can get more cloudy trichomes.
One bean was badly mutated still produced an ounce of decent bud. The normal gorilla cookies started off strong then turned out quite small but produced very pretty dense buds thickly covered in trichomes.
