Just popped one of these today to go with our other outdoor plant
First time growing a Pure CBD strain, but my wife and I are both regular CBD users so why not give it a go!
48 hours after putting in paper towel the tap root is length of the seed. Taken out and planted in Gaia Green Soil no additives
Can't wait to see how this thing looks
7 days after putting in the soil she has come through and dropped the helmet with about 2" of height so far. Just under a T5 bulb in a nanodome, will plant outdoors in 2-3 weeks
Slow and steady growth. First real set of leaves coming in nice and strong and just the start of second set on day 13. Still frosting at night and we are starting 4 days of rain, so hopefully have this in ground by first week of June after getting her hardened off once the weather cooperates. 25 gallon fabric pot waiting for her in the future.
Out of dome, getting 8 hours a day in the 4x4 under the Photontek X450Pro when times line up, otherwise on table under T5 light other 8 hours. Running 16 hour schedule and varying humidity/temps to get plant hardened. Near end of week noticed she was having trouble keeping herself upright, so I added enough soil to bury the small leaves that break open the seed. Watering every 5-7 days. Just soaking soil to runoff and leaving.
Another week gone by and she is coming along nicely. Was planning on planting at the end of this week but the temps are still dropping near 6* overnight so figure just keep it inside for another week or so. Took off lowest set of branches.
She's been getting lots of sun on the nice days and coming in at dark for a rest in the house. 16/8 lights to mimic day time and overnight temps of 18.5* most days have been 20-25*
Will transplant in next few days to a 2 gallon, I'm sure the solo cup is just packed with roots 🤤
Finally got nice weather here to stay so ransplanted on the second day of the week at 5" and by the end of the week she is already 14" tall! They grow up so fast. No shock from transplant as always used a healthy amount of Dynomyco and no worries. Time to let nature do the work!
Had a LOT of rain this week, 4/7 days full cloud cover and one big storm but she is still coming along strong! Sunny days were 25*C and temps around 18*C overnight. Really liking it's fabric pot. Maybe start some LST by the end of week, but kinda want to see how she grows before doing it in an indoor run over the upcoming winter.
Another week with 3 days of rain, two of the days were torrential downpours. Plant withstood the rain, but some of the less developed branches did get a bit bent, but not snapped so I'm sure they will recover. Shooting up in height despite all the rain, can't wait to see what will happen if we manage to get a full week of sun.
Another week with 3 days of rain and 4 days of sun. Sunny days were +30* celcius, rainy days around +20* celcius, and nights 10-20*C.
She grew 19" this week!!!! Holy crap I hadn't gone out for a few days because of rain and busy with life but wow was I surprised at the growth!
Did some LST on day 54, tied down all branches save for top 3 sets to help it bush out.
Doing great, huge fan leaves and just loving life.
Well she's looking nice and healthy and is officially the tallest (and youngest) girl in the garden! Never done this strain but getting a feeling she's gonna be a monster 💪.
The size of the leaves on this plant are 🤯 seriously dinner plates, 10x13.5"! Maybe it's the microriza I mixed in with transplanting at each stage. It does promote serious root growth and nutrient uptake. My indoor plants do love it, first time using on my outdoor.
Took to the LST very well, now nice and bushed out on the lower 2/3. Adjusted ties on day 61 and already by day 63 pointed up and lots of growth.
Grow baby grow 😍
Only 10 weeks from seed and oh my is she ever getting TALL! Up to 85" now, I'm really hoping this is the end of growth week or she's gonna be pretty top heavy! May actually have to strap down the pot if it gets big buds, have never done this strain so see what happens! Some LST early week. Will need to adjust again tomorrow or next day when not raining.
Only two day of rain past week, so more hand watering. Accidently did too many nutrients mid week and gave 5-10 leaves a bit of burn, but just water for a week and she should be ok 🤞👍. Maybe I'm crazy, but I swear I can see the start of the hairs up top, next week probably week one of flower? We shall see 🙂
So it's been a week of wild weather and misadventure but she is still looking pretty good for the most part. Was a nice sunny week, although pretty hot at 36°C most days but kept her watered and happy. Then on day 5 of the week we got a weather forecast of "pounding water". That's right, not pounding rain, pounding water!! 60mm in only a few hours, and 70kmh winds. She held up very well, checker her the next day and everything looked good, no damage and leaves pointing to sun. Then in the morning while going to water, my wife sees one of the main branches has torn 95% off!! I have a feeling that some of the night time wild life (raccoon, skunk, fox) that visits may have hit a LST line. Tied it back up and hoping for the best.
Have had branches break half off in past and fixed this way so here's to hoping. Took off LST and now using same ties to help support each branch.
Was going to defoliated today but took me 1.5 hours to support all the branches, and it's 38°C today so time to rest and do some defoliation tomorrow after work.
Busy busy this week!
Evening of Day 2 did a large defoliation, about 30-40% of the fan leaves and anything growing towards the plant or into itself. She didn't even skip a beat, perked right back up by the morning!
Day 5 spent a few hours and got her all supported and netted in place. Was going to try and do without the net this year, but she's already so big needs the help for sure. McGivered a good cage out of 2x2x12 that ended up fitting perfectly into the corners of the plastic skids. Screws through the skid into the 2x2. Gave some cross bracing 3' off the skid then added a horizontal net 18" down from the top and wrapped netting around save for the bottom 2 feet. No branches down there so no net, and leaves me room to get inside and trim as well as makes watering easier. Will add more horizontal netting as she stretches, typically I do a layer every 24", and always make sure there is one 18-24" from the top at end of growth
Think I've finally figured out the yellow leaves. Have changed the watering from 10L a morning all at once to 6 liters in the morning and then another 4 liters in the afternoon but only on the really hot days where they're drinking a lot. Nutrients Monday Wednesday Friday water inbetween and Sundays are dry out days. Leaves are looking great (no yellows this week), most 9points or more and good color.
Also the tear from last week seems to be healing up quite nicely. Will leave the wrap on at least a few more days but all the leaves on this branch look green and healthy still.
This has been a great strain to grow so far! At this rate will end up my tallest plant ever grown depending on stretch 😁
Good week for weather again, only one big storm and a second rain day. Otherwise 35°C and sunny, girls have been thirsty 10 liters a day split morning and afternoon.
Already glad I put the netting on, making it so much easier to keep the branches spread apart, and giving great support. Guiding branches every 2-3 days to keep her growing outwards. This strain seems the want to grow really tight!
Only bad part of the week was finding 2-3 leaves that I had to pull off, looked like mold starting. They were all pressed against wood or caught on the net. Could have been a cocoon but just to be safe removed them. No others around affected, was all different days of the week and none near each other. Just have to keep an eye on training and stay on top of the pruning.
Here's hoping for another good week!
So pretty sure it's looking like flower week one, so that's what we're calling this week! Had one hell of a heatwave in the first 4 days with daytime temps hitting 38°C (42 w/humidity) and night temps up at 24°C and boy was the thirsty! 6L morning 6L night and she held out well. Capped off the heatwave with 100mm of rain over a 2 day period followed by 2 days of sun and cloud, temps back down to 28°C day 15°C night. That's more rain than we typically get all of August! Last day of week just did a light pruning, removing all the fan leaves that were left inside the netting.
First time growing a CBD strain and it's been a different but fun plant to grow. Likes to grow tall and close to itself, not super filled in yet like my Blueberry strain.
Can't wait to see what buds look like and what kind of potency. Hoping for high CBD and low to no THC.
So another week has gone by, and honestly aside from watering and giving the usual 3 days of nutrients I didn't pay her much attention. Was pretty busy working on a few diseased trees we had to take down on the property, but I guess sometimes a hand off approach is good cause she's looking happy and no issues. She's filling in well, glad I got the netting really helped with shaping and now holding the plant in place well.
Did a good check on the ladder today, nothing caught on the netting and otherwise looking good. No yellow leaves since last pruning. If she gets any bigger I'm gonna need a 12' step ladder, I'm at the top of my 8' now!
Well it's been another hands off week and things are going well. Bud sites are all popping off and things are getting really hairy 🙂. Maybe an inch of vertical growth, I'd be happy if she stayed this height. Getting more filled in around the sides. Didn't get a lot of nutrients this last three days as it's been nothing but rain and heavy thunderstorms, but today was finally sunny so back on the nutes. Still giving all three, but will cut out the grow nutrient and just use the micro and bloom probably by end of this week. Not using any Big Bud or bud enhancers this year just keeping it simple. Also since first time with this strain don't want to risk too dense a canopy (fall rains and no cover).
Side note. There hasn't been many lady bugs this year, and by that I mean I've seen maybe 1 on the plant. Today, they're everywhere! I mean if I look out the yard I can actually see large clouds of them. Guess there won't be a bug problem this year 🤞. Although the birds are also now here en mass, probably eating the lady bugs 😅 oh nature.
Hope y'all have a good week and happy growing!
Good week this week, pretty uneventful due to the crazy amount of rain we had. Had 4 days of rain, 2 of which were so hard we had flowers snapping in our gardens. Thankfully this big girl is tough and the netting held her together without any problems. Sure do hope that September gas less rain than August has been that's for sure! She's starting to get yellow leaves, but it's all the order ones so I'm assuming she just doesn't want them any kre and pulling them off. Randomly found throughout the plant but always in a heavily shaded area, and they snap off easy with a light pull. Will probably clean them up a bit tomorrow once things dry up enough to get the ladder out. Was finally able to snap pictures today, rain just stopped a few hours ago.
Have a good week everyone and happy growing!
Well it was a good week but didn't get much nutrients into her as it rained 5 out of 7 days! Really glad I took off a lot of fan leaves (60&70%) early in the week because a LOT of growers in my area are dealing with WPM now thanks to all the rain and the huge temp swings making for foggy early mornings. Been 26-30 most days but dropping to 6-8 overnight, well below dewpoint, so even when not raining the plant is getting soaked. Luckily I've got her in a better place this year, if there's wind from any direction it hits the plant and as much sun a day as my property allows. Hits her around 830am and in the shade around 530pm.
Cut back the nutrients by half and she seems pretty happy.
Buds are forming now and stacking in really tight, exciting times! I always try and picture what the final plant will look like, and so far my expectations are always beaten. Forecast calling for sun next 5 days in a row, let's hope they're right and watch these buds SWELL this week!
Happy growing and hope everyone has a good week!
Holy crap I can't believe she survived the storm last night/today, thank you netting and good genetics! Rained 35mm in 4 hours, came down like a sheet of water was crazy, then followed by 70kmh winds. I went to work this morning (4am) and didn't get to see her until I got home, and was super surprised to see not even 1 sagging branch 💪. Got on the ladder and did a good check, was quite windy so have to check again tomorrow, but no sign of issues on the buds so far. As a precaution I had weighed down the skids with 100lb of wood and will leave it until harvest.
Speaking of buds, wow this plant grows em long and some near the top are getting pretty thick! Seeing the pistils changing color now too, almost 50/50 red on upper half. Gonna start the flush tomorrow and hopefully harvest in next 7-10 days. Nights are starting to get down near freezing this week coming, so be good to get her out of ground soon. Flushing with Advanced Nutrients Flawless Finish, have used in the past and seems to help, had some left from last year too so why not eh?
Can't wait to see what this week brings, happy growing all!
Well this has got to be the rainiest grow season that we have had here in a long time! 5 days of rain this past week, 3 of them consecutive bringing down 50mm of rain! Got some sun today but another big storm forecast for tonight, possibly 30mm more rain on the way.
Thinking ahead I built a roof out of scrap wood from the garage and some 10mm plastic that I had kicking around and it seems to be doing a very good job. Even on the heaviest of rain the plant is staying dry, aside from just a handful of the lowest branches, darn sideways rain! Just trying to get her through this week, most likely going to harvest in next 3-4 days. Could maybe leave it another week but rain forecast again all week, and I'm away for 4 days on the weekend so better to do it this weekend. Been flushing with Flawless Finish for 7 days now so should have her good and ready. Been a fun grow, hoping for a solid finish.
Got the 4x4 all ready in basement for drying, hope she fits! Be using an AC Infinity fan with smart controller to keep her at a happy place while drying, worry free is the way to be!
I don't have the best nose but she's smelling lemony and sweet, maybe a hint of berries? Not as strong a smell as strains I've grown in the past.
Happy growing and hope everyone has a good week!
This plant was a very hearty and disease resistant plant. Had a very wet season, and not one spot of mold to be found during initial trim. Long buds and a sweet aroma.
Very very hearty strain. She had an arm break and only held on by an inch, which in the end fully healed and held by itself. Very disease resistant and mold resistant, had the wettest August I can remember and no issues. Defoliated often and she always bounced back quick with massive dinner plate size fan leaves. Can't wait to cure and test her out.
I am growing the same plant outdoors and indoors to test yield under both scenarios. You should try some low stress bending and top the plant to help it spread out and create more colas :)
@Puffy_Clouds, if you do get a diary going for your indoor/outdoor comparison let me know if love to check it out as I plan on doing an indoor run of these in the fall or winter, would be cool to see how yours fare out!
Just using Sunshine Mix #4 Pro Growing Mix amended with sheep manure. Used 2 bags manure for every 100L bag of Sunshine Mix. When it's not raining I'm using Advanced Nutrients Micro Grow Bloom mix with the water. Leftover nutrients from last summer's grow so no cost. They really do seem to be liking the soil, most leaves are 9 point 💪.
interesting i wish i could share pictures with you on my progress with the two plants that i am growing. but i haven't started a diary here yet i planted the seeds in soil on May 16 so i am at about 6 weeks i used low stress bending on both and topped them. my outdoor one is about 4 feet high with multiple cola potential. Outdoor i think may reach 6-7 feet by the end of the summer. I just forced the indoor one into flower. getting a nice skunky smell on the outdoor she seems to really love the hot bright sun we are experiencing.
looking good Happiness.
These seeds have some great genetics. I'm in Ontario and my out door raspberry cheesecake is at 46" from the soil and has a very mild skunk smell. Whereas my indoor one has a distinctly different smell then the outdoor one. Much sweeter smell on the indoor and no skunk notes at all. I forced it into flower last week just because my tent is smaller (2x2). should be harvesting in 6-7 more weeks. going to do some analytical testing on the CBD content to see what the plant is capable of will let you know the results when i get them in the future.
i like your rebar set-up I'm using a tomato ring cone myself.
Keep posting.
P.S. I took a look at your blueberry, another fine grow. If you don't mind me asking, what what the effects of that plant once consumed?
@Puffy_Clouds thanks for the Stoke! I agree 💯 on the genetics, very glad I picked up this one and have seeds left 🙂. Can't wait to hear how the CBD potency turn out for ya, I've heard this strain can get 30% range! I'm hoping the height growth slows down soon or I'm gonna need my ladder again this year to tend to this one 🤦♂️.
And thanks for checking out my previous indoor run of the blue! I find it nice and smooth, usual blueberry flavours with a hint of lemon. Effects wise I really enjoy this strain. When having an after work puff you can feel the anxiety and sore muscles just melting away, leaving me feeling ready to tackle to home chores. I find it makes me chatty, and perks up my creativity also, have done some good McGyvering lately haha.
High Happiness,
Me again, she looks very well and healthy. Looks like I can use some of your advice. My CBD Raspberry cheesecake is entering preflower now a little bit ahead of yours. I think it may be flowering earlier because of where I am located in Ontario and my plant is in an area that has shade a little bit of the day.
My plant is draining nutrients from the lower leaves yellowing them; I have increased the nutrients to help this. Whereas, your plant looks so healthy all over are you experiencing the same issue and trimming away the yellowing leaves (pre-photo)? All in all, looks like we are going to end up with eight foot plants, and judging by the nodes a high yield outdoors.
My indoor test is in early flower now and grew so rapidly that i had to top some of them in flower stage as they were too close to the lights.
take care and can't wait to see next weeks progress!
Puffy
@Puffy_Clouds, Hmm I have not had this problem with this particular plant yet, but my blueberry plant does have this problem. So far have removed maybe 7-8 leaves from the blueberry but they have all been the fan leaves that grow directly below the branch against the main stalk. Im thinking with it most likely being a nitrogen deficiency (in my case affected leaves turning full yellow over 4-6 days no curling, rough feel) that it may be because I mixed 20% sheep manure in with my soil for CBD plant but not my blueberry. Sheep poop high in nitrogen over time so maybe why CBD is holding up better? Maybe a light top dressing could help, or some way to boost nitrogen only? Not sure if affected leaves would turn back to normal or not.
High Happiness,
Very nice again this week again, thanks for the reminder to defoliate. I will do the same on mine. not as tall as yours still mine in only 7 feet but my soil container is much smaller than yours. My Raspberry cheese cake was getting blown over in the wind (so top heavy) i have weighed down the planter pot with 20 lbs of weight to stop it from getting blown over. this plant is super thirsty so i think i will go to watering 2x a day like you have (hot days). Keep up the good growing.
Puffy
@Grow_for_Happiness, growing in a 10 liter pot which is too small for this plant. the plant size is hovering at 7 feet+ and i am afraid to trans plant it into another pot. watering the plant 2 x a day with the heat that we have been experiencing. My plant seems to be further alone in the flower stage then yours and has been flowering for sometime now but very slowly feels like there wont be a harvest on this until late September. The CBD raspberry cheesecake that i have been growing indoor is going to be ready in about 2 weeks maybe three, but i have some fox tailing on the buds because they grew too close to the lights. ( my tent is 2x2 and and i had to open the door and let some of it hang out to keep them cool). This strain grows tall fast.
nice outdoor net rigging on your girl (she look a tad thirsty in photo 3). Looking forward to the shape of your bud to see if they are slightly elongated like mine are.
Keep growing talk soon
@Puffy_Clouds, smart thinking on the weights! Curious, what size/type of container are you growing in? I thought the 100L would keep them smaller, wrong wrong wrong hahaha.
Gonna be keeping this plant nice and airy, might be cleaning up every 10-14 days at this rate
High Happiness,
Sounds like you had and exciting time with the wind on your plant the other day. Phew!!!
I am surprised to see the same elongated buds forming on your plant as i saw on my indoor grow. My indoor had similar elongation (not as dense as your plant but long like that). My outdoor grow has thick heavy colas, dense with bud, the colas a thicker than a tall boy can circumference. I wish i had started a diary so you can see. I think that you would find the stark difference notable.
Also it must be getting cold for you at nights do you think you will make it to harvest? how are the trichomes looking? I am harvesting tomorrow; just in time as the temperatures are starting to dip in the night.😀
Have a fantastic weekend! im about to pack a bowl and float away,
Puffy
@Puffy_Clouds ya it's funny how even though we are growing the same strain that the buds look so different, must be a different phenom? If mine get as thick as yours I'm not sure the netting will hold!
Ya nights are getting cold, luckily this week although rainy should be warmer at night (10°c). I was busy today building a shelter for her with rain in forecast next 4 days but still hoping for good finish next week.
High Happiness,
My plant seems much farther along (closer to harvest) then yours. Since we started at the same time I think this is because i am in Ontario and my plants are partly shaded throughout the day. The buds are growing quite thick and dense on my outdoor Raspberry cheesecake. the trichomes are starting to cloud up around the plant. I only have 6 colas but they are loaded with dense bud. My plant is smelling quite piney with a slight sweet smell that I cant quite place (a little fruity). the aroma on these is very faint compared to most other plants I've grown quite subtle but nice all the same. I cant wait to see your pics when the buds start to beef up. please post some pics of your buds close up. 😊
Have a great day,
Puffy
@Puffy_Clouds, that's awesome that your plant is already so developed! I bet your guess is right, little less sun a day = little earlier flower. Got some good pics up now, the stacking has begun!
I am also noticing a hint of fruity smell now but only in the last few days, I'm sure by next week she will have a good aroma. You gotta get your diary going, always fun to see the difference in the same strains!
Try growing some Dutch passion seeds if you want to grow a really tall plant sometime , I had one from them go to 14 feet last year haha , I kept the main stem as a trophy lol, I will try beating it next year , cheers to the outdoor cbd, I gots one too! Good luck and send some rain over here please
Hey I just seen this now .. looks very dopeshow.. heck ya you have a specific style to your grow it’s neat ...😮 you stole my idea with the ladder I was gonna take birds eye view shot of my garden next entry
@CroNiCGman, just caught this comment, thanks for the good words gromie! 4th year doing outdoor now, learning a lot every year always trying something new, keeping what works getting rid of the rest.
Curious how this one smokes. Do you find any buzz from it? Had some thieves steal my four plants I had going this summer. Going to attempt an indoor grow soon. 👍
