Did a lot of research prior to the germination, and decided to plant the seed directly into the pot with a little water, 4 days later and she sprouted!
After upgrading my grow box, she started opening up her first little leaves, growing at a steady pace under 18/6hrs light schedule and only watering when the top of the soil was dry. I kept the humidity levels up during the “night hours” using a plastic cone.
I also have a second plant that was planted 5 days later, this time I germinated by letting the seed sit in a jar of water for about 48hrs, then planted straight into the soil.
The box is made out of a plastic garden storage box, installed the lights, fans & reflective walls. I wanted something more convenient than a tent, as it’s smaller and easier to disguise 😉
Everything seems to be going great! The first plant had its first proper drink today, just feeding her plain water until week 3, when I’ll begin adding nutes (very gradually).
Week 3: Monday she had her first nute feeding, I’ll be feeding her every 4 days or so, plain water in between feeds when needed. Starting to develop some nice leaves now, will introduce LST soon!
So far so good, as this is my first ever grow I’ve decided to LST one plant and let the other do it’s thing. Any suggestions/ tips for my LST would be much appreciated 😂🌱
27/05: Today I finally finished building my upgraded box - using an IKEA wardrobe, I’ve upgraded my growing environment, installed a carbon filter extractor, another fan, and the lights are actually inside this box lol. I wanted something rather than a tent, it looks really good in my living room - very inconspicuous! 😉
Start of week 5: beginning to smell but it’s very subtle. First time grower so I was skeptical about LST because I didn’t want to interfere or stress the plant, but it seems to be responding well. I just wish I’d have started it earlier to really develop a shape I’m happy with; right now it’s a bit of a mess lol 😂
Following this, I’ve decided to LST my younger plant, I can already predict from the experiment that I’ll get a greater yield from low stress training the plant.
Leaves that were curling have began to recover - I think it was causing a slight wind burn having the fans pointing directly at the canopy, so now they’re both pointing towards the walls of the grow box, and it has had a dramatic effect - the number of curling leaves are decreasing, the temp is regulating at a crisp 25’ degrees, and wind circulation has helped with replacing the air every minute or so.
Excited to start the pre-flower stage, she’s starting to show some signs of where the bud sites will be and I can’t wait to see what she can do! Thanks for stopping by 🌱😎🔥
So my younger plant suffered some stress a couple days ago, whilst LSTing I didn’t realise that I’d basically trapped the very top of the plant, and it’s managed to stress and stunt its growth... it’s also jumpstarted it into preflower early for some reason..
I’m keeping a close eye on her, but the main plant is going strong; we’ve got about 9 main bud sites developing pistils, and she’s about to start her stretch! Bloom nutes have been added, feeding every 3-4 days, with plain water in between.
Upgraded my cabinet aswell with a lock and also draft excluders to minimise light leak & RH drops. Thanks for stopping by, happy growing! 🔥✌️🌱
Flowering stage is well under way now, pistils and buds are developing! I was hesitant & skeptical at first about defoliating my autos, but the fact was they were becoming too bushy, which was messing with the air flow and humidity levels - so I needed to chop a few leaves.
I’ve really enjoyed shaping my plants, it’s very therapeutic! I’ve taken the “lollipop” approach; by removing everything below the bud sites and leaves that were blocking any bud sites. Excited to see how they look next week!
Everything else is going well, nothing major to update. Thanks for stopping by, happy growing ya’ll! 👽👽
Start of week 8 and we’re looking good! The younger plant has overtaken the older, flowering quicker than the first. Both plants are now on the same nutrients and feeding schedule; feeding 1L every 3/4 days with 1L regular water once in between.
Upon closer inspection of the top soil, both plants have a little ecosystem of beneficial soil mites! I’m keeping a close eye for any signs of damage or any other incests, first time grower so this is one of my main concerns.
Everything else going great, getting close now, genetics guide says harvest in 10-12 weeks, so should be about 4 left, what do you think?
Week 9 update: both plants are on Canna PK13/14 this week, using 1.5ml/Litre and 3ml Rhizotonic per feed every 3/4 days, plain ph water in between. The younger plant has surpassed and completely overtaken the older plant. I’m thinking this could be due to the germination process, or stress. Either way, she’s taking her time compared to the other.
Humidity levels are now on the rise, I’m thinking I’ll not need the humidifier much longer, I want the rh levels between 40-50%.
Both plants are now producing trichomes on the main colas, and a lot of white pistils, they’re very hairy! Hoping that we’ll be done in about 5 weeks? What do you think?
Thanks for stopping by guys, happy growing! 💚
Start of week 10 and the buds are really starting to develop now. Lots of trichomes forming on all sites, and pistils are starting to fade from white to orange. The older plant was showing some signs of deficiency (rust spots on leaves) so I decided to feed some calmag this week - 1ml/litre.
Nothing else to report apart from germinating and planting a cannabonsai, a little experiment I’m testing using only 4x 30W LEDs! Stay tuned 💚
Week 11 from seed and things are starting to look frosty! The buds are stacking up nicely, and I’m seeing a lot of trichome production. The rust spots on the one plant haven’t gone away, but they haven’t gotten worse either, so I’m just going to ride it out with more calmag + flushes, and hope for the best.
Nothing else to report, the weather here has been hot the past week or so, so I’ve been fighting to get the climate just right, but I think the plants are doing well. Thanks for stopping by!
Beginning of week 12 and thins have been going well. Experienced a heatwave this week, and so I was battling to keep the temps down, highest it got to was 32.2C.... I had my humidity levels around 50% during this time to accommodate for the heat. Also using bottles of ice and temporarily changing the light schedule to 12/12 helped a lot.
Back to normal now and I think we’re getting close, I’ve been checking the trichomes and they’re all milky/clear with about 1% amber. I think about 2-3 more weeks before chop? See ya next week guys :)
My patience is starting to thin now haha! We’re getting close to harvest, I’d say a couple weeks left! I’m checking the trichomes daily, and the buds are starting to fatten up.
The smell is quite strong when you open the door, smells like sweet gas with hints of pine, a lot nicer than the catpiss-like smell a few weeks ago lmao! Starting to get some yellowing leaves at the lower parts of the plants - suggesting that the end is in sight, literally can’t wait.
Avg. day environment: 25-28C 35-40%RH
Avg. night environment: 22-25C 40-45%RH
I’m so excited to see what I can yield from these girls, for a first attempt at growing I’m very proud of how I’ve done so far, thanks for stopping by!
1 week off harvest, and things are going great. The smell is very strong now, and buds are stacking up. I’ll share some trichomes pictures at the end of the week, but there nearly all cloudy/milky now, with very little amber.
Very excited to harvest my first grow, couldn’t have done it without the help of people on Grow Diaries and Reddit. So thanks a bunch guys, stick around for the chop! ;)
For my very first grow, I was very happy with the harvest. I managed to pull 96g of really nice buds, and a further 22g of trim (I was very generous lol). Thanks for all the help and support 😎
