Germination

Second strain from Ganja Seeds - the always delicious Gelato Auto. Started her in a promix hp/coco/perlite 2:1:1 mix. Sprouting 3 days from germination is great for me, usually 4 or 5 days so we're off to a good start. The possessed dog is Abigail the Almighty and I wouldnt be surprised if she makes it into the pics again in the future lol

The painfully slow seedling stage *sigh* all is proceeding well, she seems a little leggy so I moved her closer to the light...not too worried, i know from experience that i can plant her deep when transplanting and the buried stem will grow roots....got her sub irrigated future home all set, just waiting for her to grow.... I have christened her Connie after Constanzia Corleone, only daughter of Don Vito....if you can, you should be watching The Offer

Transplanted Connie to her forever home, it could've gone a little more smoothly but nothing traumatic. I had hoped to plant her deeper but wasnt able to dig deeper without making a mess so I stuck in the metal skewer for a little added support. Filled the reservoir with water and a tsp of maxigro as well as some light watering around the transplanted medium to encourage the roots to spread laterally. June 9 - Connie loves her new home, already growing nicely. It's weird hardly ever watering her and how the topsoil is bone dry.

I seem to have forgotten to take pics of Connie this week so instead we have more pics of Abigail the Almighty. Flourishing in the sub irrigated planter. Shes even outpacing the Bruce Banner I started at the same time in coco/perlite. I'm excited to see what these Ganja seeds can do, I have to admit I've been underwhelmed with the harvest weights I've been getting off autos, finicky little bitches that they are

Moved Connie into the 12/12 tent last week due to space limitations in the veg tent. Initially, I had no plans to do any training and just see what an auto can do on her own but just couldn't stand seeing all that growth being hidden from the light under the top growth. Abigail remains a vigilant and dutiful guard dog and all she asks for in return is the post-harvest leftover stems to chew on - good girl :-) June 22 - Connie's got some leaves that are clawing, since overwatering shouldn't be a problem with a SIP and some leaves are unusually dark green, I'm guessing it's nitrogen toxicity. I haven't been giving her a lot of nutes but I flushed her out with tap water to be safe, run off pH was 7.1, about the same as the tap water.

Connie is straight up thriving! She has far outpaced a Bruce Banner Auto I planted in coco at the same time. It could be the strain, it could be that I've resisted the urge to train her more than the minimum, it could even be the SIP. She still has a few leaves that are clawing but other than that there dont seem to be any issues. Lots of bud sites forming now that the apical dominance is broken and a handful of large fan leaves have been removed to allow more light to penetrate. One thing I've noted: the center if the bud sites are a lighter green than the rest. I've read this is a sign of stress, likely from light as it's been an issue in the past. However, I get this light green colouration almost every time even outside last year and it never seems to lead to any detrimental effects. Believe it or not, Abigail is fast asleep and snoring in the picture, not possessed by a malevolent entity.

I continue to be impressed with Connie's growth. She's easily covering her corner of the tent with a beautiful canopy of baby buds. I've been adjusting her LST every few days to try and keep her even and low. I'm resisting the urge to exfoliate more than a few leaves, I'll try minimal stress for a change and see if this amazing growth continues. Woo for Ganja Farmer Seeds! July 7 - moved Connie outside, drilled holes in the bucket for more ties and adjusted the LST to really spread her open like the dirty girl she is

Connie continues to exceed all expectations. Shes easily the biggest autoflower I've grown and has only been growing faster since getting under the sunlight. My only concern is the pistils that are changing colour...

Auto Gelato in soil, just moved outside about a week ago and she's loving it. I noticed some of her pistils have already started turning pink/orange at their tips. Is this normal?

Connie is doing great, shes handled the transition to outside like a champ. I'm a little concerned with the pistils changing colour, it's way too early for her to be mature and there arent nearly enough trichomes for my liking. The Gelato smell is there and delicious as ever but the buds need to thicken if they're gonna be worthwhile. Time will tell...

Well, it's looking like Connie is nearing the end, somehow. Not even 60 days and the pistils are red/orange and most if the trichomes are opaque. Can't see any amber yet so it's not harvest time yet but I dont think the sad skinny buds are gonna get any bigger :-(

Auto Gelato from Ganja Farmer. Its day 58 and the trichomes are cloudy and the pistils are red/orange. The buds are beautiful and fragrant but still pretty small. Can she really be nearing harvest in less than 2 months? Is bud size typically lost in favour of speed with autos?

Autos are all I grow and I love them! But they CAN be troublesome, especially to growers who like to tinker with this, that and the other thing... for me, they're pretty straight forward... I agree with @Roberts in that you seem to have given it too much nitrogen in the flowering stage... they need a trace of it, certainly, but they really need a lot of potassium and phosphorus as this is what will boost bud development. Too much nitrogen in flowering can and often does cause a calcium lockout... but you have no problem with that deficiency so no worries! Just making a point. That being said, you have what you have.... I don't think you're quite ready yet as I'm not seeing any signs of fade in your plants... you might knock off any component of your nutes that has any nitrogen in it (your Maxibloom is the only one you're feeding them with nitrogen and it's got a lot) and run with that for a bit... As for the trichs, you'll want to see about 10-20% turn amber before you harvest so you might have another week or two if they're all milky at the moment. Don't wait much longer... the more amber they get, the less THC they'll have and the more disappointing your smoke... Good luck!

This will be the last week I post until harvest, should only be a few more days. She's been flushed out and the leaves are turning yellow faster as she consumes herself. I'm amazed by the speed of her grow to maturity but honestly disappointed in the size of her buds. This is likely due to user error- I'm still a novice and have come to the conclusion that autoflowers are still beyond my skill set. I'll be following any others growing this strain to see how it performs under a more experienced hand. Abigail the Almighty continues to reign supreme.

Dried weight 44g. Trying a Grove bag for curing this time, I've been getting sick of burping the mason jars and fall harvest means a lot of curing. The buds were too small and not nearly enough trichomes, maybe I shoulda lollipopped more, maybe its genetics, maybe I stunted her somewhere along the way - who knows with autoflowers, finicky little things :-P The smell is amazing but I'll have to wait til curing is done to sample. Tbh i have pretty low expectations for potency, the sugar leaves didnt have any sugar :-/ Thanks to Ganja Farmer Seeds for the chance to grow something different :-)
