Well I don’t know what happened to the seeds while they were in transit? I just germinated 18 seeds successfully at the same time and under the exact same conditions. I have honestly no clue why both didn’t germinate! They are from a seedbank overseas. Maybe customs did something to the seeds? I will try to germinate the last one via paper towel method in my bedroom, where I can maintain ultimate control. Just a constant 75F. I’ve always managed to get seeds to germinate via paper towel method.
I also always get them to germinate via direct sow. I watched these two seeds along with many others in very tiny little starter pots. They all germinated beautifully! These two started at same time under same conditions but….. nothing so far. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks for the 100% Authentic “Bawelna” Socks from Poland! Super cool. I don’t remember being required to start all 3, so the third one is almost half the size, I’m saving it as backup in case there are any issues with the first two.
I am using a soil mix consisting of 50% reused from last year. I mixed a lot of fresh lime and azomite to help restore balance as well a small amount of humic shale ore. However not as much humates were added as I normally would due to limited supplies. Nevertheless the media seemed like it probably had adequate levels of humates from last year.
The remaining 50% was a new “ultimate potting soil” consisting of peat moss and perlite with “starter charge” (for seedlings I guess??), dolomitic and calcitic limestone, and wetting agent. Manufactured in Quebec, product of Canada!
I checked the soil pH after filling two 3-gallon fabric pots with the 50/50 mix, resulting a pH of 7
The average high is 78 Fahrenheit during the day. At night, the average low is 44 Fahrenheit. As of day 1.
Day 6: They have been staying in the shade all day every day so they don’t get too hot! The high is about 78, soil temp is about 75, I’ve found keeping it well hydrated really easy, still I check them to make sure they are good.
Day 8: really concerning why I haven’t seen anything yet! All the other seeds I have started have come up already. They have all been in the same environment germinating together. So it’s strange these are behind. Maybe the seeds are really old.
Day 9: I carefully removed the soil on top of the seeds to check on them. I easily found both seeds, they were both wet and dark but neither popped! It’s really discouraging! I mean the temperature was good the whole time, they never dried out, they were definitely NOT drowning! I’m really confused. Everything has been ideal for germination and I literally just germinated over a dozen at same time in same way in the exact same environment, except the others were in smaller pots that could have had more room for error. And they all germinated with remarkable success. So why these two didn’t germinate is really upsetting to me. I don’t understand why they haven’t pooped after all this time. I didn’t take pictures, I don’t go to get my camera, I just put them back in to germinate some more. But this time would be harder to find them again. I knew exactly where they were before. Now I’d have to look for them. But THANK GOD I have this last little seed. She’s my obi wan! My only hope! Lol
Good luck with your last seed! I hope it grows XL for you! When I sow seeds directly into the soil, I only give them about 50ml of water and then place a transparent cover over the sow. From the picture it looks that you saturated the whole container. But if this works for you then it works! I've never done It personally but have heard that it's too wet for such a tiny seed. Better to increase the amount of water slowly as the seeds grows bigger. But that's just my 2 sense and wish you great growth with your last seed my friend! Happy growing 😁💨
@Hydro_Hiebs, yeah indoors is rot my seed away. But outdoors, I start with a completely saturated pot. Then about 24 hours later the top inch is only damp-ish. I am able to dry out a 3 gallon pot from completely soaked within only about 3 days. Something to do with the bone dry air and the high elevation sun. I am actually able to start a direct sow with great success by starting with s fully soaked container. It gives me a sort of 24hour soak in glass water effect. I don’t ever rehydrate the media unless it’s too dry on the top. But usually I get this perfect transition where by the time the tap root is out and cruising downwards, it ends it rather dry on the top but perfect at the seed where it’s almost chasing the water down as the pot dries out. It’s a very atypical approach indeed! However I’ve found excellent results. But this only applies under certain conditions obviously. Yeah I have no clue. I figure something happened to them during transit like maybe they got way too hot! Or it’s very possible something was off on my end. It’s just unusual for me and I wish I know exactly what caused this mess. The last one was no good either. I just didn’t post anything.
Anyways, I definitely appreciate the feedback.
As always, happy growing!
