I have three grow diaries going with Super Auto Seeds. I want to see if there isn’t any difference in the way the plant grows and the final yield, comparing a 3 gallon pot to a 7 gallon pot. 100% success germination. I start seeds in a wet paper towel for 2-3 days and then once I see a good tap root I drop the seed into a solo cup with CoCo LoCo!

Each one took off! Day 13 was transplant day. I use aloe flakes and Xtreme mykos to help with shock. I also put some clover top dress in the 7 gallon pots.

Started to see some purpling in the stems so I upped the magnesium with epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). I would really like to use Microbeneficials magnesium product but I still have a bunch of epsom salt so once I run out I will finally order their product. I also did a foliar spray with Lazarus and Uriah on day 17 and 19. Day 25 and im impressed!! Be sure to click my instagram link for more photos!!

These two are fairly close development wise. The 7 gallon has a more symmetrical and more nodes. Stoked on both of these! I added some Bloom boost and I am going to add a craft blend top dress on wednesday (day 35)

The pics are from day 35 and I covered the cover crop with some rich compost I made. I then put coco loco on top because I like the microbe profile to help with absorption of my compost.

Hi fam, I’m not sure if the color variation is from different pheno’s or if there is a nutrient problem. Both plants have been fed the exact same but look way different. And the light colored one is getting some yellow/rust spots. What’s your thoughts?

Hello @diamondtrichomes ! In general when growing with organic nutrients we don't measure ppm. It is pointless. We measure ppm at free mineral nutrients. The reason is that organic nutrients have a lot of organic matter diluted in them. That diluted organic matter raises your ppm but it gives no nutrition to the plants. So you are measuring ppm with no nutritional value. Any way if it was a mineral nutrient 450 ppm is very low for a plant at third week of flowering. You should be at 600-700 ppm ( if you were using mineral nutrients ). I really don't see any sign of over feeding and i don't think you can over feed with the dosage that you use. All i see is a hungry plant for nitrogen . Maybe that pheno needs more food or maybe the other plants will show signs of deficiencies later. Happy growing ! 👊

It looked like the 3 gallon was going to out do the 7 gallon but if give it to the 7 gallon on overall quality smell and yield.

I ended up getting a bit more from the 3 gallon (44.8grams) but the 7 gallon (40.4 grams) had better quality nugs: the smell was better and stronger, the density and overall bud structure was better. I’m not sure if that’s results of soil/nutrients or just pheno...pretty sure it’s from pheno. I’m going to just grow in 3 gallons since the yield wasn’t there.

Each plant is it's own bean and you never quite know until the end how things will turn out, all we can do is provide the best care and environment we can along their journey, helping to shape these lovely girls.

@diamondtrichomes,and yes always give her wet soil before you add something happy growing

@Will_journals, ya that’s what I figured. I thought you mentioned something about that not being a good comparison but maybe I read wrong. Just wanted to see why :)

There's no real difference between the two, root structure/growth is the only direct difference on the plant.

Hi @diamondtrichomes! Well my guess is that both plants are not fully healthy, pale one is too-pale, dark one is too-dark. Both plants are showing different reactions to the same problem, because they might have different phenotypes, and they have different container sizes. On the pale one I can see burnt tips and yellowing+spots between the veins, this tells us that the plant was overfed in the past and might suffer from manganese deficiency, but this could also come from Zinc or Sulfur deficiency, at this stage it's hard to tell. However, looking at the amount of nutrients you gave in the last weeks, a real deficiency is not likely, that's why I'm thinking of a nutrients-lockout. Indeed, by giving much nutrients in your waterings AND rich compost at the same time, you may have created a salt-buildup in your coco, and now the plants cannot absorb nutrients anymore. In this scenario I would try to remove the compost mix, flush them for 3-4 days with plain pH'd water and re-calibrate the pH-pen, then back to nutrients with lower doses and see how it goes. Hope this helps, I'll be around, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊
