Germination took not quite 48 hours. I placed five seeds in a paper towel, sprinkled aloe flakes and Bavaria Bassaria, a fungus which innoculates the seedling after germithanation, If insects bite the plant or roots, the fungus will penetrate the insect cuticle and will spread to the pests body becoming food for the plant. Placed in a nursery cup using Build a Soil Light Recipe. Placed germinated seeds 1/4" from the soil substrate. Will continue in these nursery pots until transplanted to an earthbox. Two of the plants will grow in the earthbox, one in an earthbox jr and one each in five gallon grow bags. I have two tents and will place earthboxes in one and grow bags in the other. The FCE-3000 will be used on the growbags. I will create a grow schedule of events from Monday.com to plan for grow actions.
Description
Peyote Gorilla is a cross of Gorilla Glue #4 (Chem Sister x Chocolate Diesel) and Peyote Purple, a bright, vibrant phenotype of Bubba Kush. The potent, medicinal effect of the Gorilla meets the stimulating and uplifting high of the Peyote Purple.
How Peyote Gorilla Grows
With a flowering time of around 70 days, Peyote Gorilla has a typically indica structure, medium-sized with large, broad leaves. Yields are excellent; indoors , growers can expect to yield between 500 - 650 gr/m2, while outdoors, as much as 1500 gr/m2 can be produced. Resin levels are very high, which means that it is very suitable for making extracts and concentrates.
Peyote Gorilla Taste, Smell, and Effect
This strain's scent is sour with lemon, petrol, earthy, and woody notes, and these properties are reflected in the taste. THC production is very high at between 22 - 26%, with CBD at just 1%. The effect is a very potent, uplifting one that gradually evolves into a physically relaxing state that will be almost certain to ease any aches and pains.
Over watered and failed to tamp off properly attempting to rid the excess moisture. Moisture back at correct level and tamping off seedlings. Will transplant in the next two weeks.
Low light seedlings doing what seedlings do... keep light low and growth pressure down until transplant. Will be using earthbox and growbags for this grow.
Low light seedlings doing what seedlings do... keep light low and growth pressure down until transplant. Will be using earthbox and growbags for this grow. Of the 5 plants, I stunted one from overwatering and the second has a very bizarre structure. I'll cull those and grow the three which is more manageable. I'll transplant within the week as I upped the PAR to around 450.
Three happy seedlings transplanted into earthboxes. I culled two of the plants as I am stressing quality not quantity. One was an overwatering that dwarfed the plant, the other was a bizarre structure and leaf formation. The earthboxes are not filled with water as I plan to top water until the roots make a home and to discourage anaerobic conditions. I check moisture daily with an inaccurate moisture meter. It's accurate enough to tell me when to top water. Plants started growing after transplant and the stems are strengthening. I took a PAR reading of 300 and will be ramping that up slowly to 800 in the next few weeks...
Great week! Plants are growing with vigor just as they should after transplant. Before transplant last week, I amended the two earthboxes with BAS Craft Blend and Earthworm castings on the Earthbox. I top watered as I have experienced anaerobic conditions if you fill the reservoir before allowing the plants to throw out roots after transplant. I watered after amending at less than 8% of soil volume. There is still a lot of moisture as I check with a moisture meter daily. The plants love the environment as well growing 6" in one week after transplant. There was no slowing down and I waited a full week to top the plants and start training. I will water when the earthbox moisture levels are lower. Both earthboxes have a mulch layer. On the Earthbox Jr, I am using the shower curtain cover as a mulch layer. On the Earthbox I am using several layers of barley straw sourced from BAS. I also used some bokashi treated bran under the layer of straw to help make the amendments available to the plant faster. I have both earthboxes in the same tent but will move the Earthbox Jr to the other tent before filling the reservoir when needed. So far, so good... I will look at the side branching next and will put in a scrog net to assist with training in about two weeks and then flip to flower...
Great week after transplant and topping. I have two environments now. The tent with the earthbox jr is kept around at 80 degrees F and acts as the lung room for the other tent which is preheated by the former and stays around 84 degrees F. You can tell a difference in the environments as the warmer tent is fostering much more vigorous growth than the cooler tent. After topping, side branching hormones took affect immediately and side branching is now very pronounced. I plan to put both tents into flower next week. I have top dressed both of the earthboxes with Build a Soil Build a Flower top dress to prepare the soil for amendments related to flowering. I also added a combination of comfrey and insect frass ferments, adding an ounce to the reservoir of the earthboxes with rain water and horticulture coconut. Will accomplish light defoliation before flipping to flower.
Placed in flower on Monday of this week, and accomplished some defoliation, removing only the largest leaves on the plant to open it up to the air and light. Plants in the warmer environment are growing vigorously. The cooler tent 2, is the lung room for tent 1 and stays around 80 degrees F.
All three plants are doing well. All plants are healthy and have begun to stretch. I moved my light in tent 1 to the top of the tent as both tents have 300 watt lights and I can maintain a PAR of 850 or so without dimming if paced at top of the tent. Girls are drinking out of their earthbox reservoirs and are thirsty as I have to provide nearly three gallons every few days to the girls in tent 1 and one gallon for tent 2 as it is an earthbox jr. with 7 gallons of soil and a smaller reservoir than the regular earthbox of 14 gallons of soil. Great growth this week and I expect to see flowers forming by next week. I will also scrog next week to train during stretch as my tent height is 63 inches with the top foot being taken up by lighting and an exhaust fan. The scrog allows the plant to stretch but i can train the plants to fill up the canopy of the 3x3. So far, so good...
Big Week... after placing into flower and top dressing appropriately, this week was dedicated to scrogging and training the plants during their stretch as I have limited vertical height to grow. Flowers are starting to develop and the canopy is pretty full with the two plants in one tent. I picked up PAR giving them 800 PAR during flower. The second tent is growing as well as though not as vigorous as the girls in Tent 1, she is developing nice structure and flowers. May not need to scrog for another two weeks... Had to defoliate girls as well as air and light was being blocked with all the growth. Gave the girls in Tent 1 a feeding of horticulture coconut, Build a Soil Big Six macro nutrients, and Build a Soil Build a Bloom. Will accomplish the same for Tent 2 next week.
Another care free week. I had to elevate lighting as stretch brought flowers too close to the light. I was able to use ties to secure the lighting to the top of the tent with the cross piece supports and provided the girls another foot or so grow room. Stretching quite a bit after scrogging and training the branches to provide a continuous canopy throughout the 3 x 3. I also defoliated the larger leaves but as you can see, we are maxed out and I will need to defoliate again to provide light and ventilation. Have fan underneath the canopy to provide fresh air and to prevent conditions conducive to mold as the heat and humidity is a little high for flower. Flower development and stacking continues. The second environment is also flowering beautifully and side branching has continued through the grow after topping. Although smaller than the plants in the first tent, flower development and stacking is continuing as well. This week I provided a new product to top drench the earth boxes. Thrive Probiotics Yah-Whey. Whey from kefir grains have a complex microbial biology composition with polysaccharides, nutrients, minerals and proteins. These fermented compounds create a diverse probiotic whey for your plants and soil. The girls both started praying after providing a very small amount as a top drench, 1/2 oz. to a gallon of water. I used a ratio less than what is recommended and came out with spectacular health and vigor. Will use this as a regular routine going forward. Noticed my girl in tent 2 looked hungry. Gave her some Thrive Probiotics Yah-Whey and some BlueGold®️ Fusion FLWR 7-4-2 and Neptune's Harvest Hydrolyzed Fish 2-4-1 and horticulture coconut with rain water to feed her with a drench.
Another great week although this one went by so fast when I looked up it was Friday! Plants are praying and I am very happy to see the plants doing so well. Gave feedings to both plants that included Build a Bloom, Hydrolysate Fish, Yah Whey, Horticulture Coconut and Fusion Flower. Using a new wetting agent as well. This one is also from Build a Soil. Quillaja Saponaria Extract Powder 20. A great source for saponins. Working on developing my humus layer on my no till earthboxes. Developing nicely breaking down nutrients, keeping the topsoil layer moist and protecting the soil. Plants are still stretching, and buds are developing nicely and stacking beautifully.
Great week... kind of... in the first tent, the environment is great. I cooled the tent off by exhausting more frequently. Colas are beautiful and buds are stacking nicely. No issues with this tent at all, except I would like to see the plants praying more. I defoliated once again adding the leaves to my humis layer I have created. Now with tent 2, the plants are in an advanced stage of Chlorosis. I have fed several times in the last few weeks and have not noticed any improvement. Do not wish to add too much nitrogen at this time of flower to prevent fox tailing or any unusual growth while flowering. Since I know the issue is not nutrition as far as the inputs or an imbalance of inputs, the issue is the earthbox jr. The Jr. holds half the soil of the earthbox and since I no till and reuse the soil in the earthbox, I believe the issue is that the earthbox is filled with roots from this and previous grows and there is no room for the roots to be able to uptake the nutrition. I used a different earthbox junior to grow tomatoes and when I cut the tomatoes down and explored the soil in the earthbox, I could not believe the network of roots that are created and the displacement of the soil. In that earthbox, I found little soil and mostly roots. I believe this is the issue with this earthbox as it is in the third grow, reusing the media, amended before each grow by enhancing a humis layer and adding my amendments to the top of the earthbox for the feeder roots to feed upon. There is little I can do at this time as there is no way to transplant at this time. I will water and have no choice but to allow the plants to senesce keeping an eye on the maturity of trichomes as it may finish much sooner.
3-4 weeks to go and things are looking great in tent 1 where I have 2 Peyote Gorilla girls in an Earthbox. The stretching is complete, and the girls are finishing. This tent was a breeze. No issues with growth and a lot of nutrition the plant can use to finish. Colas are stacking and beefing up... trichomes are very evident and I believe this plant is very happy. I water the humis layer with 1/4 gallon of rainwater to keep moist. However tent 2 is a different story. I noted that the plant was undergoing severe chlorosis. I believe this is due to my re-use of this earthbox jr, has created such a strong root structure from this and previous grows, that the plant cannot uptake nutrients as required. There is plenty of nutrition in the box and I added a small amount (1/4 cup) of Craft Blend mixed with Naranja that I milled and some gnarly barley, a malted seed meal that was germinated and then stopped to trap the seed hormones and prepares the starches to be converted into fermentable sugars. So I know there is great nutrition to the plant available but something else is preventing uptake. I don't use bottled nutrients so I must wait for the food to breakdown and become plant available. At this point of maturity I want to be careful with Nitrogen... I have seen such weird affects that may cause lockout, and foxtailing and new bud growth as the plant is finishing. I will watch carefully as the plant senesces, as bud development is far ahead of development in size compared to tent 1.
Uneventful week once again. Growing organic is the easiest method I have ever utilized. A possible few weeks left and the buds are bulking up beautifully. Even the plant that is having difficulty producing chlorophyl is attempting to finish ahead of schedule. Trichome development looks normal for both plants with the single plant looking as it will mature first. I am providing rainwater only in the last weeks as the plants senesce and finish. Smell is outrageous according to my wife as my sense of smell is deteriorated. Just keeping the reservoirs full when emptied and providing 1/2 gallon of rainwater divided by both tents to keep topsoil moist. Will keep scoping trichomes for maturity and harvest. Won't be long...
Another worry-free week. Plants are senescing and finishing up nicely. Both tents are still drinking water and bulking up buds. The second tent flowers that suffered chlorosis early are some of the best buds of the entire grow. I think this plant will be a terpy expression of her sister. Smell is strong and I moisten the top of the earthbox daily with less than a pint of rainwater daily to keep the humis layer moist. The plants are loving it. I have given only rainwater and will continue until harvest. I scoped the trichomes and they are mostly still clear. Expect the plants to finish in 1 to 2 weeks. Easy grow so far...
Another uneventful week growing. I thought I would be harvesting one of the plants, but she is not quite ready. What I see occurring is the development of trichomes. Although the buds are maturing, the plant with chlorosis which is rootbound, is coated with trichomes. Just amazing how thick the coat of trichomes growing at present. On the other girls, they are starting to senesce and leaves are turning purple. Trichomes are still clear on one tent, but cloudy in the other. Just providing rain water when reservoir is empty and a morning spritz on the humis layer to keep the topsoil moist. Now just waiting for the right time to harvest.
Another worry free week... Although I thought I would be harvesting this week, the trichomes are not ready and the girls are still drinking. All trichomes are now cloudy and I am just checking day by day for ripeness. Just providing water when reservoir is full... will check trichomes before filling reservoir again as the plants are awfully close to harvest. Buds are still bulking up and I have a couple of big ones that are threatening to bend over. That is a good problem to have! Still providing rainwater and will be collecting additional rainwater for use before the season forces me to put up for the winter.
Great grow! No issues encountered in VEG, but one plant in an earthbox jr. which I have used before on a previous harvest ran out of root space preventing the plant to develop chlorophyl in flower. I fed with fish solution and used probiotics to keep plant going until harvest. I think it will be a terpy example of the two plants grown in a full size earthbox. Buds were very heavy and dense. The branches were straining at the end to hold the colas up. Most colas were size of a baby's arm... really happy about the grow. I do not record weight until removed from tents after drying (10- days or so...) and will weigh before placing in jars. Very strong odor of chocolate. My buds did not look exactly like the picture Seedsman provides. Instead my girls took after their gorilla glue lineage. Plants will hang for 10 days and then cured for a minimum of 30-60 days.
