This is my first grow from scratch and not much experience to compare to. The Blackberry Gum seed is placed between dampened paper towel on a saucer and wrapped over with foil. I wanted to use cling film but couldn't find it. Alongside is another seed for a separate diary (#01 Tangerine). In my grow cupboard are is a Blue Dream Sherbet which is just finishing (I didn't start this one) so there's a decent amount of warmth in there to help with germination. Literally just a couple of drops of BioBizz Acti-Vera has also been allowed to soak into the paper to help the process. Sat above the light in shade. 3 days in, I opened the foil expecting the seeds to have sprouted but they had only just opened. I decided to put these to soil now with the thinking that they've now already been exposed. The seeds went into biodegradable cups and watered enough to be damp. The 10L air pots were filled with BioBizz Light-Mix soil and had a 2L solution added between them. The solution: 2L water to 1/8tsp Microbes, 1mL Root-Juice, 2mL Alg-A-Mic. (BioBizz). Then sprayed all over with a strong Neem Oil solution to deter insects but not on the seeds to prevent over doing it at a delicate stage. Edit: The paper towel method failed so tried again using the glass of water technique which this time was a success. One light switched off so from now one for at least a couple of weeks, only one of the LED full spectrum lights will be running.

Grow Questions

Following grower's advice, I chose not to top my autos. When buying the seeds initially, I tried to buy only strains that were said to grow up to medium height. Towards the end of week 5 and my Blackberry Gum is 90cm high. How can I slow this down without affecting yield? TIA

Oh I feel your pain... had EXACTLY the same thing happen to my Tangerine Dream grow... I actually thought about ripping the top of the tent off! What I DID do was as much LST as I could find to do... if the stems are pliable - and I stress PLIABLE - you can bend them down to at most a 90-degree angle ... hell, I think I even did some "Z" shaped LST on mine! If you're growing in fabric pots, take a LONG strip of some soft cloth, loop it over the stem you're trying to pull down and gently pull as much as you can - do it slowly so you can judge whether there's resistance there or not and stop when you feel serious resistance - and then pin or otherwise attach the strip to the pot. I bought some LST clips that I also used WAY up high and well away from the main branch because that's where the stems are going to be the woodiest and easiest to break... From there, I had to do a lot of defoliation to keep light on the underneath buds... Check out my diary if you want for some pics of what I had to do. I was growing 2 plants and ended up having to get a second tent so they could each have their own... it was wild... Good luck to you!

Interesting hanging method! Hadn't ever considered that but it makes a lot of sense! Nice grow!

@GrowingGrannie, Thank you. Space was always going to be an issue so I figured a vertical space was the best solution. These are my first grows from scratch and I'm not disappointed with it yet.

Hi everyone, thank you for visiting. I was Libricorn but now renamed to VertiGrow. I have changed the format in which I'll be recording my grows with detailed daily stats and comments listed each week. xx.x measures are placeholders to be updated as the week goes by. Thanks again. Happy growing! 🙂🌿
