My introduction to home grown cannabis. I was kindly given a Blue Dream Sherbet autoflowering plant from a friend who was disappointed with its progress. Having already started building a grow space, and plenty of experience using BioBizz nutrients and substrate for veggies, I thought this was a good opportunity to start. The plant at this stage was already at 9 or 10 weeks and budding nicely.

Already a considerable increase on bud density. The grow space sealed along the frame and lined with polystyrene sheets and foam board to retain heat and dampen any noise.

So considerably more progress to the grow space with more lighting added and sides lined. A narrow space dictates that vertical is the way to go so I opted for using chains and S hooks to hang 10L air pots from. The BDS is in the pit that it was given in and at this stage I didn't want to stress the plant by repotting it so the air pot serves only to hold it exactly where I want it from the lights. The next grow which'll be from start will be using these air pots as intended.

The last watering with nutrients at the beginning of the week. One or two more this week maybe but just water to flush it. Some trichomes on the leaves and the bud hairs are turning colour. Virtually no scent near the grow. The buds leave a slightly sticky residue when touched that have a fruity and slightly sour citrusy smell. I took a little piece off early and dried it out throughout the day under the laptop fan to try out of curiosity. It crumbled completely at the end of the day but all the scent had gone. Not at all a fast hitting high but then again I didn't expect it.

The cone has been removed and put into a lesser used cupboard that's near a heat source. Rice, sea salt and Epsom salt in tubs to help draw moisture away from the buds. A flush without nutrients done two days prior with another week of this planned for the rest of the plant.

One of my grows is nearing the end and is being flushed this week ready for the chop on Saturday. Do I need to adjust the feed schedule for the next grow to account for any residual nutrients in the soil from the last grow? I am using BioBizz Light-Mix soil & full BioBizz range.

New plants = new soil. Trying to save money on this basic necessity is unwise. You only get out what you put in! Compared to the overall expense involved with growing, soil is only a minor cost. You also run the risk of diseases destroying your next crop due to build up of pathogens in the used soil, not to mention problems with pH and residual nutrient salts. Just don't do it, buy fresh, sterile, unpolluted soil and give your plants the best chance at life!
