Day 1! Germination was placing the seed directly into the medium, about 5mm deep, took 4 nights and she's awake :) almost ruined the grow by checking for the seed yesterday, as im still not 100% sure this seed is what its meant to be - was given to me by friend, i trust them but i dont know about the person they got it off, we've never met. My friends seems adamant that it is Solomatic. Guess i'll find out in 10 weeks or so? lol. Well, i'll find out in around 3-4 if its an auto or not, i think by the speed and ease of germination that it is an auto, but who knows really? Really really do hope that this is Solomatic, as I'm growing this for medicinal reasons, mainly to help my mother with her severe arthritis. If it doesnt end up being solomatic its okay, i have some more cbd dominant strain seeds arriving in 4-5 weeks. And once my Gorilla Glue is out of the flowering tent i'll move this one in, and start a CBD Lemon Auto (1:1 ratio thc/cbd at 17%). Oh yeah, i should probably explain the growing environment. I have a small veg tent thats meant for seedings, but ive put it on its side and its plenty big enough to veg one plant until its about a foot in height. There is a cheap 45watt led board in there, not the best but fine for vegging for a couple of weeks. My plan is to yeah, veg her in there for 2-3 weeks in there, probably until gorilla glue is done, then move her into the big tent, under 400watt hps. I thought about using MH again for a few weeks but i've been reading more into that and a lot of people claim that they see hardly any, if not none at all, difference between using MH and HPS. Plus i have pepper plants in there (Jalapenos) that i'd prefer not to stress out by light source changes (im sure it'd be fine but they're my babies), plusssss its winter here, and i really need the heat from HPS. at 400watt it's only maintaining around 22-23 degrees celsius, id prefer 25-28 but to achieve that i need to up the power to 600watt (the bulb is rated at 600 and i have a digital ballast), put both oscillating fans on, crank the extractor fan to high (not max) and open up the flaps at the bottom of the tent more. I live in a country where we need to be careful with growing, and doing all that creates quite a bit of noise so to be honest its not worth it. Last plant grew fine at 22-23 degrees so hopefully this will be fine. I have been contemplating getting another LED to put in the flower tent, boost the heat a bit as well better/more/different light spectrum. I'm probably going to go back to LED in the warmer months anyways.

okay well, looks like she pulled through after all! hahah. So when i saw it had no true leaves, i did some research, saw that there was a 50/50 chance of it surviving and even if it did it would take a very long time. so i pulled it out of the soil, left it on the ground (carpet) for a while, decided to repot it, then decided to take it out again and repot it in a small pot and put in the flowering tent under 400watt HPS. Then decided to repot AGAIN into its final pot, and before that i had the seedling just left on a workbench, roots exposed etc. And now we have this, day 6 (not week 2 i know but almost). I'm genuinely shocked that it survived and is growing (albeit slowly, hopefully it'll pick up when there's more actual foliage to help with photosynthesis). From what i've seen online, this strain doesn't grow very big (1oz plant kinda thing), so i've used a smaller pot, probably 7.5 litres at a guess, to make room in my tent. Gave her a very small feeding of calipro veg a % b - i know feeding seedlings is dumb, but it was a tiny feeding and i thought she may need a bit of a boost. So this diary is back on! hahah Side note - i need to buy some more medium, added too much perlite for my liking.

I'm a week ahead on this one too whatever, it was a strange start and i just wanted to show you all how well she's doing now :) I've had a dome over her for extra humidity and its done wonders! she's now too wide for the dome so hopefully she continues to grow at this speed. growing kinda interestingly, almost looks like its already been topped. fed her a small feeding of calipro grow a & b, seems to have helped

Day 15 Fed a bit again this week, seems to take nutrients well. Growing a bit messy, hoping she'll sort herself out, growth is pretty steady now. Since changing to 400 Metal Halide the temps have dropped quite a bit, averaging around 21degrees celcius during the day and 17.5-18 at night, not as warm as i'd like it to be but she hasn't really complained. I've noticed a few White Flies flying around, not sure where they're coming from... manage to catch them each time i see them, has only been 1 tiny little one once a day. I sprayed all the plants in veg (minus a tiny seedling) with "Enspray99" - https://www.grosafe.co.nz/insecticides-hg/organic-enspray-99-insect-oil-300ml/ - which i've previously used to get rid of some powdery mildew, worked a charm so hopefully it'll make the white flies go away too, or at least work as a repellent. Says not to spray under light/during the day but with a 24/7 light schedule i had no choice. Sprayed the big jalapeno plant too, which to be honest i may have to get a second tent for because shes getting pretty huge! Still a bit nervous that this isn't Solomatic, as I got it through a friend, not directly from a seedbank. Once I see some preflowers i'll feel better, although that only means its an auto, won't know for sure for a good 8-10 weeks. Day 19 performed some LST on her last night, she's bounced back pretty well today :) looks a bit of a mess but from what i've read about this strain, its pretty normal for it to look messy. plan is to let her main cola grow out further and tie it down with string, not a 90degree angle though, more like 35, then continue LST with the side branches. I haven't been that successful with low stress training yet, but seeing as this strain is quite a low yielding one i thought i'd give it another go so i can get the most out of it. I'm fairly confident that this is in fact Solomatic, i've been looking at heaps of other grow diaries and she looks the same and is growing the same, i realise a lot of small plants in veg look the same but this strain seems to have a particular leaf look to it. i really hope im right! Have raised the lights quite a bit, think it was stressing her out a bit. Lux is around 30,000 - which is pretty bang on, apparently 15,000-50,000 is fine, but yeah, think she'll like this a bit more. My other plants have suffered from some nute burn, and i think i noticed a little bit on this one too, so no more nutes until flower :)

Day 23 - not quite week 5 but she's started throwing preflowers so yeah, entering flowering. Fed a couple of plants with 1.5ml of both cali pro bloom a + b, solomatic got the most of it so yeah around 1ml of each. Was hoping she would have another week of veg before showing signs of flowring but here we are. most likely going to be a small plant which is a bit of a bummer but it is what it is. LST is working well, few more days and won't look so messy - i noticed an extra stem/node/budsite/whatever growing where theres meant to be 2 (see photos) should be interesting. Happy that its actually an auto, im still not 100% on if this is actually solomatic or not, i wont know until after harvest, pretty sure though. Did some early defoliating to make room for new growth

Day 46 Bit gutted that she flowered as early as she did, definitely a small plant, the LST worked well but would have been even better if i had another 2 weeks of veg. She's got a nitrogen excess issue too, seems to slowly be fixing itself up. Smell from the calyx's is very sweet, wasn't expecting it and initially made me think its not Solomatic (until i looked it up and it does have a sweet smell). Not much to say really, shes growing well enough, no real issues other than the nitrogen one. Will be a very small harvest but whatever. I have another couple of plants just starting, another CBD lemon (in a bigger pot this time, 3 gal airpot) and a Buddha Medikit CBD auto in a 2.5ish gallon pot. Both with fresh medium. Not going to be playing around with them (no training), just gonna let em grow. I am looking forward to trying this one out, and as long as its actually what it was sold to me as (solomatic), will at least provide a bit of medicine.

Day 53 Growing really well, albeit small. Stickiest strain i've grown so far. Buds are developing nicely, some interesting shapes though lol. I've changed the lighting schedule to 20/4 instead of 24. No real reason other than to save a few dollars on power i guess, and to lengthen the bulbs life. Did some defoliating to try and get more light to the lower buds, ones i'd usually not worry about but because its so small im trying to get as much as possible. This strain can definitely drink a lot of nutrients. Excited to see what she looks at in 2 weeks.

Day 58 Pretty impressed with how quickly shes maturing. I reckon she'll be done at day 65, trichomes are white, still some clear ones though so not quite ready. looking and smelling great. Keep forgetting that i need to flush, might do that tomorrow. Most of it will be used for edibles though so smoke taste isn't a big deal. Took a small sample, quick drying it at the moment so i can have a taste in a couple days, fingers crossed its actually solomatic!

Harvested at around 65-70 days, cant quite remember. Buds were very solid. Probably my best results so far, even if the yield was small (around 20gram dry) but from what i've seen most CBD (especially autos) strains aren't very big yielders. First time smoking CBD too, or at least a CBD dominant strain.. i like it, makes me feel relaxed and relieves pain well, without getting high (still a bit of a buzz, mostly in my eyes, nothing that would prevent me from going about my day though). I'll be using most of it to make cbd capsules from. Keen to grow again (without aggressive training) Pot was too small, with recycled soil, beginnings of root rot (as you can see in the photo) - glad i harvested when i did

@VertiGrow, thanks :) im not overly thrilled with this one but its always gonna be a gamble growing autos i guess. I use a 100mm Centrifugal fan and 500mm carbon filter for air extraction and a 4" oscillating fan for air movement. the centrifugal fan has a speed controller which i keep at around half to 3/4 to achieve 45-50% humidity. to be honest, the fan is too strong for my tent, which could be why its easy for me. Could be tent location too (in a garage). Probably going to upgrade to a different fan, not a stronger one but a silent one, which is actually a bit weaker than my current one. My set up is way too loud though, even using a silencer and insulated piping. this is the extractor/centrifugal fan i use - https://herbals.co.nz/collections/hydroponic-fans-tents-other-gear/products/100mm-high-flow-centrifugal-fan ill be sure to check out your grows :)
