The seeds were cleaned with a 1/20 dilution of h2o2 solution. All seeds were soaked in the h2o2 solution for 1 hour. Then they went to rockwool to germinate.
Look how the Gorilla Glue (GG) is already taller than the Power Plant (PP). Remembering that the GG started 3 days after the PP. I still don't know if the problem is the PP seed batch or the way it was stored by the local distributor.
I just changed the light schedule. Until today they were on 24 and now they will be on 18/6.
They were suffering from 3 conditions.
Temp and humidity: The temps are way to high even at night, I put a ventilator inside to help and raised the humidity by not removing the runoff.
Light: The light was too close and too intense to the seedlings, I raised it lowering the PPFD to 160.
Nutrients: I was supposed to feed them at the very first watering but I didn't. Today I started feeding them and they seem to love it. I could spot the difference in the leave color after a few hours.
This week they started to take off. Even the power plant being too small and presenting deformation in the first pair of leaves, she is keeping up with nodes.
The PPFD was 160 and they seem to love it.
I can see a spot in a few leaves, I will look into it today.
I had a problem with mold growing on the rock wool walls of the Gorilla Glue. I believe it did not affect the rock wool itself or the plant.
Either way, I removed the walls, changed the support completely and sprayed a solution of h2o2 all over the 4 rock wools.
From now the plants will start receiving 350 PPFD and 700 PPM of nutrients.
This week I could see the spots I mentioned before getting worse. After some thought I came to conclusion that they are hungry, so today I raised the PPM to 1200. I came to this conclusion because the overall color of the leaves are light green and the first leaves to suffer were the bottom ones.
I was afraid that the wall removal from the rock wool would limit the roots from growing so I decided to transplant them onto the coco. This is the final pot, I promise the next grow I will do more transplants.
The PPFD was around 220.
I changed the lights from 70w to 200w. 200w is half of the quantum board on.
This was a sad week. I raised the PPM too much and burned a few leaves. After noticing the burn I lowered the PPM back to 800-900. The 1000PPM is an average of the week.
I started LST but it did not work out because the stems were too thin. But now I think they can handle it.
The PPFD was close to 400 and I kept the lights on 24h to help them recover from snapping after I tried LST.
For the next week I'll keep the feeding on 840PPM and the lights 360PPFD 18h on.
After weeks of struggling I did finally find out what was the problem with my girls. Their roots were not well developed due to the rock wool wall removal and the early transplant to the final pot.
For this reason I bought the Rapidstart by General Hydroponics to boost the roots and I worked out pretty good.
I also stopped the high fertigation to stimulate the root growth. Yes, I realize now that high fertigation is suited when the plants have a good root system.
Anyway, they are thriving now.
Everything is good this week.
I keep tying down the main branch and I keep removing the unhealthy leaves as the plant grows.
I will use RapidStart until early flowering. Really loving it.
The PPFD was 450.
Something is wrong. I don't yet but I'm looking for help.
This week I found out that I was supposed to be changing the PH in the range 5.5 to 6.2. Maybe this can be the cause for some nutrient deficiency? I was feeding 5.8 constantly.
Anyway, 454 PPFD this week. More LST and a little defoliation to expose lower nodes.
This week I found out that my PH meter is .6 off. This explains a lot the nutrients deficiency they are having.
I lowered the PPM because it was way too high.
Oh yes, they are backing of their feet. This week everything gone well.
I did a huge defoliation on 24/09/2022 and I left them 24h with lights on to help them recover from it.
Today, 25/09/2022 I flipped the lights to 12/12 and started to feed them blooming nutrients.
No techniques this week, just recovering from the huge defoliation and awaiting for the stretch so I can put on the SCROG net.
They are doing incredible. Can't wait to see they flowering.
Another excellent week without any techniques. They are stretching like crazy.
Today I put on a SCROG net trying to even the canopy. Lets hope they respond well.
This week I did not have enough time for the high fertigation. This is way the top of the coco is dry. I hope this don't hurt my girls.
One of the rainbows is flowering fast, the other one is already producing flowers.
It appears that the Gorilla Glue is finally stopping to stretch. She is big. I'm trying to even the canopy with the SCROG net. I have to bend her hard.
The Power Plant is not producing flower yet, maybe she is at the end of the stretch. I can't tell exactly because she is a dwarf.
