I like to germinate in a root riot plug nestled in a shot glass. I have had success with this method, and it’s still easy to “transplant” it straight to its forever home.
Ok a week after popping the seeds, we have a 100% germination rate. I am still getting used to grow diaries and only having the one post per week to update. The platform is very detailed and fun though.
At this stage we see very big change daily. It’s also a fragile as the seedlings are susceptible to a lot too. New extreme temperatures, weather, bugs (caterpillars are crazy right now). Gotta keep a close eye, without messing with them constantly.
It’s been a rough week for the seedlings. We have had lots of humidity and lost a two of them to what I think was dampening off disease. After the first fell over, I popped a new seed directly in the soil outside so we don’t have to worry about hardening them off. These will be tracked separately since they started later now.
The orange sherbet is holding on though. She’s got a battle wound from a tiny caterpillar, and needed a brace since she’s so stretchy… but she’s hanging in there!
I am hoping we are almost out of that super fragile seedling stage 😅
I have been using the humidity dome at night and in the rain for protection. I did find a tiny caterpillar on her and picked it off (you can see some minor damage to the leaf)
This is the original Orange Sherbet that got planted and is holding up great in these outdoor conditions!
We have moved out of the super fragile seedling stage and are starting to get some vigorous growth. Still gotta watch things very closely for caterpillars and other pests that can cause damage and issues.
She’s strong and ready to show us what she can do though… stay tuned, this is where things start getting good!
We got a lot of sun this week, and she soaked it up! A nice growth spurt to show for it too. I added some barley straw as a mulch to help with water retention. At the start of the week I watered with silica for plant strength. Finishing up the week she got some recharge & king crab. I try to be diverse with my microbes to keep her happy.
We made it through veg and the pistols are coming in like crazy. Also seeing a lot of that auto flower vigor as she transitioned. She’s been a trooper throughout this outdoor run. I can’t wait to grow this one in the tent and see how she shines in a controlled environment!
Buds are looking good as they develop… I did pull 3 fat caterpillars off of her today 😢 big green suckers that blended in really well. Later in the day some leaves were turning brown in a couple areas as well… almost looked like bud rot, but not in the buds. Gonna watch closely and will cut areas if needed.
Overall she’s looking good. We have got a bit of damage from caterpillars 😡if you look closely you can spot a couple that got found this week. I tried to pick off as little bud as possible that was damaged, but may need to remove a little more. Plan to treat with another spray of BT tonight. She’s gonna get a good bud wash come harvest too! I don’t blame the little things… she smells great!
Looks like we might lose a a bit of the Orange Sherbet to the caterpillar damage/bud rot. I will treat her with some doctor zymes to help stop the spread, but will have to watch things closely. Gonna hold off as long as I can without jeopardizing the harvest to more rot, but also don’t want to be too premature to get some quality buds.
The caterpillars went for this one over the Forbidden Runtz, I am not sure why but she definitely got hit harder. Overall she was very easy to grow, didnt require much and went through hot humid days early in the grow.
I did have to take the main cola off due to caterpillar damage/rot. I also didn't weigh it wet, I looked at the total weight after it was cut, dried, and trimmed. I am looking forward to smoking this.
I also planted this same strain in an indoor grow that was just started - be sure to check out and follow that grow as well!
@STICKY67, you couldn’t be more right. It’s a relaxing, and peaceful process (for the most part). Knowing what went into creating that end product is priceless too.
Hello, friend. I'm looking at your Orange Sherbet Auto. She looks beautiful 😍 - I'm growing her now too 💚 Mine is about 2 weeks until harvest. Enjoy growing 🌾👩🌾👩🌾
Has amazing Frost pal. Sorry about the bugs. I read something really good on ripeness. And she looks really well. Around 30% amber trichs and harvest it. There's so much frost on that. But if you want a couch lock and a harder smoke then leave. Something along them lines. Anyways, hope you can hold the pests off until you are ready to bring to harvest. Enjoy.
@ruind_greenery good call to wait another week if you can, she looks like she's about to bulk up now..bud rot and mold are a growers nightmare, try to keep her as dry as possible, even stick a fan on her to give some more air movement if you can, anything to save buds ☮️peace love and lotsa buds mate☮️👍
