This grow contains 4 Pineapple Expresses, 3 White Widows, 3 Gorilla Glues, and 3 Alaskan Thunderfucks, spread out across 10 different pots outdoors (3 of the pots have 2 plants each, as an experiment).
Listed by pot: (1) 7-gallon fabric pot with two Pineapple Express Autos, (2) 7-gallon fabric pot with two White Widow Autos, (3) 7-gallon fabric pot with two Gorilla Glue Autos, (4+5) two 5-gallon fabric pots of Pineapple Express auto, (6) 5-gallon fabric pot of White Widow, (7) 5-gallon fabric pot of Alaskan Thunderfuck, (8) 5-gallon fabric pot of Gorilla Glue, (9) 3-gallon fabric pot of Alaskan Thunderfuck, and lastly (10) 3-gallon plastic pot of Alaskan Thunderfuck.
The general plan for the grow is to have 1 of each plant in its own 5 gallon pot left alone (i.e. no training). The other plants will have varying degrees of training, from light LST, to more intense LST, and one was topped. They also have access to different volumes of mediums, where one has its own 3-gallon pot, a few are splitting a 7-gallon 50/50, and the rest have a full 5-gallons to themselves. Check out my Mephisto's Wedding journal to see me test out a 1-gallon plastic pot.
When I ended up topping the larger of the two White Widows that are planted in the 7-gallon, it resulted in more tops competing to be dominant, but there aren't any tops that are as vigorous and dense as the main cola on its non-topped sibling. I will not be topping any autos anymore, unless I'm given a new reason to try.
The pictures for this week were all taken on Aug 11. Some plants are flowering, others are not.
Pot 1: PE # 1 and #2. Plant 1 is looking pretty big and healthy. Plant 2 is way behind but starting to flower now. I've considered culling but will continue the grow as an experiment - maybe she'll surprise me.
Pot 2: PE #3. Nothing special, doing some mild LST but this plant wasnt growing super fast. Entering flower.
Pot 3: WW #1 and #2. Plant 1 is stacking a single chunky cola with limited offshots. Plant 2 was a much more vigorous grower, and was topped once, so she has more side colas, but no large dominant stack. I will not top again after doing this experiment.
Pot 4: GG # 1 and #2. Plant 1 is a slow grower, entering flower now. Plant 2 was stunted and less than 3 inches tall, so was culled yesterday (Aug 10).
Pot 5: AT #1. Slow grower, not yet entering flower.
Pot 6: AT #2. Slow grower, not yet entering flower. This one is in a 3 gallon plastic pot, and its strain sister (AT #1) is in the same-sized fabric pot. Just a mini experiment to confirm that fabric pots are a good choice. Plastic is more reusable than the fabric, so if theres no strong reason to use fabric I would probably switch to plastic pots when these current fabrics wear out.
Pots 7-10: PE #4, WW #3, GG #3, AT #3. I have one of each strain growing "au naturale" in its own 5-gallon pot - i.e. I will not be doing any training on these plants as a control.
No feedings yet, plants are relying on the soil mix. Some plants are beginning to look hungry, so will incorporate liquid nutes into their next watering in a couple days. We had a big rain and all the pots are pretty saturated still.
Photos for this week were taken on August 24 at noon.
Pot 1: PE # 1 and #2. The larger of the two plants has had a single branch pollinated by a Sunshine Pine Male. The smaller plant has began flower this week.
Pot 2: PE #3. Smallest plant, but perhaps the most mature. Super sticky plant when you touch it, and really frosty already. Different leaf structure than any other plant in the lineup - almost looks like Bok Choi leaves, idk?
Pot 3: WW #1 and #2. Both plants have had a single branch pollinated by a Sunshine Pine Male. Still upset that I topped WW #1 during veg, I cant help but think of the plant it would've been - it's one of the larger plant as-is.
Pot 4: GG # 1 and #2. Still waiting a week or so before pollinating a branch. This girl has been a little bit of a sleeper, grew slower than all of the other plants but just quietly kept growing. Began flowering last week, probably the largest plant so far at this maturity. Excited to see what she becomes.
Pot 5: AT #1. Missed taking pictures of this one. It looks like Pot 6, but slightly shorter and with better branching. Actually brought this girl indoor after taking these photos to spend a few days with the male Sunshine Pine - I'm pollinating the full plant, so if you see this and you're in Canada, hmu if you want to enter a giveaway :) it depends on how many seeds I get, but I'm planning to give 5-packs to as many people as possible, to share the love and to test out these genetics.
Pot 6: AT #2. Tall plant with pretty much no branching but otherwise seems really healthy. Entered flower last week.
Pot 7: AT #3. Biggest of the four untrained plants. Entered flower last week.
Pot 8: PE #4. Showing signs of hunger. Will feed thoroughly tomorrow but its been raining and I feed liquid nutes. Entered flower last week.
Pot 9: WW #3. Showing signs of hunger. Will feed thoroughly tomorrow but its been raining and I feed liquid nutes. Entered flower last week.
Pot 10: GG #3. Smallest of the four untrained plants. Entered flower this week.
