First time growing cannabis not knowing what to expect. I put one seed out of the five I ordered, and it germinated successfully! Great to see it is going good right off the bat.
40% light intensity. Sowed directly in fabric pot in tent.
It is really starting to come along and looking beautiful! I noticed my plant got nutrient burn, so I cut back on the nutrient water from last week and am giving it PH balanced water for this week. I am taking smaler branches and moving them towards the middle of the tent and moving bigger branches more outward.
Starting out week 8 (entire grow thus far). I removed the net since over the last week or two I had moved smaller branches to the middle and realized the plant was getting a bit tangled up in itself. I defoliated the plant and let the branches hang naturally, aside from the main stem. Since the main stem has been bending since LST, I decided to keep it tied down so the other branches continue to grow as evenly as possible. Also, it is smellier this week. After watering I can smell it in the hallway of my house. It has a woody, fruity, sour, and dank smell.
EDIT: Nutrient burn is from excess Nitrogen
Last week I mentioned, I noticed that some of the plant's leaves from the Main COLAs are turning yellow. I am trying to correct the problem if there is one, but I am not going to over-correct. It is possible that it is due to my plant is also getting near harvest, since this strain says it can be harvested as early as day 70-75 from seed. I am trying to go for a total of 84 days before harvest, but I will harvest earlier if need be.
I noticed 1 main COLA and a few side COLAs were starting to get too heavy for the branches, so I decided to use the net as support from this point forward. Positioning the heavy COLA's made it to where I had to defoliate more of the plant for airflow.
OOPS. I accidentally snipped one of the side COLA's. Its whatever though. There are about 8 main COLA's on this plant, and at least 10 more side COLA's comparable to what I snipped. I will dry it, and see if it is salvageable.
My plant has a ton of resin now. When I handled the plant to get it positioned within the net, my hands got so incredibly sticky. I used apple cider vinegar to wash my hands.
Approaching day 70 of the white widow max auto grow! For the record, I am going with the recommended "84 and out the door" with this lady, so just a little over two weeks left.
I have noticed several things since last week.
- A lot of leaves are starting to die off. I only trim off the leaves that start to turn brown.
- One of the COLA's has purple leaves. None of the others have purple leaves, so that is interesting.
- The smell is starting to resemble a dispensary. It smelled good before, but I didn't have that thought cross my mind until this week.
- The trichomes are starting to look more milky instead of mostly clear.
Regarding the COLA I accidentally snipped last week. I dried it, and tried it. It gave me an energetic and major headstone high. I did not notice any odd tastes (I have heard people flush their plants in the last 1-2 weeks to avoid their cannabis tasting off, but I didn't notice anything)
If I flush, I will likely only do it for a week.
Almost harvest time! One more week to go! I switched my light schedule from 20/4 to 18/6 for the last week.
Leaves continue to die off and turn yellow.
The buds are getting fatter.
I am starting to see amber in the trichomes.
I trimmed off the lower twig-like branches which contain popcorn nugs.
I am going to feed her PH balanced water for the last week.
See you all harvest time next week!
Ever since I first encountered this strain when I was younger, I knew it would be the first strain I wanted to grow when I had the opportunity. This was such a smooth and great experience for a first time grow. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking to grow the White Widow strain. I purchased the seeds when they were on sale, so it was a win-win. I went with the recommendation I have heard with autoflower strains "84 and out the door".
