Free gift from Mephisto Genetics: [Forgotten Looks x Forum Stomper] x [Forum Stomper x SamSquatch]. Calling this MG#1 for reference Here we go! First attempt at growing cannabis. Opted for shotglass of water method for germination. Using plastic domes and very little tap water to moisten the soil around the seed. All seeds germinated! My nutrition list above is weird, I don't think it's correct. Here are my details Number of plants/pots: 5 Gallons per pot: 7 Total gallons soil: 35 Total cubic feet of soil: 4.7 TBSP Earth Dust Base per gallon: 5 Total TBSP Base: 175 Total Cups Base: 10.9 Worm castings (25%): 43.8 TBSP = 2.7 cups Gaia green 4-4-4 all purpose 3TBSP/gal : 32.8 TBSP = 2.1 cups Gaia green 2-8-4 bloom 3TBSP/gal:: 32.8 TBSP = 2.1 cups

03-JUL Planted seeds after germinating in water for ~30hrs 04-JUL 0900 Soil around seeds is still moist. A/C is on and temp @79, at 10AM closer to 76, 53%RH. Lights are set to 40% of max (~200W) Soil pH is low, 5.4-5.7 1130 Watered & moistened the top of all pots. They seemed mostly dry. I need bigger pot drainage dishes, these don't fit the pots sufficiently. 1950 watered around the sides, dirt looked dry 05-JUL 1256 Saw first shoot pop up, MG#1 06-JUL 0750 All 5 plants have germinated and sprouted! Removed all plastic domes, watered entire pots 77F, 58% 07-JUL 0655 Raised light to be about 30" from soil. Watered only around seedlings 78F, 58% 1400 Made more water, pH 6.6-7 08-JUL 0700 Watered around seedling. Growths look consistent. 76F, 56%

10-JUL 0750 76F, 54% Watered Rear left fan rotation broke somehow. Will replace later dotay 11-JUL 1020 76F, 51% Watered and saw 5 or so small flies. Will need to get traps! 13-JUL Watered fully and watered the base in dish as well. Made 5 gal water pH 6.7-8. Raised the fans, the force of the wind seemed to be too strong for the plants. 14-JUL Leaving for a trip, back on the 24th. Friend watered in my absence but I didn't give much other info or instruction as I wasn't sure what they should be looking. They watered and the plants looked great when I got home.

24-JUL It's good to be back! Doused each pot heavily and filled their basins 25-JUL 1531 73F, 62% First attempt at LST with wires. These are hard to use, I need to get thicker, rubber coated ones. 1 wire per plant, to main stem 2230 Wow I'm an idiot. I had the rubber cap on the AC Infinity probe. IDIOT! I set up parameters for the fan and have disconnected the A/C for now. Redid and tightened some of the LST wires. 26-JUL 1800 Some fixing of the AC Infinity probe, I see Temp and RH fluctuate between 75F/63% and 68F/45%. Can't stabilize very easily with direct A/C. Gonna try cooling the room instead. Removed A/C entirely and left output hose in room, drawing curtain. Chanted pot layout to accommodate a dehumidifier Lowered fans and turned light setup 90degrees to better cover pots. 27-JUL 0700 Turned off A/C completed and removed venting from tent. Going to use ambient weather and dehumidifier once that arrives, if needed 1015 76F, 52% 1345 76F, 53% Made 8 gallons of ph 6.5-7 water Lightly watered only the top later of each pot 1620 81F, 47% Redid LST with thicker wire Trimmed off cotyledon leaves still present Replaced yellow sticky tape traps Raised light wattage to 400W (max) and set to be 24" from highest canopy 1730 80-82F alarm is going off. Increased fans to max setting, routed A/C back in, ugh. 2200 Took A/C out. I don't want to keep using this. 28-JUL 0830 Average temp from 2200 to 0830: 76.3, max 82.6 Average RH from 2200 to 0830: 48.8%, 58%-38% range Unzipped tent partially. Watered the base dish. Soil was moist 0.5" under top layer. 0930 77F, 45% Added another fan, hooked up A/C, closed tent and added humidifier! 2200 Turned light down to 60% for tomorrow and raised by 8". Leaves look damaged! 29-JUL 2155 Watered 2300 Overall, today was much better for getting to and maintaining target VPD values Early Veg: 0.4-0.8 kPa Late Veg / Early Flower: 0.8 - 1.2 Mid/late Flower: 1.2-1.60 0.4>DANGER>1.6

Starting my first diary here on this site, will bring in my notebook notes and retroactively update the diary, we'll see. Ended week 5 of veg after learning a ton. Have been maintaining a solid 0.9-1.1 kPa range for VPD, still have some spikes with low temps at night and the humidifier running out of water. Journal entries 30-JUL 1250 Removed A/C feeding tube and turned it off. Home is usually at 71-73F. Placed dehumidifier in tent but am NOT running it yet. Waiting for temp/RH to stabilize 1308 Raised humidity slightly, was at 1.2kPa 1324 Looks to be levelling out at 1.0kPa 1630 Lowered lights to about 25" above the tallest stem 31-JUL Raised light to 80% intensity Soil is still a bit moist Kept tweaking humidifier settings 01-AUG 0800 Thorough watering, didn't see flowthrough but the pots were soaked 02-AUG 0930 76.4F, 68.2%, 0.97 Reduced light to 70% 03-AUG 0805 Redid LST 2100 76.2, 64.6%, 1.07 Watered again, to soak the top layer 04-AUG Still tweaking humidity to target 1.0kPa Plants look good, some lightburn from last week present but they seem to be happier 05-AUG Looks like autos are starting to flower! Will feed and water tomorrow Redid some LST but will do more tomorrow

Fed with the above amendments and watered thoroughly but tried not to drench too badly. Redid LST and spread the branches out as much as I reasonably could. Moved the pot to the far right corner to try to give the other AUTOs a chance for better light.

13-AUG 1845: Retrained all plants and adjusted canooy to be as level as possible. Watered all plants heavily, most were pretty dry. Raised light as high as possible and turned it to max output (440 W). 2047: averaging 79F, 57%, 1.4kPa 16-AUG She's the tallest of all my plants, even considering LST. Saw some orange hairs manifest!

Grow Questions

Hongostarted grow question 2 years ago
Please look at the leaves shown, orange and dried parts. I asked a similar question earlier but these look more damaged and I'm wondering if it's worsened due to my setup. Wind damage from fans? Water damage from humidifier? Light or heat damage? Managing VPD is tough. Thanks!

I'm going to disagree with my growmie here - simply because phosphorus deficiencies start on the oldest leaves and move upward - and I don't think this is the way it's progressed on your plant? I saw your question a couple of days ago and I honestly did not see anything wrong... but NOW, with THESE photos, I can clearly see that there IS an issue. First, let me tell what it's NOT... it's NOT wind damage or water damage or light or heat damage... but I'm not sure it's got something to do with your nutes, either. I'm wondering if it's some kind of fungus... so I'm going to ask - if you rub those spots, does it smear or come off on your finger? Or is it dry/brittle to the touch? If it smears or comes off on your fingers, it's going to be a fungus... if it's dry or brittle at all, it will indeed be a nute problem and probably a calcium/magnesium deficiency although that would show a yellowing to the leaves as well. A fungus will be the worst diagnosis... it comes from humid conditions and can only be solved by using a fungicide... in the case of SOME fungi, you would probably have to pitch the plant and thoroughly clean the entire tent but you should do research to try to identify exactly WHAT fungus it is..... I literally have no idea. If it is a calcium/magnesium issue, just adding cal/mag to your nute program should help if you're not already supplying it. Good luck... and don't hesitate to come back if you try something and it STILL doesn't work... we're here to try our best to help!
