This is my first grow and I am absolutely pumped about it. I will be starting out with 3 GG4 clones in soil under a 40w led strip light the first 4 day. After the clones have a few days to acclimate to the soil I will be moving them under a dimmed HLG 600r in a 4x4 tent. No nutrients the first couple weeks as I used fox farms ocean forest for soil which I understand should provide plenty of fertilizer during that time.
So far so good other than a slight hickup from overwatering the plants. The leaves were looking almost like there was some sort of deficiency but they were just water logged. Everything is fine now that the soil is almost dried out. There is literally no sign the issue ever existed.
These things are taking OFF! I have topped each plant 2 times so far and have been turning the light up a little each day. It's amazing how healthy these girls are looking, and they already have a good stench to them lol. I think I am going to transfer them to 5 or 7 gallon smart pots on sunday and top them again. I'd like to wait for them to establish a very solid root structure (after transplanting) before switching to 12/12 so I can get maximum yield when I crank the 600r up and bathe them in co2.
Please leave a comment. I am always open to suggestions if there is something that could be done differently.
This week I learned that you can not properly ph ro/di water with a blue lab ph meter. When I decided to ph my tap water which I have not been adjusting before using it tested at 7.9! That quickly explained why my plant has been showing signs of deficiencies even while using the full line of cutting edge solutions nutrients. To fix the problem I transplanted the plants from their 2 gallon smart pots to 7gallons (which needed done anyways) using 1 part ocean forest and 2 part happy frog. I will be going without nutrients for the next week or 2 and using properly ph'd water from now on lol. The plants look like they are recovering well after just 1 day in the new pots.
Amazingly these plants have had excellent growth even with the nutrient lock. Almost time to switch them over to 12/12 after they fully recover from this hick up!
Late update. The plants are still recovering a tiny bit from the nutrient lockout as of 8/30. I'm on the 2nd feeding of Cutting Edge Solutions nutrients and the leaves are darkening up and looking much better! Plants will be flipped to 12/12 as soon as I am confident they have fully recovered from nutrient lockout.
Also sorry for the horrible picture quality. I'm not sure what happened there but I can't go back in time and retake them lol.
These things are getting gnarly after just 3 days of flowering! I kiiiinda wish I went about 2 weeks shorter on the veg time. I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be a little more serious grow than I was expecting lol. I've always loved seeing pics of peoples plants during the stretch phase when the leaves turn that light green from growing so fast. Now I'm experiencing it and it's a beautiful sight!
At this point I have switched over to half strength flowering nutrients (CES) and half strength veg nutrients (CES) to help it through its 2 weekish stretch phase. Also I don't seem to be getting any negative reaction to the uva bar which is good.
It makes me happy seeing the progress on these ladies after having such a big issue with nutrient lockout in the beginning. Glad the forums were here to point me in the right direction.
9 days into flower and I couldn't be happier. Everything seems to be doing great and what used to just look like a couple little hairs are turning into bud sites! I have switched over to the full flowering feeding schedule with the addition of a little extra ces grow (nitrogen and potassium) to help it along during the stretch phase. I started counting the bud sites today and lost count. I'm guessing around 40-50 tops lmao. Come day 21 of 12/12 I am going to defoliate a decent amount but nothing crazy. I want enough fan leaves to suck up the light. I also figure if I crank the 600r up it should penetrate pretty well to some of the lower bud sites.
Gettin chunky. Not much to report on. Still feeding full strength cutting edge solutions nutrients with 600r cranked to about 80%. Watering/Feeding every 2 days.
@MackMcMacMack, Thank you and I think you're right lol. This strain smells great already and I haven't even switched to 12/12 yet. Can't wait for the results.
