starting to show deficiencies on largest fan leaves so have watered with ph tested tap water to add some calcium, magnesium etc and the "burnt tips" havent spread since.
-update: buds have started to show considerable growth in only a couple of days! trichomes are forming everywhere and the tips are swelling with potency. Still haven't given the plant any nutrients or floral boosters whatsoever! Wow this is a hearty strain
Just now entering week 6 of when the seed first sprouted, considerable more width and trichome development yet the plant has slowed down on height growth, smell has intensified by a large margin, am considering adding a very weak introduction of some organic fertilizers into the next feed to avoid any nutrient lack stress that may cause it to hermaphrodite, in saying that i have grown this plant up until this point with literally a $5 bag of soil and tap/RO water, alot of people seem to say this strain is sensitive to nutrients but this isnt necessarily a bad thing as it has sought all the nutrients it needs from standard potting mix. so in terms of return on invenstment this is the most economically viable strain I have ever grown in my life, although it is still hard to say until harvest and post dry/cure as to how the quality of buds will compare considering the substrate used, but by smell and size id say its going to be delicious
- buds are thickening up nicely with every day and fast trichome formation has begun on the lowest buds, smell is intensifying by the day
Trichomes are continuing to form as buds fatten and frost up, plant still remains squat but unsure if thats due to dominant phenotype or the fact i only used potting mix up until the past few weeks so yeild isnt expected to be extravagant but bud quality seems like it will be amazing, smell is very fragrant, a sweet citrus with an earthy hint of cookies, can only wait and see what the next few weeks have in store but am more than happy nonetheless :)
I noticed towards the end of week 7 that slight flecks of purple had started to appear on the fan leaves, I assumed it was a P deficiency due to a life with only one feeding of nutes to "top up" the potting mixs stock nutrients shes been relying on her whole life (I have begun the slow fush process I plan on doing to try remove as much from the potting mix as possible), just incase it wasnt a P def though and a case of genetics, I dropped the night period temp below 10 degrees centigrade (50f) whilst maintaining 40% RH. The purple has not only begun to flourish on the fan leaves but the calayxs on the tips of the flowering sites have also begun to vibrantly colour! What a beautiful phenome this is! The plant itself hasnt grown much height on the main cola, compared to the 4 side colas, but has considerably filled out and connected the 2 gaps that were exposing stem thus connecting the bottom cluster of flowering sites to the top cola.
Its now a week and a half into the flushing process and I have gotten my run off to the clarity and EC of my tap water so will begin a staggered harvest this week. The smell off of the plant has shifted from a slightly sour earthy smell to the sweetest pineapple you can imagine, absolutely mouth watering! The purpling to the calyxs has continued to spread though has slowed down in its rate of discoloration although the plant looks beautiful.
I dont expect much of a yeild as this was an experiment from the beginning but the quality seems like it will be extremely promising.
Grew amazingly seeing as I just popped the seed in some potting mix and gave it nutrients once, the plant itself was short but the bud density is amazing as is the smell.
The plant performed far better than I could ever have anticipated considering the soil I used, the smoke was smooth and flavorsome so can only imagine what it will taste like a few months into curing.
Hey bro, nice grow you have here. A few small tweaks can be the difference between 1 oz per plant and 3-4 - but it depends on how much effort you can put into it.
Firstly, you’re using a 400w LED. These can be left on for 24 hours for the first 2 weeks. Just on Blue spectrum. Make sure you add CalMag and some quarter strength salt based nutes from day zero. Be careful not to have your lights too close in the first week.
After 2 weeks, turn on the bloom spec also and switch to 20/4 for a 2 weeks. Feed full strength nutes and CalMag. Get your light close and get as much out of your veg period as possible.
Change to 18/6 and keep full feeding with full NPKs, micro and trace elements - this will give you those full range of smells and flavours; and make it frostier. Cut away the extra nitrogen after week 5-6 and make sure when you feed, you fully saturate the pot and have at least some run off.
Also, I’ve found you get better growth if you mix a good sifted bag soil with 30-40% Coco coir and 10-20% vermiculite and perlite. This will give your roots constant oxygen and retain moisture without your soil getting boggy and anaerobic.
Sorry if I’m telling you how to suck eggs. But I get excited about growing weed lol.
My Pineapple Express smelt like Dettol disinfectant when it was a few weeks out, then once it was harvested and cured, has a real sweet pineapple chocolate smell with a hint of dettol.
Super chilled happy smoke. My new one is in day 28.
Good luck bro, I’m looking forward to seeing how the buds turn out.
Hey bro, nice grow. I’ve done a few of these ones and they are a pretty good strain. Only bit of advice I could give would be to feed your autos from the day their second leaves shows.
And if you’re using LEDs, hit them with a full dose of CalMag every watering. You also really need to cut the A’s away about 2 weeks into flower and just rely on the small amount of N in the CalMag and Bs. If not, your calexes will start to re-vege towards the end of flower and you end up with bananas popping out all over your buds with new white pistols.
If you want frost? Use probiotics and an unsulphured molasses - add to that your organic feed like sea weed extract for PKs and a good organic fertilise fornyour soil (chook shit). This helps your plants immune system, which ultimately means stronger smells and larger, stickier and more trichomes.
Trichomes are the plants defence system and the plants need a large cache of organic nutes to express their true nature, which is always results in a much better high than salt based nutes alone.
Cheers man, It was an experiment from day dot and im happy with how its going thus far, seeing as its still an experiment somewhat im going to drop night temps below 10 degrees to see what different colour pigments i can get from this particular phenome, hopefully something really pretty
Looks really healthy up until 2nd week of flowering as you said, i cant beleive just soil got you that far, smart move introducijg the nutes slowly instead of full dosing aswell, wouldve probabaly fried her if you did, good job
