Three weeks in, enthusiasm high. Tweaking light between 50-75%, worried about a little possible light burn. The white speckles on lower leaves are from a DE foliar spray, used as a preventative when I noticed mites in my outdoor garden. Giving her maybe a half cup ro water every 3-4 days so far.
Dramatic week watching the growth unfold, learning her needs. Still in her MG seed starter soil- this week had a bit of a financial whoopsfuck so she'll be going into her forever pot and soil next week. Keeping her rolling for now with a little FF Grow Big at quarter strength in RO water.
More than an inch of growth this week. Smell coming up faint but definitely there - leaves smell like orange rind. Noticed roots poking out of the drainage holes in her seedling pot, so transplanted her into slightly larger pot with a little basic MG. Giving her slightly-weaker-than-half-strength FF Grow Big every other water. Will have her permanent soil ordered this week - flipping a coin between Purple Cow Indicanja and Coast of Maine Stonington.
Purple/red stems and petioles on upper growth, mimosa x orange punch. I think the plant looks otherwise healthy, lots of growth. Genetic expression or cal/mag deficiency?
Some strains will have purple stems - I don't know about this particular one but if the plant looks/acts healthy otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't see any evidence of a deficiency so I don't think you have anything to worry about!
Good luck!
Spent the week fighting root binding - the delivery was to be late and roots were coming out of the new pots drainage holes and leaves were getting twisted within days. My indicanja showed up and got her resituated asap. She's bouncing back pretty enthusiastically. Tied off the three tops with a little cotton twine, lots of slack. Still debating on when/if to 2nd top.
Ditched that twine nonsense and installed adjustable soft scrog. Topped the three main tips that resulted from the FIM, then topped the two largest side tips. Some light cleanup to bottom foliage - keeping bottom two stems just for now b/c I'd like to try my hand at cloning tomorrow or so. Started weekly treatment with PureCrop1 for ipm.
Actually went 12/12 on day 51, but counting this week as vegetative. Still watering with pure RO, letting the indicanja do its job. Color deepening and becoming more uniform. Noticeable stretch daily, preflower showing by day 55.
Flip fun! The stretch is real, and serious. Pistils came up fast - feels like everything's on overdrive but I'm a timid newbie feeling out each step. She got thick around the bottom so I cleared out what was below the net and a few key leaves above. Filled her pot the rest of the way with her last gal of indicanja... we'll see how she goes, but I'm kinda planning a couple of weeks just ro, then mmmmaybe some bloom nutes/cal mag. Gotta get my light attached to the top of my tent frame for room, as soon as her light's on and I'm not lazy simultaneously.
Pushing bloom nutes and calmag every other water, might start adding in a little grow big as I've noticed just a few brown spots on two leaves. Flowers are becoming, well, flowerier every day. Light defol, raised scrog, and raised light to maximum height.
Bangin' week, watching her push out more every day. Currently doing RO Mondays, half dose tiger bloom Wednesdays, half dose grow big Fridays. Purecrop1 at lights out every Saturday. Cutting back on that GB soon, I think. Really pleased with her chonkiness, hoping to get some nice fall colors in the next couple of weeks. And really rather impressed with this cheapie light for my 2x2x4 - FamursTF1200. Cost me less than $90.
Absolutely normal... pistils don't get burned, they get ripe. Time to start checking the trichs to see when you might expect to get sent to trim jail!
Good luck!
This baby has thus far surpassed my dreams for a first grow. Four weeks in from flip and she's absolutely infested with buds, trichs are coming in fast and the smell is like a tire fire in an orange grove. I'm easing back on the nitrogen as it seems to be her green is, I dunno if it's fading or darkening, but it's *different*ing.
Spending way too much time sitting in front of my tent, staring and thinking to myself, holy crap. I made a thing. I made THIS thing. Really think it might hit me in the feels when I take her down...a little.
Getting thicker and denser by the day, and I'm getting really excited to see if my girl is going to push out some of the same gorgeous colors I've seen in the other grows I watch. I'll be well satisfied with my planning if I'm dry trimming by Thanksgiving weekend.
Really starting to consider when I'll be chopping, hoping she'll be good to go in three more weeks. No real sign of the spectacular fade I was hoping for (yet), but I can't stop staring at those buds anyway. Starting to really consider that I'll be coming home from work in the near future and not fussing over her for an hour every day and that's kind of a bummer... but I'm sure I'll figure out a way to cheer myself up.
Rain and humidity hit my area pretty bad, but managing to keep it down around 60. Not perfectly ideal, but as I'd been treating her with a foliar antifungal in her ipm, I'm not very worried about mold. Checking trichs every day, I'd be thrilled to be harvesting next week but I'll give her as long as she needs. Her fade is creeping in, so I'm not giving up hope of some diva shots before she meets her maker's trim tub. Had a moment of weakness yesterday and took my smallest little bud. They weren't lying, it's a bit rough. But it definitely served the purpose, so I'm pretty pleased with that.
The countdown is on. Fade is more gratifying every single day, and she's getting so heavy I've hiked my net up another couple of inches and loosely wired a couple of branches up to the net. I didn't have any good gardening wire so I used saved twisty tie wires. Probably exactly the wrong thing for it but I don't reckon her stems are growing any more at all, so I'm satisfied with it for just another week or so. I'm rather expecting to chop around day 63..? Just watching those trichs, but also trying to line up a little tree-trimming party for the beneficiaries of my little verdant vestal voyage. One tree coming down, two trees going up (holiday tree decorating and the seed I'll start germing for my next go. Finances will decide if it will be trying an auto with Mephisto's Creme de la Chem, or if it'll be the freebie auto AK I got with this seed lol.), and extra hands to help these old eyes with the detail work and celebration. Very pleased to report that humidity is back on track, just in time for drying. Absolutely getting more of this strain. She's been a wonderful teacher and a fantastic friend, and I've tried to do my very best by her.
Somehow in the past week of work craziness my count got all messed up, she's at this moment on day 56 of flower, 107 from germ.
Just on trich watch now, and gazing at the fade she's putting off. I'd so hoped for some nice fall colors to cap off my maiden grow, and I've not been disappointed by a single aspect of this strain. In my amateur hubris, I really did think I'd be chopping by this week but I'm more than happy to give her the extra time to see what she can really do. Giving her only RO water since last week, and want to harvest when her soil is quite dry as I think I'll be leaving her roots intact for the dry.
Harvested at the end of day 65F. I'd intended to try and keep her roots on foot the harvest, but that proved unfeasible as they were too big, too deep, and I was too damned tired (fresh off a bad shift and tons to do tomorrow). So hub to the rescue with his pocket knife to show off how valid a purchase it was, and just for the satisfaction that his knife cut something as nifty as this haha. I didn't know what to do with the scrog net... so I just left it in place, and stretched it back out and hooked up after I flipped her. Well, not flipped. Flipped. Lol I'm giddy. Anyway, I figured airflow is still important, right? So I'll just cut the branches out in 10 days or so whenever she's dry and get my net back then.
This is without a doubt the coolest thing I have ever done just on my own steam, and I'm super stoked about such a gratifying start to what I'm certain will be a lifelong love and pursuit. I've gotten so much great advice and infinite patience from so many people in online communities, without which I could never have gotten to this point. I'm incredibly grateful. Good vibes, all. Wish me luck on the dry and cure!
This is my first experience but she was absolutely receptive to every change I made, no problems at all. I'm definitely wanting to see what I can do with this strain, with a little experience under my belt. I was really surprised at the pronounced shift in the odor in the last week, from creamy and sweet orange to ripe mandarin with a little grapefruit? Hard to explain but a delight.
Really wanted to leave the roots intact for the dry...I really don't know why, in retrospect. Something I read somewhere. My exhaustion level and the depth and breadth of her root ball ended up with her chopped, shouldered onto a clothes hanger by her branches, and hung up scrog and all. Refastened the scrog to keep her stretched out a bit for airflow, just seemed the most convenient way. Got my humidity between 50-60, temps between 65 and 72. Close enough, I figure! Followed my same philosophy for pruning while growing and went halfway with it - took the fans off from around the big colas, but left more around smaller areas that would dry faster. Or at least that sounded logical in my head. I've no way to weigh her right now, but I'm guessing maybe 3.5-4oz of nice bud with a decent amount of trim left for some cookies. I'll come back when I've got her dry and broken down/trimmed for curing, with actual numbers and pics of the bud.
Edit, day 6 of dry. Hooooly motherload. RH dipped down to 48 unnoticed for a bit, adjusted lung room humidifier (took a hot shower with the bathroom door open) and helped myself to my first grower's pick, vine dried breakfast of the champions from one of the smaller top (formerly known as bottom) buds. The green banana is gone. Sticky sweet orange, even the dry bits are resinous as hell. Still green, yes, but in the way of biting into an orange through the peel. A few snips of some leafy bits and she was burning happily in my bowl, zero effort to keep her lit. Heavy body high. Jacked my shoulder up bad last week at work, and I genuinely think I might get some decent sleep today. And a lot of problems are looking a lot less complicated. Quite uplifting, in a calming way. Feeling of contentment is immense. Flavor is noticeable orange, currently 50/50 with the green weed taste, and a little something herbally.
Day 7 of dry. 4.5 hours trimming, 6 pairs of gloves. An even qp of manicured(ish. I'm tired.) bud, along with 1.7 oz super sugary trim and larf for my next batch of cannabutter. I'm content beyond words, I can't believe this worked.
Beautiful fat colas on that girl 👍
Great first grow
Glad to see you are being patient so she is able to reach her full potential.
Keep up the good work
✌️😎💨
@Inganjawetrust, I really wasn't expecting them to get as chonky as they did - her biggest ones are starting to make her stems lean over even supported by the trellis. Just now learning about plant yoyos and silica supplementing, I'll be sure to have some on hand if I'm lucky enough to have this problem again.
@guerilla, I'm so excited! Been boycotting the market for many months now and this is the first pure and natural homegrown I'll have ever had. My relationship with this plant is completely reset, and I love it.
@Pure_Instinto_Seed_Bank, Thank you! I sure hope I win, everyone has been growing fire left right and center and all the diaries look so good. I'd really love to get some of that Peanut Butter Cookie growing in my tent! Oooh, or cherry cookies. Or Spooky OG. They all sound so good :D
Boom! Congrats on reaching the end fam ☺️👊 Your plant looks incredible! Can’t wait to see some harvest pics of the dried buds. Well done on this one, seriously. You’ve clearly got a very sticky green thumb. more fat buds to come 😁
@kizdog, thank you so much! Your diary was the first I studied here where I was like, this. This is what I want to do. And I studied every picture. The seeds of instruction and guidance y'all are dropping here are budding out into colas of knowledge and self agency all over the world, dude. All the very best vibes to you and your ladies. <3
Your look farther then mine. Mine took about 2 weeks to get hair on hps. Think that's why. Going to do same stain under Mars fce3000 in 3x3 see how light does against 600 watt hsp
@Budzalot,tbh man I'm kinda wondering if I got a crazy pheno- I thought she started maturing dumb early too. F45 now and on trich watch - she popped pistils at day 6. I really wish I were advanced enough to clone, but this will be my first harvest ever so I'm trying to concentrate on one thing at a time, lol. Def getting more of these seeds though.
@HappyWeeds, thanks so much! And the highest of tidings to y'all and y'all's! Had a hilarious time today with this lady, teaching the offspring what a gravity bong is. (It's fine, they're 30 and I think they were humoring me anyway lmao.)
