I know topping auto's is a bit controversial but I've seen some amazing results online and wanted to give it a try. I also did some light defoliation, leaving the tree with 4 main branch/leaf sets. I will be letting the baby recover throughout next week after which I will start some light LST. I also moved the plant out from under the T8's at the beginning of the week and placed them under my main 120W LED @60%
Recovery Week.
After topping last week, I decided to dedicate the entire week to recovery. Just kept the water topped up and the occasional misting over the leaves at night.
Noticed the roots are starting to get a bit tight and plan to transfer from the 5L to a 20L tub sometime next week.
At the beginning of the week I did some LST to help separate/spread out my main colas, trying to give them some room to breath for flowering.
Unfortunately my country struggles with an issue called Load shedding, which results in frequent scheduled power outages. I would ideally still be running my plant on a 20-4 light schedule for the first two weeks of flower, to help promote a bit of extra growth and size. Sadly the power outages have force kicked my plant into hard flower. Due to this, the plant has been on a rough 16-8 light schedule, occurring in 2 hour outage blocks, which is most likely impeding growth and recovery of my plant.
Definitely learnt a lot during my 1st grow. In the end I was super happy with the color of the bud. Unfortunately the nugs didn't come out as dense or as much as I had hoped. I definitely think my awkward light schedule contributed to the lacking size of the plant as a whole. Hopefully my country will get the power situation in check before my next grow.
