First week down into flower and all are looking nice and healthy. I decided not to use a net as my canopy is quite even and I have space left in the tent for light to hit anyway. I’m using the 3 nutrients I have from the start although after week 2 I’ll be swapping to the specified flowering nutrient 1 of 2 and also have been using molasses and Silica which I will not stoop on the silica. All are looking healthy so it’s time to sit back and keep them fed to see the final results! Side note I have successfully popped 4X clones after trying for the first time. It’s enough for the second cycle! I am awaiting 4 more that will hopefully pop too.

Is 1x1 enough to keep mothers happy? Or 1x2 would be maximum. Are these spaces too small?

You can keep it however small you like.. 1x1 being about the smallest I’d do.. You’re just restricting your ability to take a decent quantity of cuts at anytime. Depends what your end game is. If you’re trying to take a few dozen cuts all at once.. this won’t work. But if you want a clone or two here and there it’s fine. You will, however, have to continually prune and keep it cut down to size. Ultimately, I’d recommend a bit larger size. I run 8-12 in a 4x8 and it works well. I can take a dozen or so clones from any one at a time. Keeping moms just takes a little different shift in maintenance / mentality compared to vegging out plants for flower. I run low lights on them and keep containers smaller so they grow slower. Nutrients at a minimum. But it’s a fine line because you want them healthy enough to take clones.

Hi, How much longer should I keep these in veg before flipping? I’m at about week 5 from seed yet I think I have a few weeks to go before moving to fruit tent. Should I be getting rid of some large fan leaves to create room for light? Any tips appreciated. Thanks

If you get rid of the chonkers that are blocking light to inner nodes, you'll start developing a nice even canopy. Also, if you haven't topped it yet, I suggest you do so soon. That's another way to make the inner and lower branches try to catch up to the top of the plant and add even more to the top canopy. As far as flipping to flower goes, that's up to you. If you do what I suggested, top and defoliate, you'll want to wait a few weeks to a month before you flip them into flower. I hope this helps.

Hi all. I’m on my first grow and I have these lower branches on each of my plants and I do not think they will be sufficient in creating buds as they are behind the rest of my canopy and most likely are draining energy. Should I cull them and can they be used as clones? Thanks

I'd chop them off, personally. But, I like to really lollipop my plants. Take a look at my outdoor grow. I'm ScrOGing and removed almost all of the foliage underneath the canopy, along with all the branches that weren't going to make it close to the canopy. Not a single one of my plants were stressed to the point of turning into a hermaphrodite and they are all making fat nugs. I hope this helps.

@GrowingGrannie, Thanks again GG!! I’ve done many years of research and have grown 1 plant outdoors in my life but this is my first real attempt at full indoor grows and keeping mothers! I’m sure it’ll all turn out for the best! Wishing you all the best also

@@T_Dub, thanks for the positivity! I’ll set 2 for flower in 3 to 4 weeks so let’s see how this first run turns out then things can be tweaked! Cheers

Sorry but if the clones are from the male plant then they will be male also I would get fresh feminized seeds and start again happy growing
