For this grow, I'm trying organic living soil approach using BuildASoil Potting Soil Version 3.0. 15 gallon of soil in 20 gallon Grassroots Fabric Pot. Germination done in wet paper towel 3 days ago and then transferred it to a cup with Burpee Organic Seed Starting. once I start to see a sign of roots through the cup, I will transplant to the soil. Meanwhile I started living soil according to BuildASoil recommendation. Adding 1/4 Craft Blend and 1/8 gro-kashi on the soil surface and sowed few seeds of Clover Cover Crop Blend. I Also added few Red Wigglers :D. Super excited for this journey.

the freebie (Strawberry nuggets X Forum Stomper X Samsquash) is growing faster the the rest and Forum Stomper comes in 2nd place followed by Mango Smile in 3rd then Super Mango Haze. they range 6 inches to 4 inches tall. I water them 1/4 gallon every other day and last week I introduced Barley SST in 2 watering. It starts to show signs of deficiency specially in the freebie and mango smile. will look up what it means.

Forum stomper and samsquash are doing well and growing healthy. Spots on samsquash's leaf seems to be from watering and leaf got wet and burnt by light. Super orange haze and mango smile leaves are curling down and super orange haze suffer a stunt growth . I cut down on watering.25 gallon per pot every 3 days. Hope they survive and don't get root rot.

All girls are doing well pre-flowering except for the Super orange haze. Its so small and short. Leaves colors showing deficiency. Added Build-A-Flower Top Dress to all pots and started LST and defoliation Noticed that I have a fungus gnat issue, so I used "NemAttack™️ - Sf Beneficial Nematodes" from ARBICO. Freebie samsquash started to show yellow tips on new leaves, hopefully the top dressing I used will help fix it

Did some LST and defoliation. First week of flowering and all looks good except for the short small Super Orange haze and it has lots of catching up to do. Super Orange Haze and Freebie Samsqauch still showing signs of deficiency.

Still struggling with super orange haze and the freebie samsquash. Freebie shows a deffieciency which I can't identify but still growing abd building buds really well. For the super orange haze. This is frustrating. Leaves super thin and curling down and curling up like a taco shell. Burnt tips and no vertical growth or new leaves. Buds still growing super hairy. Mango smile and forum stomper are healthy and looking good. Also still facing an issue with flying gnats. Look like the Nematodes didn't win the fight. Any help or suggestions are appreciated

Probably 25 galon per 3 days is a typo. But still, you have big enough pots to not water for longer. Especially in early veg. Personally i like to dry out the medium to a point the plant stops praying when the lights are on. They should really get thirsty after the first 2 weeks, wait for them to tell you, watch them screaming for a drink. That way your roots will grow much larger and fully colonize the pot. Even outdoors I can see the results. I think they should even add root training to grow techniques here. Watering is the most difficult aspect to master Roots actually rise up above soil around the base of my outdoor grow since it started raining.

@Desert_Farmer, It will definitly be a lot easier to build nice soil in the open air than it will be in confined space. Plus..no energy bills!

@GuerillaGorilla, your outdoor grow looks tempting. I might try that next season. It was actupo . I meant 1/4 gallon. Soil is dryer now after I started to water every 3 days but my super orange haze is stunted and no growth and color doesn't look good

Super Orange might be N toxicity. I’m dealing with it on my Mango Smile with the LOS 3.0. Random leaves are clawed down and eventually turn yellow/brown and fall off.

@Desert_Farmer, from my experience everyone says a flush will work but that will flush out all the microbes and other nutrients as well. I’ve been watering a little more and more often and it seems to have helped my girls. I don’t have any new leaves showing the claw but you’re right, the damage is already done. I’m hoping this run will take most of the N out for my next cycle.

@Happydays58, do you know how to balance it out? Should I remove the cover crop. Also I know the damage done won't be reversed. How can I fix it in next run.?

My super orange haze was late to the flowering party too. Luckily when she did start to flower it was an explosion. Good luck man!

@Desert_Farmer, I did! The first couple weeks I dealt with a slight light burn, and the SOH was the slowest to recover. She's all back to normal now, but I did have to give her a little more nitrogen. After I added a little scoop of earthworm castings to the base of her stalk she was much happier. I'm still getting a lot of leaf curling, which is confusing now that I have them on a regular watering schedule. She's the only one still lagging behind. I'll get some good pictures of mine this week in my update.

To a successful grow!! I’m doing the LOS 3.0 w/ a dressing of Gaia Green, Kashi Blend, Build a Flower, Castings, clovers, & then mulch layer.

@Desert_Farmer, I’m no pro by far but I’ve heard it gets better with time. My previous two grows were in 5 Gal pots and I used 1/3 coco, 1/3 castings, and down to earth nutrients. Didn’t have enough life in the 5gal pots to last past 8 weeks. Hoping the 12Gal pots run for at least 2 years.

@Happydays58, I added thr Kashi, craft blend, seeded for clover I will mulch soon. Still didn't decide if straws or rice hulls. I will get deeper into ur diaries. I see that's ur 3rd one. How did u amend the soil and did u let it rest between ur grows to build nuts? Does it really get better the older it gets?

Nice looking grow, First time ive seen someone sow multiple plants in a pot indoors Awesome Is that clovers as groundcover your using?
Desert_Farmer
Desert_Farmercommented2 years ago
@GuerillaGorilla,First time to do it myself. Its different types of clover. they are used a cover crop for the soil to keep it moist and also add nitrogen to the soil. Thank you for passing by

Looking very healthy although they seem to be stretching a bit, You could consider lowering your growlight 😉 But it looks to me you know what you are doing. I'm looking forward to see more Good luck!!
