Breeding project crossing:
GDP (select male very grape) with all seeds listed in this diary. Male was very robust and resistant and had decent grape scent early. Pollen was collected and frozen for future back crosses, but seeding was directly from flower to flower.
X GDP f2 (select female xtra grape scent). This keeps the genetics of my favourite gdp male and female.
X auto GDP (select very purple, but low yeild). I lets this plant go a long time after pollination and the resulting seeds are mature, robust, and should be very healthy. The auto was low yeild but I wasn’t growing for yeild or pushing p-k or environment. Low stress growing for beans with extra N during flower compared to growing for bud.
X auto WW cbd ( select for great yield and very smooth). This cross should yield something good, hoping to select for gdp characteristics and terps and higher CBD in the next generation. This one had robust flowers even though I wasn’t pushing for yield.
X WW max (select for resistance, and yeild. Lots of gdpxWW max seeds from 3 different plants were collected early with only <50% likely viable, but there were so damn many I still have hundreds. This cross wasn’t a priority, but I like the idea of it as I haven’t seen attempts to cross and then pheno hunt these two classics.
The idea of this breeding was:
1) to create a better GDP AF
2) to select for the ultimate sleep aid over future crosses between heavy GDP like cultivars and cbd WW
3) create base seeds for a later GDP x WWMax pheno hunt.
See previous week for breeding info and comments on all crosses.
This cross is to try to get a better auto gdp like cultivar. Very grape, but I would be surprised if it is 50% real GDP. But who cares, great start on a sleepy purple AF by msnl. I’m just going to help it along.
See previous week for explanation for this mad science experiment. The mothers are in a different diary which compares LST, Fim, and no training. The untrained tree is over 9.5 ft now.
See previous week for explanation. These seeds were all very well developed. Likely the bud will go to hash but it looked too good not to dry and cure properly. All the other breeding project bud was stuffed in a freezer for later hash.
My favourite gdp (or GDPish) male and female for an f2 saving the genetics for another year. Full size outdoor mother is close to harvest ( see pics). Chosen for grape smell, colour comes in with (flush and cold) stress
This was topped and spread out and heavily defoliated, and took to training wonderfully with even low down buds making me guilty that some of them will go to hash.
